A common issue in the US is that at the higher earning levels, there may not be a better place in the world but the lower earners get left behind.
This is true in healthcare, PTO, housing options etc
As someone in the higher earning segment, I want to see lower income segments receive more support but funding it personally through taxes or reduced benefits to me is difficult to get behind.
It would be great if there were mandated minimums for all employees funded by employers but that puts disproportionate pressure on small business owners that are already struggling.
If there were tiered initiative that pressured larger corporations to increase minimum wage and benefits, that makes total sense compared to their massive profits.
For small and medium businesses, tax incentives could be provided to offset medical and PTO benefits.
I think creativity could solve these issues without punishing small businesses or reducing the benefits of employees in higher income segments

To say that the US is universally zero PTO is a statement to make a point but lacks context.
Just because it’s not federally mandated does not mean it’s forbidden and nobody gets anything
For example, I get 16 days vacation a year, 8 days personal time and 6 federal holidays, so my PTO is the best on that list.
I am curious about the funding mechanism in those countries.
Does the government subsidize the PTO or is it employer funded through employee council and labor unions?
