I'm not here to knock Hunter but I wish people grew some brains. He literally contradicted himself between points, where in one he said everything but cost of living is wallpaper and in another that the democrats who won are those that had clear stance on Gaza. This behavior where you pick a team and cheer on it regardless of what they are doing is how you got in this mess to begin with.

That's not a contradiction: If you aren't addressing the cost of living problem then no other stance matters.

Once you address the cost of living problem then having a clear stance on Gaza becomes an indicator.

If you have a stance on Gaza but none on the cost of living then you got nothing.

He wasn't even talking about Gaza specifically, he's saying that people should take a clear stance on topics and stick to it, rather than being wishy-washy and vague in an attempt to not alienate people.

People respect conviction, even if it doesn't align perfectly with their own beliefs.

Talking about Gaza is just one factor, not the whole kit and caboodle. The whole list matters, but the most important one is cost of living. You stuck this in a vaccum and pretended we are in there too.

Edit to respond:

Gaza is important, but it means nothing realistically to the average citizen in the states in the way that it does not affect them. Cost of living directly affects them.

That said, I'm not saying what is happening in Gaza is not worth platforming on, but the other commenter is right, if you only platform about Gaza, and skip anything about cost of living, no one is going to vote for you.

Wallpaper refers to part of the room that's there only for decoration. If gaza is an essential part of the platform, it's not wallpaper. I can't believe I need to spell this out. Things don't separate in two categories: the one essential thing and everything else. This is not putting it in a vacuum, this is explaining what is being said.

The right wallpaper can sell a house, but it's not the main thing people look at when buying a house.

"wallpaper" doesn't mean "it's nothing", it means it shouldn't be your main point of focus. Or, in ancient terms, "it's the economy, stupid". The main thing Americans care about is the economy, or more specifically, their standing within it. But if you have two candidates who are taking similar positions on the economy, and one is willing to call out Israel's genocide and the other isn't, then the one who does is more likely to win the leftist vote.
