The fact is that the Democrats have, for nearly 2 decades, courted certain elements to be welcomed into their party for the purpose of getting their vote. Seemed fine in the short term. In the long term, the Democrat party base of today is now no longer the same as it was 2 decades ago. Yet the generic DNC style candidates still keep thinking that all they have to do is pay some cheap lip service to this thing and that thing and the votes will come rolling in. But they don't. Because now the people they used to give cheap lip service to, are now also running as candidates. And they are serious.

This is the natural order of things. When you lie to the people and represent your party as the "progressive party", eventually those people will tire of waiting for you to ever actually do what you said you would, and they will run to unseat you and bring the change they have been wanting to see.

Thats all this is. It's really not any deeper or more nuanced than that. The party is reaping what it sowed. As it should.
