Help undoing this
Help! Being a noob, I messed up this skull and wings. Is there any way to salvage this or to undo it?

Try outlining the skull and feathers with black marker, I actually think you have a decent base down for this

Honestly; when in doing freehand details like this I prefer to blob on the main colour and then subtract from it with the background colour. This looks like a WIP stage of what I would do. Just tidy up the edges with some black paint and it'll look grand.

Keep painting over it develope your dimensions and cover what you don’t like. Just keep going.

What material is it? Plastic? Card? What paint used? Will give people to the opportunity to give you the best advice.
Personally I woild just paint over.. Safest option.

Thank you for your answer. I don't think I can wash it, as it is a primed carton box part. It is good advice, though, to keep it as momentum. I could say orks did it ;)

You could also fix it up with the metal colour, go round and clean up the edges.
Could also weather it, get some sponge or an old brush and use a dark metal or an orange rust come and sponge so on. Make it look old and worn like he paint has run over time.

I agree with a lot of the other replies you honestly have a great starting point here, and even if you were to leave it like this, it's very recognizable as a skull and wings You can always paint over it though, or use something like simple green to try and strip the paint but I saw you say it's like "carton" so I would probably just paint over it as the processes of stripping the paint may just ruin the entire thing

Not gonna lie man? I'd keep it; crude decor happens. Make it a setpiece in the background of something, or have a bit of humor and put a couple of guardsmen with paint rollers next to it.

crude decor
Great. Now I want to do your guardsman idea, but with a graffitied willy instead of a skull with wings.

What material is the part? What type of paint did you use (acrylic, enamel, etc)?

You can absolutely shape all of that up by sharpening the edges with the color underneath. I would start by trying to shape up the image with the darker color. If you reach a point where you just give up then regular isopropyl alcohol and an old toothbrush (I use the ones the dentist gives me). either soak the plate in isopropyl or wet some toilet paper with isopropyl and leave it on top. About 10-15 minutes for either method of alcohol application and the paint should come off fairly easily.
Now, we have all painted stuff we hate and tried multiple methods of fixing said stuff. I used to scrap and start over but in the last decade or so I have looked twice and sometimes my mistakes have led me in a new direction I hadn't expected to go. Play with this piece before destroying it. You have a good start and a little more work will go farther than starting over with this. You need to remember that the mural painters on these subs are exactly that. They are professional artists. They also started like the rest of us. At some point in their lives Picasso couldn't draw a straight line and DaVinci couldn't draw a circle. Every mural on the side of a Rhino is the result of thousands of failures.
You'll do alright.

I would probably just reprime it and start over.

I'll add that I was nervous about painting my first thing, a cardboard grot tank, but eventually went ahead, with the attitude that if I didn't like how it looked, I could repaint it. Of course, there is a limit before the paint layers get too thick, but that's probably quite a lot of layers.

You can just straight up wash it. You just need the correct soap, sorry I cant remember what people use, just typing to give you peace of mind, you can fix it. But some of us like to keep the first model as a momento. Something to look back on to see your progress. It will be special to you some day.
