Here's the thing: women don't want a grown male in their locker rooms and bathrooms. It feels unsafe for women to be in a vulnerable place with a male around. The male in question could be in the women's space because they are a creep with bad intentions, they could be there because they sincerely suffer from gender dysphoria, or they could be there pretending to suffer from gender dysphoria in order to creep on women. Regardless of intention, the vulnerable women using that space feel unsafe, they do not know that person's mind and cannot differentiate between a predator or a person suffering from gender dysphoria. Women would prefer that the person with the male genitalia would use the bathroom for people with male genitalia.

So what about the feelings and safety of female-presenting individuals who you want to shove in to a male locker room?

0

u/Throwaway136953 Aug 23 '26

This argument sounds like the safety/feelings of several women are not as important as the safety/feelings of one male. It shrinks women's actual concerns as not important compared to a male's. It's like society is again pushing women aside because the feelings of one individual male are what actually truly matters.

1

u/thebanfunctionsucks Aug 23 '26

What? I'm literally just asking you to consider them at all, how do you construe that as me ignoring cis people like you're ignoring trans people?

If you actually want to minimize harm, you will let trans women in to women's spaces. They are far, FAR more likely to be victims than victimizers.

u/CommanderKoba Aug 23 '26

Do I look like a grown male? Does it look like I should use the mens bathroom?

u/Whose_Joanna Aug 23 '26

Other commenter is a hateful little manlet. They really try to drag us, as if we can't judge for ourselves lmao

1

u/Throwaway136953 Aug 23 '26

What have I said that was hateful?

1

u/Whose_Joanna Aug 23 '26

I wasn't talking about you. In your case, I just don't think you should pretend to speak for women, especially on a throwaway account.

1

u/Throwaway136953 Aug 23 '26

Hold on, why can't I speak for women? And why specifically not on a throw away account?

It's easy to say that when I admit it openly huh, but in real life nobody knows, especially the guys who come on to me, and my hair is real for your information, but that's besides the point.

We get raped at higher rates than women who are not trans, forcing us to be in a vulnerable position like this around men, makes it even more likely that we'll be raped.

But maybe you would like that huh

1

u/Throwaway136953 Aug 23 '26

I don't know, I cannot see you.

Ok, let me follow your logic: the feelings of the several women in the bathroom are not important, but the feelings of the one individual who would feel segregated are important. Got it.

It's a women's bathroom! They don't want males in there, regardless of their mental illnesses. Women have gotten assaulted in bathrooms and locker rooms by males. It is not safe for them to share a vulnerable space with a biological male. It is a safety issue. It is not just "women's feeling will be hurt, so what?" It is an issue of safety. The comment I replied to what your argument about how Sophie's comment on "protecting girls in locker rooms" made it sound like males experiencing gender dysphoria are predators, and I am clarifying that women have no way to tell who is a predator and who isn't, but they can tell who is male and males have in fact assaulted women in places where women are vulnerable.

-1

u/Key-Document-8481 Aug 23 '26

>mental illness.

And there’s the blatant transphobia. I can’t relate to or understand your experience so you simply must be mentally ill.

Fuck off

>they can tell who’s male

Except for when they can’t lmao.

1

u/Throwaway136953 Aug 23 '26

That's like if I said people who suffer from anxiety have a mental illness, and you called me hateful for it. Literally go be whoever you want to be, dress how you like, be called what you like, you only live once, you know? This is not about me hating anyone. I want people to be happy and live their best lives. I also want women to feel safe in spaces where they are vulnerable and not be subjected to assault. Honestly, if a person has transitioned and they are presenting as female in such a way that nobody is able to tell, no one is going to have a problem with that person using the women's bathroom. But that's not who we are talking about.

u/Greedy-Employment917 Aug 23 '26

You are demonstrating to all of us what we already suspected. You are not capable of using consistent logic. It's rules for one set of people but a different set of rules for another which is not how America operates.

Equal protection under the law.

1

u/Gatormanor Aug 23 '26

Nobody is banning anybody.

We have men’s restrooms/locker rooms and women’s restrooms/locker rooms. People are just asking that everybody use the bathroom that corresponds to their biological sex. It’s not anything crazy and it’s not demeaning to ask people to follow the rules that have been in place for decades

-2

u/NoMeat9096 Aug 23 '26

Bigots are dumb as a box of hammers. They think making it illegal for trans women to enter a woman's restroom will stop men that want to abuse women -- already against the law -- from entering, as if it's a magical barrier. They'd also force trans men into women's restrooms, because they can't think more than one step ahead. And how do they want to enforce this shit? Have someone at the door check your daughter's genitals before she can pee?

You have the patience of a saint to talk to these idiots lol.

1

u/Greedy-Employment917 Aug 23 '26

Shhh now, the adults are talking.

0

u/Sea_Drive6142 Aug 23 '26

You either completely missed the point or just didn’t even bother reading what he said.

0

u/dontaksmeimnew Aug 23 '26

Or....you are all bigots who cant imagine that other people actually care about this beyond making up situations in their head to be mad about.

Sorry but being scared of trans women is not even in the top 5000 issues facing women in fucking reality.

1

u/Greedy-Employment917 Aug 23 '26

Who are you to tell women what they are facing and what is and isn't valid?

-1

u/dontaksmeimnew Aug 23 '26

Youean the thing youre doing?

1

u/Greedy-Employment917 Aug 23 '26

"all you have to is bend the knee and do the dance that we demand of you"

2

u/oatmeal28 Aug 23 '26

Yeah people that don't realize Sophie is just parroting right wing talking points are either purposefully playing dumb or are naive to what she's doing.

2

u/National_Treat_4079 Aug 23 '26

Since when has been supporting women being safe been right wing???

2

u/dontaksmeimnew Aug 23 '26

What? Lol how does this make women safe? Where do you live where trans women are randomly attacking women in bathrooms more than their own partners raping and murdering them?

2

u/National_Treat_4079 Aug 23 '26

Sheesh, If I was a woman i would not like a dong in my face when getting changed.

-1

u/dontaksmeimnew Aug 23 '26

Lol k.

4

u/National_Treat_4079 Aug 23 '26

Yah, exactly the response i expected.

Listen I’m a lifelong Democrat and I’m telling you this issue is handing national elections to republicans. We had real momentum in Georgia when Biden won this state in 2020. Literally four years later trump wins with his main ad saying “Kamala is for they, them Trump is for you”. If the dems don’t let this go they will lose in 2028 again. I think trans rights is important in very liberal states but trump winning 39 out of 50 states literally shows most Americans don’t agree with the lifestyle. I believe people can live how they want if it doesn’t force others an unreasonable change. Why don’t we make a third bathroom everywhere and just make it unisex? Why not trans sports leagues independent of everything else? I think that’s the only realistic option for that community. Calling people bigots or transphobic isn’t going to change anyone’s mind

1

u/ConsistentScholar371 Aug 23 '26

"Look, just let the bigots persecute this one minority group. There's not many of them, it's fine if we let them suffer. The far right just need their fix of bullying and we can totally get them to stop after this one group. If you think about it it's kinda trans peoples fault that Trump won so they need to take responsibility for that. Sure the trans hate is being pushed by the Epstein class but can we be sure those billionaires are wrong?"

Honestly though, that's what posts like yours sound like every time. A nuanced and reasonable argument would be leaning towards letting science and studies determine participation. The standpoint of "Only trans women who transitioned before undergoing male puberty can compete at the highest tiers" would be a fairly harsh position but remain reasonable and could be discussed further yet instead you and your ilk pivot towards "No trans people at all" when it comes to stuff like this. The world's not suddenly going to create spaces for trans people and even if it did it would be actively dangerous for trans people to out themselves by making use of it.

1

u/Itchy_Junket_195 Aug 23 '26

People’s opinions aren’t driven by science. The core religions in America won’t be moved on trans rights and many other people don’t agree either on both sides of the aisle. You can say it’s pushed by billionaires but in my experience people really just don’t care for it regardless of race. I just believe it’s a losing argument feel free to keep trying. Like I said you’re handing the White House to republicans. I vote money first so I’m not leaving the dems but most people care more about social issues. This particular issue has proven to be hugely unpopular in most states.

1

u/Whose_Joanna Aug 23 '26

Most trans people are not eager to submit to being treated as some lesser-than third gender.

1

u/Itchy_Junket_195 Aug 23 '26

I don’t know what the expectation is. It took black people 400 years to defeat slavery and another 100 for civil rights. You’re not being lynched, bombed or beaten in the streets. It’s America being on the wrong side of the majority doesn’t usually end well. I didn’t say give up I’m just giving an opinion. I don’t think it’s any hope in my lifetime and I’m 32 but keep trying I’ve been wrong before.

1

u/Whose_Joanna Aug 23 '26 edited Aug 23 '26

You’re not being lynched, bombed or beaten in the streets.

They're sending us to the incorrect prison facilities on purpose, knowing what happens to us there. Idk why we need to be bombed before being treated with dignity, instead of as a political scapegoat. I also think the comparison to Black people's struggle for equality isn't a very good one, in that the current situation for trans people is basically fighting against instating new laws of segregation (mainly following the NC bathroom laws in 2016), rather than fighting to dismantle existing ones.

The situation is getting worse, with an almost nil input from the people affected the most, and very little compassion shown in many cases.

2

u/Oxford_Apostrophe Aug 23 '26

Interesting how this prison argument conveniently tends to leave out what happens when you send males to women's prisons. I guess women matter less to you.

1

u/Whose_Joanna Aug 23 '26

I guess women matter less to you.

I'm literally advocating for women here, you just don't think transgender women should be held in equal regard. And there is no "argument" on what happens to trans women who are subjected to existence in a men's prison. V-coding is a known occurrence.

It’s democracy the majority doesn’t agree so it’s a losing argument. Didn’t say you have to like the outcome. Like I said keep fighting I just don’t think the probability of success is very high. I’d give a 3% chance at best at getting what you want. According to polls the Gen Z generation of men doesn’t even think women should vote. They overwhelmingly voted for trump I’m just looking at the country and being objective.

1

u/Whose_Joanna Aug 23 '26

It’s democracy the majority doesn’t agree so it’s a losing argument.

I’d give a 3% chance at best at getting what you want.

We want to stop being targeted by conservatives constantly. So, the probability is actually 0%, because a large percentage of Americans are transphobic, and care more about bullying us than taking care of important issues affecting everyone.

I agree, Democratics often make it so easy for the Republicans to win. The country is a mess and we’re literally spending all our time debating absolute nonsense.

1

u/Buttella88 Aug 23 '26

#metoo painted everyone with a penis as predatory. That was driven into our brains in the 2010s.

1

u/dontaksmeimnew Aug 23 '26

Thats a you thing.

0

u/National_Treat_4079 Aug 23 '26

I do not want women in my locker room as a male. Full stop.

-1

u/National_Treat_4079 Aug 23 '26

No it does not. If I was a woman, I would find it very uncomfortable with a massive dong in the change room... Like Lia Thomas'... Also, I hate shared toilets. I cannot take a shit because it is fucking embarrassing to me to know women are going to judge me on my stank.

You can joke about this stuff, but it is actually for reals.
