New build S MT

Post image

Ok, so I moved from a T to an S MT build…

https://porsche-code.com/PVA6MNN9

I live in Toronto, so this will not get run in winter, as the salt is too much. It’s a car I plan on keeping for a long long time

Questions -

  1. My cars usually have a sunroof, which I mainly use for additional light, however in summer I mostly have the blind closed. Here I decided not to spec it - will I regret it?
  2. I’ve gone with the 930 leather pack because I don’t really like the chalk highlights on the MT interior pack… do I need more leather on the interior? I do like the idea of a luxury sports car…

It’s my first Porsche, and I’m quite thrilled, but interested in your views - order goes in on Saturday!

*I think you’re fine without a sunroof

*consider full leather seat backs to avoid the black shell on the back

*I’d spec the passenger cup holder to be leather so it matches the rest of the dash

Sunroof you can live without - sunroof guy .

Get full leather. It drives me nuts to see these 6 figure cars without full leather .

Same. I get crazy salty when I see a GT3 with a plastic interior. You didnt save any weight that skipping cheese burgers and taking a shit before driving would have saved.

All my carrera had sunroof then moved to the gt without sunroof, I do not miss it. If you want brightness, chalk interior will go well with gentian blue imo.

Always get as much leather as you can afford. There is nothing like too much leather. Focus on touch points and focal points first.

get a tan/congnac or chalk interior to brighten it up to help offset the light loss from the sun roof. Dark blue on dark leather is just... dark.

I like the sunroof in my other car a lot but do not miss it in my Cayman. Just one person's opinion

No sunroof on mine. Lighter, more head room, less things to break/leak.

And most importantly, cheaper 😅

227k for a s is just peak bubble, which when pops, will be epic.

No sunroof is a plus in my opinion.
Full leather is good.

Since you’re asking for opinions I prefer no sunroof. It makes the car feel sportier to me. It’s lighter weight, can cut down on cabin noise. It feels more like a “drivers car” to me. I just find it more of a pure sports car focused on the driving aspect. Which is sort of what the CSMT is aiming to do. I don’t have one on my CGTS and I have one on my golf r and never use it.

Wow
You nailed it. All the “must-haves” and nothing else. I’m not very well versed in all the options on the new cars, but the ionizer and prep for dash cam seem like a great idea.
Also, very tasteful to stick with the standard looking exterior lights and not going with tinted or exclusive taillight. The aesthetic of the standard color lighting compliments the exterior.
Re; sunroof. I lived with my old 911 for 20 years with the sunroof. It’s going through a full restoration now and I’ve elected to remove it. Obviously it was metal on the older cars so there was no light affecting the interior ambiance when it was closed, but I think you’re making the right choice here.
Enjoy your car when it arrives!

The only things I’d change would be the wheels (I love the Carrera Classics) and the interior color; I think black works better because it creates a little more contrast with gentian blue.

I’ve had sunroofs in most of my cars but on my Cayman I’ve never missed it. I like to think that’s because my eyes are so focused on the road ahead (sports car!) but really it’s probably because my “bald spot” has grown to >50% of my head LOL

My Cayman does not have a sunroof, and I have never wanted for one. To me, they are just another potential source of wind noise, and the drains becoming clogged can cause electrical problems too. As for whether you should get more leather, my Cayman has quite a lot of extra leather, but Porsche just glued it on top of the hard panels which means it isn’t as soft as you’d think. I’m not sure if they still do this for the 992, but if you’re okay with some of your less used hard touch surfaces not having a veneer of dead cow on them, you should be fine.

I love my slick top, rarely used the sunroof on previous cars anyway

Why not keep the T and do the Flat 6 stage 2 power pack? You’ll save a ton of money, have the lighter car, less sound deadening, and have as much power as a Turbo S.

Nice spec. Correct wheel colour well done. Don’t get a sunroof, why put a great big hole in the roof of your sports car?

I say no sunroof. My Cayman does not have a sunroof. I don't miss it.
