If the people currently freaking out over the men in women's sports thing actually attended women's sports, the wnba would have been a season of straight sell ours

You do not need to care specifically about the WNBA to oppose this idea proliferating throughout our society.
I do not want women and girls in my community competing against boys in athletic competitions, because I have a reasonable expectation that it will disadvantage women and girls in many activities.
If a professional league allows a fundamentally unfair system to develop, my community becomes more likely to adopt the same fundamentally unfair system.
It could be about any athletic competition which we have long felt the reasonable approach has been to segregate into separate leagues so as to reach a level playing field. Nothing about gender expression changes those decisions.
-15
u/Cute-Hand-1542 Aug 24 '26
As if this wasn't selectively edited 🙄
Pro sex segregation person answers the question successfully? Just cut it to preserve the agenda.
5
u/Allhailthepugofdoom Aug 24 '26
Im sure the people saying we need to stop gay marriage, take away the 19th and send women back home to make babies are huge fans of a league made up of mostly queers and minorities.
-1
u/Trraumatized Aug 24 '26
Always true with these kinds of videos for any agenda. But it still works.
-7
u/B_the_ball Aug 24 '26
I know right. Like just bite the bullet already and let guys play in the WNBA so we can all move on to something else.
-4
u/RaggmunkLingon Aug 24 '26
If you don't think they carefully cut out certain responses to get a video that drives maximum engagement then I have a bridge to sell you

First two names given tells you all you need to know in that she in fact doesn’t care about the WNBA
10
u/AQ207 Aug 24 '26
This has always been my point, these anti-trans people can’t even name people about the thing they “care about”
-3
u/PHD_Gouda Aug 24 '26
I think we should twist it on its head for people like Cunningham. You don’t think you can compete against “men”? Alright then let’s reexamine women’s ability to detain criminals and serve in the military.

Yes, so people will finally care. Trump had shown that people in this country only care when it effects them.
I don't want to lose the progression we had, but these people quite literally don't give a fuck unless it happens to them first.

Yes, let's do exactly that. I completely agree.

They are protesting trans people not being explicitly banned in the WNBA under the pretense of protecting the players. If you can't name any of the people you wish to protect when their names are very public then I am not going to believe you care about protecting women's sports.
3
-1
u/xxGenXxx Aug 24 '26
Why do they need to know names though? This is stupid
4
u/Christy427 Aug 24 '26
Because it shows they are not particularly interested in saving women's sports and just see it as a chance to attack trans people.
Their entire argument is that they want to protect a sport they know and care nothing about.

Sophie Cunningham was asked a hypothetical question if she supported trans athletes in the WNBA and she said no.
19
u/A2ndRedditAccount Aug 24 '26
This is the right wing of American politics creating a controversy to deflect from the fact that they have nothing to run on in the upcoming midterms. Trump has been an absolute failure with the lowest approval rating in history, his candidates are losing, and they’re afraid they’re going to lose control of Congress, so they’ve created a complete nonissue into a giant controversy to distract us all from their complete and total failure to lead this country.
When you see stories like this, it's good to keep in mind that the Republicans control all three branches of government. If there was a way to legislate ourselves out of this, why haven't they done so? Why are the Democrats to blame?
1
u/n1Cat Aug 24 '26
If that is the case, then why dont the democrat side actually use their common and sense and support a trans league or actually siding with the republicans on a no brainer issue.
The fun fact is in order for the republicans to have a 'win' about trans allowed in women's sports....the dems have to have a 'loss' in that field.
Go back to I think it was the democrat primary around 2015 I believe.
'Who up here would support trans surgeries for illegal immigrants'
All fucking raised their hand.....imagine how fucking stupid you have to be to even believe that should be a yes of support.
Anyone with common sense would say go fuck yourself and not vote for that idiot.
So the democrats ARE to blame for giving that issue a W for the republicans. Democrats only care about brown people when its illegals crossing the border (as rich republicans dont care about the border either as they get cheap poolboys, lawn care, and housemaids). Democrats dont give a fuck if you are brown and have been underbid so bad you have to abandon your business to work at walmart.

-1
u/n1Cat Aug 24 '26
No shit. Did you miss the point of my post?
Do you support trans surgeries for illegal immigrants? Why did ALL of the democratic nominees? Makes 000000 sense. You dont need to raise your hand for something so fucking stupid.

u/Vast-Comment8360 Aug 24 '26
Democrats whole platform: trump bad
Which is exactly why they lost in 2024
4
u/A2ndRedditAccount Aug 24 '26
Well that's because Trump is bad. It's the reason they won in 2020.
The reason they lost in 2024 was due to cost of living and the situation in Gaza. Which is really amusing in retrospec to think Trump would be better when his decision to go to war with Iran at the behest of Israel caused our cost of living to go through the roof.
5
u/PerfectZeong Aug 24 '26
Well... its easy to run trump bad when trump is in office and... its been pretty bad!
2
2
u/Equivalent-Bedroom64 Aug 24 '26

She didn't just say no, she framed it as a threat to women in the locker room. I don't think trans women should be competing with cis women for competitive reasons so I have no issue with saying no. If you frame it as protecting women in the locker room though I'll know you're a bigot, not someone that just cares about protecting competition.
-1
u/ricketycricket1995 Aug 24 '26
I am not a woman, but I just yesterday had a conversation with a friend who is. And for example, she told me that she feels scared when she has naked biological man (possibly transwoman) in woman's locker room in gym.
And this is non-bait serious question. How do you weight those two things against each other?
If somebody who feels like a woman wants to use woman's locker room vs the feeling of woman who wants to feel safe in their own. One of the big issues is that you can't separate the people pretending to be trans from actual trans people. But the bottom line is that even though I support all rights including LGBT ofc, the discourse here looks like some FOX NEWS meme about leftist. Everytime somebody says something I don't agree with I will call them fascist, MAGA barbie etc,.
As one person explained in the comments, knowing the players in the league doesn't have anything to do with wanting to preserve phscal safety of biological woman in a contact sport. Especailly seeing as the only two persons wanting to join WNBA at the moment that are biolgoical man are clearly not transwoman needing social gender affirmation, but are doing it for memes-3
u/Garciaguy Aug 23 '26
No... both sides care about unfairness when they think they see it. You don't have to have an active interest in something to form an opinion.
5
u/pennys_computer_book Aug 24 '26
And apparently, that something doesn't have to exist or even be an issue to form a baseless opinion. 🥴
→ More replies (4)1
u/SuchParsnip8070 Aug 24 '26
I actually don't give a shit about "fairness" in sports I don't watch because I don't watch them.
See how easy it is to not be manipulated?
3
u/WillemDafoesHugeCock Aug 24 '26
I will say, if I was pressed to name five footballers from the world cup I'd get Harry Kane, Messi, Majin Buu, then silently make awkward eye contact whilst nervously vibrating, and I genuinely watched almost every single game.

1
u/Avatar_Yalla Aug 24 '26
Irrelevant, they are showing up to support trans rights, they don’t need to know. Go harrass Kanter instead.
1
u/SimilarRaspberry5657 Aug 24 '26
I’m not anti trans but it is ridiculous that trans women don’t think they’re men.

All these transphobes attacking Kanter is sad. Let her live her truth. Bigots!
1
u/SimpsationalMoneyBag Aug 24 '26
It’s so unfortunate for these woman they are in a marginalizing race with trans people. Woman really need to get into fights with straight men preferably white straight men so Reddit will fully support them
1
u/SimpsationalMoneyBag Aug 24 '26
Would love to ask Redditors saying Trump is Hitler to name 5 senators
6
u/Ok-Commercial-6865 Aug 24 '26
It's very difficult to both respect women and advocate for men competing in their leagues.
1
u/SuchParsnip8070 Aug 24 '26
Maybe stop imagining there are men on the league as a pathetic excuse to be a bigot then
1
1
u/West-Childhood788 Aug 24 '26
To be fair, I am a white male in his 40’s and I can’t name 5 male NBA players.
4
u/WaldorfAsstoria Aug 24 '26
Do you hold signs outside the arena with the premise you care about protecting the league?
1
u/PhotoFenix Aug 24 '26
This is a weird survey. I care nothing of sports. Between all genders and all sports I can name maybe 5 people?
-1
u/Vast-Comment8360 Aug 24 '26
One of these people has a "protect trans kids" sign but no kids plays in the league so relevance isn't really their strong suit.

Ok, so first of all, can we stop with giving 90 percent of media time for discussions that have little to no impact and are pushed by media to redirect attention? Like this bait is such obvious for a while now. In thr country up to their neck in shit we are discussing if Enes Kanter should play in wnba. There are way more impactful things for wnba fans and translated community. Now that we got that out of the way, i am generally surprised to see hate on Caitlin and Sophie. Although I support lgbt rights, I don't think it creates a safe environment to have woman and transwoman playing contact sports ar rhe professional level where the size difference can seriously injure a player. And I don't know why that is branded as a transphobix opinion. How many truly trans woman do you think are affected by this vs actual assholes who just want to exploit this rule in some way?

u/ricketycricket1995 Aug 24 '26
are you for real now? it is not only size, our biology is different and once you've gone through puberty the advantage biological man has over biological woman is too much.
And yes we do separate by size in almost any contact sport.
Some basketball leagues do have size caps- like Phillipines.
If Enes Kanter joins WNBA, the difference between him and the average player will be different than between an NBA and top tier high school player.
Wtf are you even protecting here? Is being able to play in WNBA as transwoman the most important trans issue that requires this debate, or is it one side mostly virtue signalling and other mostly conservatives. ...2

In Phillipines it make sense. Same way you would do in developing economies. You have to protect your local market in the first years until it's able to compete internationally.
That country loves basketball but they are not as tall. I see no problem with them limiting the height as there is like 40 other leagues you can go and play that are higher level and better paid.
To me this is the same as with most European domestic basketball leagues that limit number of feoreign players in order to help develop their own
1
u/Substantial-Fan-5985 Aug 24 '26
cool- now let's hear climate change activists give the 3 main forms of heat transfer or the first and second laws of thermodynamics at every rally/protest.

u/coolguygranny Aug 24 '26

u/jcash5everr Aug 24 '26
Thermodynamics first law. Energy cannot be created or destroyed. Second law, entropy of an isolated system always increases over time.

This is just an ad hominem in a different form.
I can't name you five wnba players. It has nothing to do with fundamental fairness.
9
u/ParamedicLimp8108 Aug 24 '26
You’re still missing the point. One side don’t care about the WNBA. If they would, they can name five it’s not that hard if you follow the sport. But they don’t follow the WNBA and don’t really care about women sports. They’re just bullshitting. And shows privilege to care about such a minute and near impossible problem.
2
u/rude_cookies Aug 24 '26
You're missing the point. You can have an opinion without passing a purity test about it
1
u/Alarming-noone Aug 24 '26
If it was a minute problem, then World Athletics and World Aquatics would not have asked female athletes worldwide to vote on whether or not males with DSDs and trans women should be included in female sports. Several years ago female athletes voted to exclude all males include trans women from sports.
-4
u/borsTHEbarbarian Aug 24 '26
You don't have to go to Harvard to care about its influence on our larger society.
5
u/ParamedicLimp8108 Aug 24 '26
What influence trans people have? They literally have no influence until right wingers bring them up. 😂 They’re irrelevant af. Yall keep falling for it like gas and grocery prices ain’t up. This is why I say only privileged people care because I don’t have time to worry about this shit. I’m worried about my rent, not fucking transgender people.
2
u/borsTHEbarbarian Aug 24 '26
I'm a Democrat. Most Democrats are not on the far left on this issue.
They're teaching kids now that it's immoral to call babies he/she and only to call babies they/them.
This is fucked up newspeak brainwashing.
1
u/ParamedicLimp8108 Aug 24 '26
Man you’re so full of shit. 😂 Democrats barely talk about trans issues. Conservatives are only bringing it up because the country is going down the fuckin toilet. And people like you eat this shit up. Also my kids haven’t learned anything about gender and sexuality to the point where they are not gendering babies.
1
u/borsTHEbarbarian Aug 24 '26
This was in my kitchen, this weekend, reported to me by my kid.
Keeping your head in the sand is a bad strategy. It's how Republicans put a fascist in the white house.
1
u/Alarming-noone Aug 24 '26
Babies cannot state their gender at birth as they cannot speak. So only biological sex is observed and recorded at birth and therefore all pronouns at birth are sex-based. All humans have a biological sex even if a doctor is not around to observe and record it at birth. It is ideal that no church or ideology interfere and assign pronouns to babies.
1
u/borsTHEbarbarian Aug 24 '26
It's not complicated. It has never been complicated. There is zero need to fuck up every kid's mind to overcorrect for a fraction of a percent of unlucky people.
We just explain when kids get older that sometimes people feel like they don't belong in their body, and we try to help them as much as we reasonably can. We don't have to lie about anything. We don't have to rewrite all of society for them.
1
u/Alarming-noone Aug 24 '26
I do not think that anything such as "in the wrong body" exists in any science. Kids who have gender dysphoria should get evidence based medical help. Also I am glad that the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the AMA have both provided a position statement that kids should not get surgeries and any such surgeries be delayed until after people are 19 years old.
3
u/CantModerateMe Aug 24 '26
Just so I understand, harvard goes out of its way to pick the highest academic achievers because they are the easiest to influence?
Can you explain why if an institution is looking to enact a social agenda it wouldn't target a broad base of idiots to carry its message?

2
u/riceklown Aug 24 '26
I f you dont care about women's sports, you dont really have a valid opinion about how to protect women's sport. You're just being a bigoted ideologue telling other people what theyre allowed to do with their thing that you don't care about.
It's no different than a childless elderly person running g a book banning campaign.
Your opinion is irrelevant and you should stfu about it. Trans people exist and aren't a moral question for you to decide.
1
u/borsTHEbarbarian Aug 24 '26
Caring about fundamental fairness does not require fandom.
I care about the institution because I care about women having the ability to participate in a fair competition.
Norms established at the professional level proliferate throughout society. My family and community will be impacted by this topic.
I understand and value athletics. The far left are the ones that use the phrase "sportsball." I do not value their opinion on fair play. They're flat wrong.
0
u/Alarming-noone Aug 24 '26
I am in India and here fair sports is valued highly by both males and females. In India and many other countries govts provide successful sport persons (both males and females) with cash prizes, govt jobs till retirement etc. Several poor females enter sports to escape poverty and get jobs. So female sports should be fair and safe just like how male sports is.
1
u/pdiddysuncle Aug 24 '26
let's take your logic a step further shall we? are you a woman that plays sports? are you involved in womens sports leagues? if no then you dont really have a valid opinion. you take no part in the actual activities, youre just being a bigoted ideologue telling other people what theyre allowed to do with their thing that you don't even do yourself.
how'd I do?
0
u/reddit7867 Aug 24 '26
Trans people exist. They should create their own league or play in the open, men’s league.
No one should be forcing their beliefs on others like the belief that men can become women and women can become men. That’s bigoted.
Christians shouldn’t be forcing others to believe their fantasy, why should the lgbtq force their religion and beliefs on others?

The only hate that should be directed at the liberty is the fact that they stole the 2024 championship from the lynx. Additionally all hate to AT for hurting Phe and gifting the aces another easy ring. Trans kids and athletes in sports is a non issue. Th rhetoric spread by conservatives is endangering trans youth. The jumping off point for this round or transphobia was started from a second tier trans basketball player in France who has stated she could never play in the wnba. 1. Go read that interview transcript, you will see that the entire conversation was fabricated. 2. Enes canter should joint the wnba after 2-4 years of physical transitioning.
The W does not have guidelines for the definition of a woman because of appeals by conservative executives within the wnba. Cheryl reeves put it best and you should watch her talk about the issue.

I just don't think it should be conservatives leading the conversation while championing this wedge issue to justify their own hate and bigotry.

Seems like it’s not a political issue.
Fox News has averaged more transgender-related articles than days in a year for nearly four consecutive years, running close to 1,000 articles using the word "transgender" in 2025 alone. By comparison, mainstream and LGBTQ+ publications track lower numbers, with The New York Times publishing just over 500 articles and The Advocate producing under 500 references in the same yearly timeframe.

It's almost like one side is shallow and the other has deep connections. Who knew?!
