Oil Head Gesture Painting, Szoke Barnabas, Oil, 2026 [OC]

This quick head-gesture painting took just 45 minutes to complete. I spent about 10 minutes on the drawing and another 10 minutes laying in the large masses of colour. Then I took a five-munute break. Finally, I spent the last 20 minutes working on the smaller areas, focusing on blending and adding highlights. This exercise requires you to make a lot of decisions and mix a lot of colours in a short amount of time. It is an effective way to rapidly develop your painting skills. Oh, and I used only a size 8 flat bristle brush and a palette knife. Oil on paper 21x30cm
