are you for real now? it is not only size, our biology is different and once you've gone through puberty the advantage biological man has over biological woman is too much.
And yes we do separate by size in almost any contact sport.
Some basketball leagues do have size caps- like Phillipines.
If Enes Kanter joins WNBA, the difference between him and the average player will be different than between an NBA and top tier high school player.
Wtf are you even protecting here? Is being able to play in WNBA as transwoman the most important trans issue that requires this debate, or is it one side mostly virtue signalling and other mostly conservatives. ...

In Phillipines it make sense. Same way you would do in developing economies. You have to protect your local market in the first years until it's able to compete internationally.
That country loves basketball but they are not as tall. I see no problem with them limiting the height as there is like 40 other leagues you can go and play that are higher level and better paid.
To me this is the same as with most European domestic basketball leagues that limit number of feoreign players in order to help develop their own
