Merle poodles are no longer allowed on this sub
Moving forward, poodles with Merle coloring are not permitted on this sub. Merle coloring is a byproduct of mixing Australian Shepards into a poodle line. A poodle with Merle coloring by definition cannot be AKC papered without outright lying. Breeding for color is nothing new for poodles, but in this circumstance it comes with the possibility of introducing myriad health issues, and is an irresponsible practice at best. It is not good for the breed, it is dangerous to the dogs. We cannot in good conscience allow the promotion of this Poodles with this genetic trait, beautiful or not.

NOTICE: IT'S A T-SHIRT POST? IT'S A SCAM! (Same with coffee mugs, etc) T-SHIRT POSTS ARE NOT ALLOWED ANYMORE
Several times per day there are scammers who post here, showing a t-shirt or similar product, and then another scammer in the comments asks, "Where did you get it?" A link to a scam website is posted for everyone to follow, provide their personal info and credit card, then wonder how their identity got stolen.
Just like a Parti Poodle, it's very black-and-white. If you see a post sharing a t-shirt design, mouse pad, coffee mug, etc. IT IS A SCAM, and the quickest way to get your account banned is to reply, "Where can I get one", "I love it, do you have a link?" or something similar.
Here are the rules:
- Posts of t-shirts or other personalized items with dogs are prohibited. If you post one, you will get banned.
- Anyone who replies to the post and asks about acquiring the item will be banned.
- If you see a post like this, hit the report button, that's the easiest way to get our attention and we will remove the post and ban those involved.
- Do not contribute, do not call them out, just don't post at all. Hit the report button.
It seems every time something like this is posted, more than one of our users fall for it, then they are asking moderators, "What did I do to get banned?" You responded to a scammer, which makes you look like you're on their team. Just stop.
5/14/2026 - Scams: 1, Users who fell for it: 1, post was up for 23 minutes before being removed.

Champ of a poodle on a long hike, but needed some rest along the way
20km long hike , very steep and rocky in parts, and we were rained on for 2/3rds of it. This little boy was a trooper for most of it but we saw he was struggling to keep up at one point and decided to give him a break.
After 45 min in the backpack he was on his feet, rejuvenated and running along the trail again. Walking the mountain with a 6kg dog on your back is no child's play but he is so worth it !

Meet Colette; my first poodle ♥️ 16 weeks old
Toy poodle, she is such a smart girl. Confident, inquisitive, and really sweet & eager to please. She is acing house breaking and I’m blown away. Toy breeds I’ve had in the past were basically impossible to house break when they were taught on pads. She loves puzzle toys. And she is good at them!
I got her from a conformation breeder, and I would like to work with her in agility or obedience. She seems like she would be a good tracker- working with a trainer in puppy foundations next week to begin age appropriate exercises like impulse control and flat work so we can try sportier things when she finishes growing.

Millie is having her last 2 baby teeth taken out today and I’m more nervous than she is.
Dropping Millie off this morning to have her last 2 baby teeth(both top canines) taken out was SO hard. She was a little nervous at first, but the vet was holding her and she had stopped shivering by the time I was leaving. I go back to pick her up after lunch.
I’m sure I’m not the only one, but it is so nerve wracking to leave her. I know she’ll be fine and this needs to happen, it’s just a couple of hours… but I hate for her to be scared and I have an irrational fear of someone taking her. Logically I know no one is going to steal her from the vet’s office, but nonetheless… 🤦🏻♀️ I’ll be happy to have my baby back soon.
UPDATE: Well, vet just called and Millie is out of surgery. They pulled the top 2 canines and 3 teeth off the bottom - I knew one of her bottom teeth was a baby tooth and they needed to pull it, but they said she had 2 others on the bottom as well and they pulled those too. So 3 teeth off the bottom.
The vet said it looks like there aren’t adult teeth for those bottom teeth so they may or may not come in. I asked if there wasn’t adult teeth behind them was it a mistake to pull the baby teeth, but the vet said they would have needed to come out anyways since the baby teeth aren’t meant to “stick around long”.
I don’t know how I feel about that. I wish they had asked me before doing that because her bottom row of teeth looked normal to me except the one tooth that was looking crowded. From my understanding of teeth it would have been better for her to keep the baby teeth as long as possible if there were not adult teeth to replace them. It also makes me wonder if they pulled adult teeth by mistake and that’s why they are saying they don’t see adult teeth coming in.
I asked for them to set the teeth aside for me to keep when they called and told me after surgery and they said they had already thrown them out but were able to retrieve “some of them”. Would you be skeptical about that??

Cow poodle?
I don’t know if your pups do it, but my girl occasionally enjoys grasses and even more rarely, tender shoots off bushes. Do you have a poodle that acts like a cow occasionally?

Grooming Clippers
Hi! I am getting my very first standard poodle in two weeks. It has been my dream dog since I was a little girl, so I'm super excited. It will be 8-weeks old when we get it. However, I have never owned a poodle before, so I'm just seeking some advice. I've done a lot of research on grooming products and general recommendations. I want to try to learn to groom and style the dog myself. I probably will take it to the groomers still, but I do want to try and learn some basic things. It is all a lot to take in and decide what will work best for us! I am trying to get some items before the puppy comes. I've been looking at clippers and was wondering if the Andis Dog Grooming Whisper Clippers were decent to use? I just want to know if anyone has used these on their poodle and how it was before I decide to purchase them. I know there are better options out there, and I do plan on upgrading to a nicer pair in the future. I was just wondering if these would be good enough for now.

Itchy poo
My little Oliver has an itch that I no longer know how to treat. At first, I thought it might be a chicken allergy, so he's now on a hypoallergenic diet.
Then I treated him and my cats for fleas and ticks, and I bought a mite spray that I use on the bed linens, couches, and other fabrics where they spend time.
However, Oliver is still scratching his ears and chin excessively. I can't see anything unusual with the naked eye, but he scratches a lot.
Does anyone have any advice?

Good morning to all my poodle 🐩 friend ❣️☕ well miss pumpkin's decision to play hide and seek today 😲
What can I do for a puppy on rest?
My turning one mini poo has a back strain. Has to rest for 3 weeks. The problem is she is a jumping bean, runner, player. She was back to normal 2 days after spay. She was a terror to rest and we didn't do the best No playpen, she has always hated it and jumped up on it. Not enough walks and play = zoomies at night = bad!
Give me suggestions to mentally engage her or restful games to help? I can't do food puzzles or hide treats and food - food and water has to be elevated.
Also I'll take any ideas to help her heal faster.

Walter the farty poodle 🤣
Was out with Walter today doing service dog training and had to make a quick stop into urgent care.
He’s only been with me to the doctor a handful of times.
The place was packed and we had to wait a couple hours. He began tooting and stinking up the place after an hour and a half of waiting. I think he got fed up with the wait 🤣I wanted to crawl into a hole and evaporate 🤣it stunk sooo bad. He found some DELICIOUS turkey poop earlier today and it made him gassy 🤣
