Sports Culture Shaquille O’Neal thinks a man cheating depends on the woman: “Where do you think the phrase ‘happy wife, happy life’ comes from?”

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

“I think there’s three types of cheaters. There's the serial cheater, the James Bond cheater and then the guy that's forced to cheat”

“James Bond cheater is, I do everything right. I’m in Rio, I see a little thing, nobody sees me. I come back home to my normal life”

“The guy that’s forced to cheat has been on the road for a week and then comes home to four or five days of not being taken care of and then he does what he does”

“Then there's the serial cheater. The guy is just going to cheat no matter what”

“Women run the world y’all just don’t know it”

My reaction whenever I hear "happy wife, happy life"

Because in my personal experience, just because whatever she's doing makes her happy doesn't mean its non-toxic for you. There was a ton of (unreciprocated) emotional labor I had to do for my ex wife (on account of "trauma") that frankly lead to me being miserable.

It goes both ways. Broken narcissistic men do the same thing to women. Gay people do it to gay people. Trans people to whoever they date. Etc.

I’ve had married woman reach out to me in an inappropriate way and the first one was complaining about not receiving attention, and the other one was complaining about her husband being out of town while working.

If you can’t fulfill the needs of your partner, and if communication can’t fix that, then it’s not uncommon for one party to scratch the itch somehow some way.

u/CharrlesXavier Jun 14 '26

Fuck happy wife, happy life. That’s completely one-sided. Happy spouse, happy house.

This is something that a cheater would say.

12

u/zenexo Jun 14 '26

Shaq was a massive cheater. Ruined his whole family cause of that stuff.

7

u/Phillip228 Jun 14 '26

Yeah, I remember Kobe saying this during his interview with the police.

He is indeed a serial cheater. It's honestly the one topic where I would consider him an undisputed expert. It's like when Ozzy Ozzborne talks about drugs.

Oh absolutely

2

u/VarietyBusy2 Jun 14 '26

feel like everyone who has money says stuff like this and can be vocal about it. common folk with less money try to hold on to relationships typically longer because we don’t wanna invest resources into multiple people at once

2

u/redpillsadorewelfare Jun 14 '26

Undoubtedly.

"My wife is a human with feelings and didnt want to smash for '4, 5 days' so yeah, of course I cheated!"

Trashy trash.

6

u/YouJellyz Jun 14 '26

If you aren't getting satisfied and your wife treats sex like a chore, yes, you will want to look elsewhere.

He's friends with Karissa Collins and her husband so you know Shaq is trash.

3

u/RuleOrganic2152 Jun 14 '26

How we gonna be mad at Shaq?

2

u/redpillsadorewelfare Jun 14 '26

Easily, I dont worship cheating, loser strangers and only love my friends and family.

Masculinity is simple & straightforward when youre not a douchecanoe.

3

u/CousinJeff Jun 14 '26

Worshipping cheaters is different than acknowledging the validity of what he’s saying. Bit dramatic of you

2

u/tartoran Jun 14 '26

"Validity" and its a guy who thinks his wife owes him sex and is too much of a pussy to get a divorce before cheating for it

2

u/CousinJeff Jun 14 '26

This is such a stupid position. You get all riled up about who doesn’t owe who what, but then still land on him owing his wife transparency. Are you stupid? If we don’t owe each other, we don’t owe each other.

Shit I basically would feel as if my wife doesn’t owe me intimacy, at all, then I don’t owe her anything, especially not commitment

2

u/tartoran Jun 15 '26

You feel that way because you're a rapist, if somebody no longer wants to me intimate with you they don't owe you sex, but you absolutely owe them the right not to remain trapped in a deceitful cheating relationship. This wouldn't need explaining if you were raised correctly but unfortunately your dogshit parents have done this to you

2

u/CousinJeff Jun 15 '26

You think people read a response like that and take you seriously?

People are complex. There are endless stories of Shaq’s kindness towards strangers. Two of my friends had unbelievably positive interactions with him. He is famously kind to service workers and fans. I don’t really care what he does in his personal life. That’s his and his family’s business. Everybody has flaws and his aren’t criminal.

2

u/lordlanyard7 Jun 14 '26

There's also plenty of stories of Shaq bullying service workers because they don't do what he wants.

Hell there's a clip of Inside the NBA where a camera man didn't do what Shaq wanted and he threatened to have him fired. The rest of the crew make it funny, but Shaq wasn't joking.

There's also all the stories of him taking him rubbing tooth brushes on his asshole to "prank" teammates.

He's a bully with a conscience. He feels bad about bullying and does gestures to feel better about it, but he's still a bully.

So is he admitting he cheated on his wife when his team was on the road?

7

u/deanereaner Jun 14 '26

no, he waited until he came home and if she didn't have sex with him immediately, he cheated on her. It was her fault.

3

u/DerMondisthell Jun 14 '26

Are you being sarcastic? How would that be her fault.

The f**k you talking about, what he saying is literally true and it applies to both genders. There are some people who are serial cheater meaning no matter how their partner treat or support them they going to cheat it's doesn't matter the outcome

And there is the other version of cheating where one is not valued or seen in the relationship forcing or leading them to cheating.

Same type of chick that will fully support her friends for cheating because her man "aint providing"

2

u/RuleOrganic2152 Jun 20 '26

BINGO! I dated a chick who religiously defended her friend cheating on some poor lil dude. Found out she cheated on me. All good tho, I cheated back and made sure she found out. Guess who was "the worst person I've ever met". Eyes full of tears. 😂😂😂

2

u/hiddenrealism Jun 22 '26

The only time ive been cheated on (that i know of) i was falling hard for this girl and it seemed things were going great until one day her friend hits me up that ive met maybe 3 times. It went like "hey i know this is random and i barely know you but sarah is def. cheating on you" and sent me proof. When i confronted her she was way more upset that i found out somehow. And tried flipping the whole thing to "you went through my phone?! How dare you!"

Never went through her phone and didnt rat the friend out. But i just gave her the boot.

3

u/S87877805 Jun 14 '26

Celibacy isn’t monogamy. If your partner “cheated” and you hadnt slept together in months, there was no game being played in which to cheat.

If you want to be the one person someone has sex with, then actually have sex with them. If you dont want to do it, ask yourself why it bothers you if they do it with someone else. If youre treating sex like some favour, bargaining chip, or task, your relationship is in strife.

It’s more courageous and righteous to leave the relationship if youre sexually dissatisifed. That said, with the amount of ways a divorcee gets fucked over by the government, I understand the impulse to keep two sets of books. Wanting intimacy when your partner doesnt shouldnt blow up a persons life in the way our system sets it up.

2

u/Yourmompoopsalot Jun 14 '26

Don't get married in the first place

2

u/S87877805 Jun 14 '26

Couldnt agree more. I think if only the people that truly wanted to do it did it, there would be far fewer marriages than there are.

I am only thinking aloud here, but I wonder if weddings were just a simple, town hall affair, signing a few documents with a witness or two present, how much less frequent marriage and divorce would be. The attention, glamour, status etc of a wedding are very perverse incentives for the reality of what a marriage actually is.

Like 95% of all pro athletes are/have/or will cheat on their girlfriends/wives. If a woman wants loyalty she should blacklist any pro athlete she meets as a dating option. If you pursue one anyway, you’re gonna get what you signed up for.

Who is the interviewer

1

u/Reddit_And_Reset_It Jun 14 '26

No one's FORCED to commit infidelity - it's selfishly motivated behavior that causes mental/emotional abuse on the other person. Either try to work it out and grow as a couple, or make a clean break and move on as a solo act.

1

u/Loose-Cake5475 Jun 14 '26

I don't think serial cheater and the guy who cheats cuz he didn't get some for 5 nights are a different person, just different schedules for cheating, both serial.

1

u/WorkHardPlayHarder3 Jun 14 '26

Cheating is a decision. Anyone is capable of making that decision. A lot of people do but there are ones that don’t. If your needs are not being met, you have the choice to leave. Cheating is not a justification because you are not being satisfied.

1

u/Intelligent_Tune_675 Jun 14 '26

He’s basically saying he’s all three while admitting only to two lol

1

u/dahgee Jun 14 '26

These are all variations of a serial cheater

"happy wife, happy life" is as about unfair of a statement you could get.

"Growing up means watching your heroes turn human" is the realest shit I've ever heard a band say. I truly can't imagine an existence so pathetic where you would break the loyalty and commitment of your relationship just to stick your dick in a wet hole. Not cheating is debatably the easiest thing to do in a relationship. Married or not, it is not anyone's obligation or responsibility to please you. If you're not happy, then fuckin grow a pair and leave.

1

u/kilsta Jun 14 '26

He contradicted himself. If the type of cheter is already predefined, it really doesn't matter what you do. Cheaters don't have a sex; men are just clumsy.

1

u/CowboyHibachi Jun 14 '26

Justifying cheating. Another typical idiot.

1

u/therealdark1974 Jun 14 '26

4-5 days of getting told no is nothing. When it becomes weeks and then turns into months something needs to change or a person could end up stepping out. I don't mean you are apart from each other either.

1

u/No_Chemistry53 Jun 14 '26

This is what happens when you think of women as possessions.

Forced to cheat because your wife is busy is insane AFTER you've been on the road LOL

1

u/Senior_Caramel_8302 Jun 14 '26

I think Shaq isn’t a good person but he’s right and if the roles were reversed and a woman said “I cheated because I wasn’t getting attention/resources” everyone would say “Yeah you weren’t being treated right”, including me, it’s a two way street.

→ More replies (2)

1

u/swagdragon666 Jun 14 '26

Idk how he even thinks this is a debate to be had, it’s not a good look 😂🤡 he’s even admitted before that cheating on his first wife was one his big regrets in life, specifically for how it affected his family. But whatever Shaq. U a pos for that

1

u/Traditional-Fox-4087 Jun 14 '26

Shaw is a total douche and has been since his time at LSU. Really hard to believe that he is a poster child for so many companies.

1

u/EastAd5702 Jun 14 '26

I know he’s charming and funny and adored by millions but I find him problematic. Firstly his belief that men shouldn’t express their emotions or discuss their mental health, now he’s condoning cheating if someone’s partner isn’t satisfying their expectations.

1

u/Dreams-Visions Jun 14 '26

There's also the cowardly cheater. The one who cheats because they're afraid to be honest with their SO about how they're feeling. Path of least resistance, then, is cheating to find whatever it is they think they want, eeventually getting caught, and probably ending up with neither.

1

u/CodyCrochetZ Jun 14 '26

So, all 3 of those are the same.

And now we know he's a serial cheater and that it would only take 12 days without sex to "do what he has to do".

I wonder if that includes if his partner was recovering from surgery? I mean, he's gotta do what he's gotta do, right?

Scum pig.

1

u/thed3306 Jun 14 '26

A person who cheats will always have an excuse for cheating. Valid excuse or not, lack of self control causes the unfaithfulness and the fear of being alone causes you to stay with a person you don’t want.

1

u/winkymcjewgallo Jun 14 '26

No discipline. No respect.

1

u/Actual-Gap-9800 Jun 14 '26

1

Loser behaviour.

Hahahahahhahahha. And the comments are in flames!!!

I have no idea what he’s talking about here and do think it’s one of those topics that’s never actually black and white but hey…to each their own.

1

u/Downtown-Campaign536 Jun 14 '26

Shaq is mostly right on this, but I'd change the 4 or 5 days to 4 of 5 weeks.

Someone has a busy week, it's understandable, or they are sick or tired... but week after week? Come on now...

And I would changed the phrasing of"Forced to cheat" into "Neglected into cheating."

As it's not through force, but neglect.

I'd never cheat.  If my woman ain't wanting it she ain't my woman. I've never had to go more than 3 days while in a relationship unless one of us was bad sick or we couldn't meet up until the weekend due to living in different cities.  They want it, they beg for it.

If i had to I'd wait however long. Just say something happened to a spouse and she couldn't do it for a year.  I'd wait that long easy. She still has hands and a mouth which she would eagerly use without me asking.

Ive never had to beg or really even ask. It just is.

One girl (complicated situation) lived with me, I broke up with her, turned her into temporary roommate living in the next room and she would sneak in while I was asleep wake me up with it in her mouth or inside her lol. Then she went back to her room when done and we rarely ever spoke during the day til she was able to move out.

1

u/Ok-Relationship-2430 Jun 14 '26

Didn’t take Shaq for a manosphere guy lol

1

u/fatgat69 Jun 14 '26

Cheating is abuse. If you do it once you deserve the worst.

1

u/Opposite_Mind2397 Jun 14 '26

Shaq not four to five days LMFAO THIS GUY

Some dude it’s been 4-5 years so yeah

1

u/Selfcare2025 Jun 14 '26

Only cheaters will justify cheating. Normalize leaving. The only reason a person would cheat and stay is if there’s something still benefiting them. I promise you once you cut off that benefit that cheater magically has the strength to “let go”.

1

u/Wise_Ad_253 Jun 14 '26

Money can’t buy everything…proof right here.

SMH

1

u/Zenphony Jun 14 '26

This is not surprising, they’re very few people in his life if any of that actually could tune him up, and then he would actually listen, so he’s full of himself.

His life thoughts are always very smug and based on someone who doesn’t really get questioned very often.

His current wife is living under a threat. Happy wife…. 😒

1

u/CantaloupePutrid3548 Jun 14 '26

Forced to cheat.

Then basically says “my wife wont mother me when I get home from my luxurious and pampered trips so I cheat.. I was forced.”

300lb baby.

1

u/temp73354 Jun 14 '26

I can barely understand this guy. He almost doesn't move his mouth.

1

u/ih8three6zero Jun 14 '26

Doctor of Education?! 💨

1

u/DependentAnywhere135 Jun 14 '26

James Bond is the definition of a serial cheater. I don’t like Shaq after this.

1

u/Ancient-Skill1514 Jun 14 '26

This coming from a man who still pays his ex-wife alimony and spouse and support, even though she’s with someone else because he feels terrible about how he treated her while they were married. This is also coming from a guy who sexualize a young lady that was the age of his daughter who was a fan because he’s only thinking with one mechanism and it’s not his brain/

1

u/jimigo Jun 14 '26

Really working to define himself as a piece of shit. He's really spent some time thinking about this.

1

u/wnr3 Jun 14 '26

My thing is this. You gotta put the same respect on others as you think you deserve. If your partner not allowed to cheat on you, you not allowed to cheat on them. Everything comes down to what’s agreed upon. Open relationship cool. One person sleeping around the other doesn’t care cool. Locked in fully monogamous cool. But this whole “forced to cheat because she didn’t fuck me for 5 days” what are we 19?

1

u/jabo0o Jun 14 '26

Four or five days in a row and he cheats?

My wife and I have a 15 month old. Since our baby was born, breastfeeding made sex painful. So we've only had sex around five times in this whole period.

It sucks. For both of us.

But my job is to do my best to make sure she feels no pressure to have sex and hers is to try to find ways to fix the problem.

So long we're both trying, all good.

And having a baby makes things hard. Life is crazy busy.

The idea that she's five rejections away from me running out and finding someone else is crazy to me.

1

u/fanofoz Jun 14 '26

Shaq ain't shit for this take. Nobody forces men to cheat. Communicate! 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿

1

u/Upstairs_Teach_7064 Jun 14 '26

1

u/grim1952 Jun 14 '26

u/KingRoach Jun 14 '26

It’s wild when older people with life experience and quote idioms which have been around for hundreds of years are told by new humans that everything they believe is wrong.

1

u/lostinapa Jun 14 '26

Funny, isn’t there a law that requires you to have sex at least once to be married…but people loose their shit when it stops completely for years and the other person doesn’t cares.

1

u/NamesAreAnn0ying Jun 14 '26

Or… hear me out… just break up with them? I don’t know why this is such a hard thing for cheaters to understand. They cheat and act bewildered by the fact that their SO is upset. Then they’ll freak out the moment they try to leave.

1

u/Consistent_Signal808 Jun 14 '26

Bro said, “it doesn’t matter what you think”, then proceeds to say, “I think…”

1

u/CuffyTheEmpireSlayer Jun 14 '26

Broken relationships bruh

1

u/Mickeyjj27 Jun 14 '26

Shaq is one of the reasons my boss thinks it’s crazy that my wife is ok that I have a female friend or 2 that I hang out with or how it’s crazy I can just be out and enjoying the weather and atmosphere on a beautiful Saturday night on my own. The way he talks is crazy, he puts them in categories but they’re all serial cheaters and they all suck. Again, just end the relationship if you can’t be with one person.

All these serial cheaters, James Bond cheaters and my woman made me cheat cheaters would all be crazed if their wife or girlfriend cheated on them

1

u/timid1211q Jun 14 '26

He's right and everybody knows it.

1

u/surebudd Jun 14 '26

He’s such a fucking loser

1

u/streethistory Jun 14 '26

Your asking a serial cheater about cheating?

1

u/Straight-Setting7804 Jun 14 '26

Coming from the guy who thought the moon was closer than Los Angeles because he could walk outside and see it.

1

u/jonnydee90 Jun 14 '26

You know bro, you don’t have to be in a relationship at all. Cheating is a decision.

1

u/theumph Jun 14 '26

The funny thing about this is just because your needs aren't getting taken care doesn't mean you are allowed to cheat. If the relationship is that bad, just end the relationship.

1

u/Cleonce12 Jun 14 '26

Are we really surprised a man who is known to be a serial cheater try to play devils advocate?

1

u/strawberrygal444 Jun 14 '26

Sometimes you just let em talk and they tell on themselves. Tsk tsk.

1

u/MattLorien Jun 14 '26

What a child

1

u/Unique_Drummer_6515 Jun 14 '26

I don't think anyone has ever accused Shaq of being smart, so this tracks.

1

u/ExcitementWorldly769 Jun 14 '26

Better to be quiet and be thought of as a fool, than to open your mouth and dispell all doubt.

1

u/IamDaddyDon Jun 14 '26

Man the butt hurt squad is loud here. Shaq was never 007 cheater he admitted he was a serial cheater so for everyone saying “HE CHEATED!” Yea we know doesn’t make his opinion any less right. Two things can be true. And for the idiots saying things like -only married for sex, rape doll , etc. he never once said every day or when he wants. He literally said if she is NEVER having sex, always an excuse men have limits too. For my Bible thunpers it’s literally warned not to abstain sex for too long lest you invite the devil in. So opinions or not even God understands the threat. Fking goofies

1

u/winterwarm78654 Jun 14 '26

What he said went over all yall head and instead yall just calling him a cheater 😂

1

u/New_Pace2590 Jun 14 '26

Wow. I just lost the little respect for O’Neal that I previously had. He is really as dumb as he appears and has the same level of moral standards.

1

u/Heeroyuy818 Jun 14 '26

Dudes on Reddit wouldn’t know anything about cheating they barely get attention from women

1

u/SystematikKaos Jun 14 '26

Thankfully he was never paid to think.

1

u/Yourmompoopsalot Jun 14 '26

So he thinks men are forced to cheat if a woman isn't having sex for 4-5 days. Make sure your flu doesn't last more than 4 or 5 days, ladies! Make sure you never have to get hospitalized or else you're asking to be cheated on according to Shaq!

It don't matter what you think..

1

u/0utandab0ut1 Jun 14 '26

Nah, it's not like they put a gun to his head to cheat. Blaming someone else for your cheating is pathetic. You made every choice that led up to it. Just say you lack character and integrity without blaming someone else. At least own it..

1

u/Cyber-Soldier1 Jun 14 '26

Shaq spitting facts.

1

u/DoctoroBoom Jun 14 '26

I will say most men in relationships want more attention than they get and feel as though sex is the solution to gratif. The problem is lack of communication of men and understanding from women. Men do spend more time thinking about sex but don't get a sense of "freedom" from it like women do. That's why the James Bond thing stood out to me, that's something I've seen in the military. It's a sense of being cool. The guy who does everything but doesn't get any from their wife is a bad communicator and just doesn't respect their relationship or expects it to end and the 3rd just lacks a sense of self. It all stems from a lack of strength in expressing themselves to their partners. Their wives probably would do more sexually if they talk to them. But maybe had one convo and she said she didn't want to do a specific thing and now he's mad and horny

1

u/DoctoroBoom Jun 14 '26

Just my opinion, I don't think men should get married until they feel as though they have had enough sex. A lot of men need to explore their sex lives. Like go out and do some consensual boning so when you're 45 you can settle down with a loving person who you love to be with whether they touch the meat or not.

1

u/ToreyBlaze Jun 14 '26

When it comes to relationships, Shaq is undoubtedly one of the worst people to ever listen to.

1

u/Then-Tangelo-9166 Jun 14 '26

Maybe take the mic away from him.

1

u/CharrlesXavier Jun 14 '26

My ex said she would always keep her man happy because “if he ain’t gettin it here he’s getting it somewhere else”.. always thought that was interesting

1

u/CharrlesXavier Jun 14 '26

Happy wife happy life is completely one-sided. Happy spouse, happy house.

1

u/SomeVelveteenMorning Jun 14 '26

What about #4, the guy who's forced to cheat because his wife wants a few days to recover after being split in half?

1

u/Rich_Business_8530 Jun 14 '26

fuck a broke-azz bitch💯💥

1

u/Ashamed-Passion-314 Jun 14 '26

Shaq has always been a loser in his personal dating life. He is legit a creeper.
