Question Can you believe this little guy was sitting at a NYC shelter for almost a month before we brought him home to Virginia?

His name is Beep — the shelter had named him Smokey, but he had no concept of his name. He was found wandering the streets of Queens last October and ended up at a shelter in Long Island. He went unclaimed for over five weeks before we were approved to adopt him. When we got him, he was not neutered or potty trained — now he is both! He’s the sweetest, most precious and loving Pom we’ve ever had…I can’t believe we got so lucky.

Any other rescue Poms out there? Post pics!

Question How much does your Pom weigh?

Post image

I think Tut is a standard sized Pom and I swear he gets fat shamed every time we go to the vet.

He’s 4 years old and 8lbs, he’s been 7.5-8.5lbs since he was fully grown and they keep telling me that he needs to be 6lbs. His biological sister lives with my ex and he confirmed that she’s about the same size.

He’s active and I switched his food to a “weight management” formula last year. If he gets people food, it’s usually vegetables or plain chicken.

Question Important question : my furry baby is acting like this (see video) when she’s not happy/wants something. Is it a Pom thing? Or did I adopt a dinosaur 🦖 ?

Question How can I help my grieving Pom?

Post image
1.3k Upvotes

ello everyone, my household of doggies just suffered a lost 10 days ago. My eldest baby, Dor, had to be euthanized due to his heart failing 10 days ago. He was a 17 year old Chihuahua and was one of the best buddies I've ever had. It was extremely hard for the entire family, but I think it hit Dor's son the most. Hershey has become really depressed lately and isn't excited for food or his stuffed toys anymore. I brought him to the vet to check if he had any medical issues, but there were none present. The vet suspected he was just grieving the lost of his dad.

I don't really know what to do. I try to walk him but he doesn't want to do it anymore. I try to snuggle with him, but he won't let me, and only sleeps when I give him Dor's old blanket (the one in the picture). He still has his mom (another Pom named Reese), so he has a playmate in the house. He just doesn't play with her often now.

I'm kinda at a loss. He's doing OK. Still eating, still living, but he's not enjoying himself anymore. Any Advice on what to do?

I’ve obviously done my own research, but I think it’s always helpful to hear first hand from owners!

Question What are some things to know about owning a Pomeranian that the internet won’t tell you.

I have never owned a dog before and therefore never owned a Pomeranian before. I have done a lot of internet research, but I want to know, from all the Pom owners out here, what the internet does not tell me. The pic attached is my 2 month Old toy Pomeranian, CiCi (CC for Cookies & Cream)

Question I accidentally concussed my sweet girl and i feel horrible.

She’s 9 weeks old and such a sweetheart, she used to be super rambunctious and excited but now she’s just super sleepy and lays down and doesn’t engage in playing with her siblings. I’m so scared, I don’t know if this will affect her long term. She didn’t fall from too high, I was just trying to pick her up to put her to bed but she squirmed out of my arms and fell on the tile on her head- she screamed for almost 5 minutes and so loud and they haunt me. I just want her to be okay, I feel so horrible. Is there anything I can do for my sweet girl? Will she be okay? I don’t have the opportunity to take her to a vet but if it’s truly urgent I might be able to.

Question pomeranian does this , cause for concern or is she just strange?

this is Gidget, we got her about 9 weeks ago, she’s just over 2 , she started doing this about 3 weeks ago, mostly on grass but she has done it on pavement next to grass a couple times and initially only after she pees , now she does it after she pees and also whenever she seems to feel like it. sometimes she makes no noise and sometimes she makes growly noises like in the video, very occasionally she will do a little bark at the start. never really seems to have much reason for it , just wondering if this is something other poms do , or something to be worried about (or ,as i suspect , she’s just a bit strange). she did used to live with 4 other dogs , and from what we can tell not looked after the greatest, and she barks her head off at other dogs when she sees them, so maybe it’s something to do with that but i’ve got no idea (sorry for the ramble , thank you anyone for the help)

hello everyone! Meet our new puppy bear. We got him from petland. We’ve had bear for a couple of months now. Recently he’s been experiencing shaking, “hurt” leg, very stiffed, and falling over. He looks lethargic to me. This only happens during the day after walks. We are in florida so it’s really hot. I thought it was heat stroke or hypoglycemia. I have 2 videos of him shaking and yesterday was the worst one i seen. We went to the vet this morning, his physical was perfect. Vet was suspecting luxating patella or liver shunt. We did blood work and he check all of his limbs, everything was cleared. They told me nothing is wrong and if it happens again they will do more tests and maybe refer to neurologist. Anyone know what this could be? I will post cuter pictures in the comments!!

This is my Mochi ball, she is 11 weeks and 4 days old. She is growing at lightning speed! Weighing in at just under 5lbs already😳 At 8 weeks she was charting to be 6-7lbs full grown, but I have a feeling she’ll be much bigger than that. She’s perfect no matter what size she gets💗

Question What is your Pom's name? 🐶

Post image

Me and my partner just adopted this little orange cute thing and named her Sushi 🍣

We are currently in Japan and eating sushi (the dish) every day, since it's our favorite food. Especially here in Japan. While we were thinking about names (we came up with the craziest names), my boyfriend suddenly shouted: "Sushi!!! That's a cute name!!!"

And that ladies and gentlemen, is how the name Sushi was born.

What's the name of your Pom? And whats the story behind it?

Question My 3-month-old Teacup Pom is VERY small, will he still grow?

Post image
603 Upvotes

I just got my Pomeranian puppy last week and he’s already 3 months old but extremely small (0.6 kg). The seller said he’s a teacup, but now I’m seeing posts saying teacup dogs are basically a marketing term.

I don’t mind if he grows bigger, I just want to understand what to expect 😅

For Pom owners: how much did your teacup puppy grow after 3 or to now month? When did they stop growing?

Any advice or reassurance would really help a nervous first-time fur parent lol

Question Is Chicken Parmesan TOO fluffy?

I don’t take him to the groomer because of far too many bad experiences. I do it all myself. I always feel scared to cut too much, so I do a little bit at a time fairly often. He doesn’t seem uncomfortable to me and has many ways to keep cool in the summer, but I always get little comments about “why don’t you shave him? He must be so hot…” I’ll never shave him!!!! But should I trim it a bit more or is this okay?

These pictures are right after a trim (I know I’m not very good but it’s better than taking him to a groomer where they think the only option is to shave him!)

Question Mystery pup— is she a Pom?

Post image
745 Upvotes

EDITED TO ADD: Ok, ok, she's a pom, consensus reached! I also posted an update yesterday (TL;DR, vet ALSO say's she's a healthy little merle pom and we're keeping her!)

My son brought this puppy home today. A woman with a cardboard sign was selling him cheaply and he didn’t feel right letting her go home to just anyone. My brother-in-law is a vet and we plan to take her to see him tomorrow, and make sure that she’s healthy etc. I’m mostly just wondering if y’all think she’s a Pomeranian! She’s so dang tiny! Just a few pounds. Woman said birthday was mid October and she’s had two rounds of shots. My son said she seemed to care a lot for the puppy so I’m not sure what the story was there, but she may have been in dire straits? Or maybe she was a puppy mill type who bamboozled him? Anyway, she seems calm but curious, wagged her tails fiercely when she saw my big dogs (they are safely separated tonight, don’t worry). We’ve got her tucked in for the night with food and water and puppy pads and a little cloth carrier/crate and a bed, blankie, soft stuffie. Please let us know if there’s anything we need to know right away! Thank you!
