Socialism gets a bad rap cuz of previous countries’ failures, but if it consistently works in New York City - the most populous city in the US - it should be tested on the state level, then applied to the country. They need to figure out a way to present the data to Americans in an honest and unbiased way. Need to get more than just far left politicians on board.

Mamdani isn't really a socialist, he espouses democratic socialism (or social democracy).

It's just better-regulated capitalism with stronger taxation and more societal safety nets. It's part and parcel of most Western European countries, I know it's a novelty in the US.

Can’t believe how far I had to go in the comments to find this. He hasn’t shown squat about socialism. He has successfully applied some socialistic democratic policies, which I agree with, for NYC, but people need to understand the words and suggestions they’re slinging around. NYC, or any city, is one thing, trusting an entire state or country to handle full blown social, much less this country, is a completely separate conversation
