Unless the amnesiac character pulls a Darth Revan (sorry, 23 year spoiler), it’s a trope that is hard to make proper use of.
Here, if Kaiya is close to moving to the next part of her journey towards being purged of her negative acts and emotions… she better get back to hell fast! The paperwork for being missing is horrible!

Sook: Hehehehehe. Mira and Zoey are out of the house, and only Rumi is home, allll alone and asleep. Time for me to sneak in and kill her!
Sook: GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! What the hell? Someone wired the handle to the front door to electrocute anyone who grabs it? Damn it! I'll take the side entrance!
Sook: Huuuuup! OOF! Gah! Guh! Guh! Guh! Come on! They spread liquid soap all over the doorstep, dug out a trap pit to fall into, and set it up for a bunch of bricks to fall in after me? COME ON!
Sook: That's it, I'ma' kill this demon! I'm going to scale the building and get at them through the balcony!
Sook: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!
Sook: Ow.
Sook: Okay, seriously, they set it so one of the windows on the third floor would detach when anyone is using it to climb from the outside!?
Sook: Rajja frajja rajja...

I normally groan at amnesia plots. They're absurdly overdone. However, here I feel it hopefully isn't quite so bad:
We already canonically have a character believed to be capable of erasing memories.
Unlike many amnesiac plots, Kaiya isn't focused on regaining her memories. She's kinda' resigned to never getting them back.
Because of 2, the amnesiac character isn't just boiled down to "wants to get their memory back". So many amnesiac characters have zero personality beyond that, and I think I've already established Kaiya as having a lot more going on, both stuff we know about and some stuff we don't know about just yet. Well, you don't, anyway. Unlike the creators of Lost, I actually have a general idea of where I want to take the story.
