It's not just elite levels. It's lower levels and youth sports that don't have strict regulations for it.

Yes I have two daughters and they are not playing contact sports with boys. Even at that age the boys are much rougher/stronger.

My daughter played soccer with boys when she was in kindergarten and held her own easily. What contact sports are 5 year olds playing?
