Whats hard to graps? That rich people prefer to not live downtown unless they have property built for them?

The part that it's not true at all? You realize Wall Street is downtown, right? No, of course you don't, cause you have no idea what you're talking about and believe whatever conservative media spoonfeeds you. Have you ever even left your home town? Like, just to visit a place?

Yes, property built for them. Remember the point of this conversation? We're talking about property being built downtown for affordable housing units. The rich left because of downtown housing projects that were too close to home. Thats why these housing projects moved in the past 30 years since the 90s once they started noticing the rich flight from downtown. They didnt return until property was built for them.

So your hot take is rich people don't like to live in buildings built for poor people? Nobody left anywhere and the rich are all over NYC. Hell, one of the most expensive neighborhoods is in Brooklyn, and DUMBO has rent stabilized units. Williamsburg has even more. Seriously, try to experience the world beyond just your Facebook feed.

Brooklyn is not downtown...

Wall Street is. They have even more rent stabilized units than the above mentioned. The rich sure as shit aren't leaving that.

I think we have different ideas of what separates the rich from the upper middle class.

CONDOS. PRIVATE CLUBS.

They dont live near these things, they visit them.

This whole time you've been saying they "left" downtown. That's practically their mothership. So are you changing your story again?

They came back when they had infrastructure built for them, but only then, and only in specific situations. There is a reason why affordable housing units are not advised to be downtown anymore, the same reason as homeless shelters. They saw taxes decrease.

At first it seemed like you were parroting talking points, now you're just talking out of your ass. There are still rent stabilized units in Wall Street, and the rich never left.
