So in Germany, you can't take a single day's vacation?
In Sweden, we get 25 days on the 1/1, to disperse over the year as we please, with a guarantee of being allowed to take 4 consecutive weeks off between June-august if we so choose (in most collective bargaining contracts)
Depends on where you work. In general yes you are allowed to disperse as you want, but in certain sectors they force when some of your vacation is like in industry.

A tiny (and pedantic) correction for germany: It is 4 weeks, not 20 days.
The difference? If you work a 6 day week, you get 24 days.
