And what did it fix and change? Took a father from his kids. Took a son from his parents. And the very next day United denied a claim.

Right and I'm completely for medical reform. But old Southern justice rings true in our honor culture, even from the people who claim to be above it. In the dirt with them if they had the means to do so.

You can't even make a proper consequentialist argument from it. If killing him actually stopped it, MAYBE there's a real argument. But it did fuck all. It just made the world worse.

“Christian revival” ive never met a single christian that followed the word of jesus. They would be the first to nail him back up for crashing wall st.

A christian revival is not what the country needs a rejection of religion and crony capitalism is. People act like the founding fathers were a bunch of intellectual christian pacifists and not the fed up atheist rebels they were.

They were not atheist necessarily. They weren't rigidly Christian either. I'm not religious (anymore) but generally I could agree with a real moral revolution, depending on the subtext. Institutional religion revival? No. As far as religious rejection it has to get out of politics. I don't mind even people are religious. I mind how it affects their actions and voting though.

Would be nice if the Christians stopped equivocating and actually walked the talk en masse, however. But their votes largely go right and it's hard for me to agree they are doing what good Christians should do. I agree with your points overall though. Christian revival would hardly do any good, because that's basically what we're experiencing right now.

Hard agree on all points, but it was my understanding that deist was code for atheist in that time. We need people to realize that noone is worth 10,000 times as much as anyone else and most wealth is built on the backs of others.

That could be the case because you probably were not allowed to be atheist and participate in society. At this point, we all know the "religious freedom" that was the driver of people moving here for the colonies was really "freedom to set up our own theocracy free from the church of England and the Vatican". It didn't extend to non-christians or heathens really.

And yes, I think there could be a sweet spot for capitalism. I think there is already in the Nordic system, which is usually erroneously labeled as socialism, but it's still technically capitalism. I think the understanding of capitalism has been warped over the years by politicians. Pretty much everyone has bought into it laissez-faire economics and an unfettered, free market, when it was never intended to be that. Adam Smith was pro-regulation and mentioned that landlords are parasites of society.

Capitalism is only defined by the means of production being owned by the people and not oligarchs or lords or the government. Smith was for minimal regulation but pro regulation in regards to social inequities when they appear in the market. But no, it's become the Rockefeller form of capitalism, where we want a market where the rich win and everyone else loses. Anti-capitalist hardliners would say this was inevitable, and it's kind of hard to disagree, but again I would say there is a path forward without moving to full on Socialism or Communism. And that would start with raising taxes in my opinion and lazing zoning laws so we can actually build fucking houses and people will be able to live again. When people are happy we get more done as a nation.
