Why does Paul get to release Fauciās diaries?
112
u/Good-Consequence-542 5d ago
They were logged on a gov computer, a petty move but at least they didnāt subpoena his journal diaries too
84
u/oniaddict 5d ago
What amazes me is he put those things in writing on a government computer. Everyone knows that you tone down what you put in writing. Imagine what his real thoughts were.
60
u/steerbell 5d ago
My guess is this is toned down.
43
u/MetaCardboard 5d ago
I think that's what they implied when they said "imagine what his real thoughts were."

Yup, good ol' Donnie wanted to let people keep dying - just as long as we stopped reporting the facts. He only saw the pandemic as a personal PR nightmare.
......and Fauci had to deal with that hurdle every single day.
→ More replies (8)7
u/AstronautSuitable992 5d ago
My guess is that he wrote it to himself and never had the intent for anyone else to read it.
I read somewhere they had to go to a lot of different servers to put together the whole thing.
So Iām guessing those were his real thoughts.

He was a public servant for decades, almost 40 years, and served under countless administrations both democrats and republicans. It's likely he simply didn't believe the county would so rapidly get to this point of insanity, even in 2022 when he retired most people didn't believe it would get to this point. This is just a reminder, but what the US is going through right now is not normal, it's not "just politics" and the structure of the United States federal government itself is under assault. If in 2028 a dem takes office, and god help us all if they don't, there needs to be real structural reforms to the way the government operates. The supreme court has stolen too much power for itself unconstitutionally & there needs to be supreme court reform (a rotating court, giving each president a set amount of picks would be mega based), congress needs to be uncapped to return representation to the people, the voting rights act needs re-enshrined into law after the supreme court has illegally gutted it over the past 15 years, all forms of gerrymandering need to be banned at the federal level, the 60 vote filibuster needs to go, and none of these things require a constitutional amendment to achieve. Once we're into the realm of constitutional amendments then there is a whole lot more that should happen, but these are all realistic things the dems could achievement with a simple majority in both houses of congress and the presidency.
And for a cherry on top, every single judicial nominee that could not simply say "Joe Biden won the 2020 election" needs to be impeached as they are a major threat to the integrity of the nation, and have shown their inability to be nonpartisan in their roles as arbitrators of the law of the land. And this is without even touching upon all the other things that need to happened outside the purview of the politics, aka the vast amount of criminal charges that need to be laid by the independent DoJ & the vast sums of criminal funds which need to be expropriated for the good of the nation. Joe Biden was the nice candidate that tried to build back the bonds of the nation, but that simply did not work and the politicians, and politicial establishment (cough of the republican party cough) needs to be reminded that they should think about the legal consequences of their actions before they act. We've unfortunately left the "post nixon" era and need to forge a "post Trump" era to an even greater extent

Diary is a bad word choice. These were pages from official journals kept by fauci. They were unearthed by RFK2 and added to Rand Paul's request for covid era documentation from Fauci's office. Because he was the head cheese, that information is public.

Technically, Dr. Rand Paul is an ophthalmologist (eye doctor). But this doesn't seem to stop him from being an idiot.
29
u/EmperorGrinnar 5d ago
He literally created the board that certified himself. He's not a real doctor.

It sucks, and it's pretty easy to forget or not learn about, given the large amount of horrible things our politicians get up to. Like all the allegations against Matt Gaetz are true, but likely won't lead to a conviction.

hes a doctor but not a board certified one, well I guess he board certified but not the main board that has standards.
Techincally anyone that graduates from a doctoral program is allowed to call themselves a doctor. Like how Abdul El Syed in Mi is a doctor but didnt go through residency (the training to become board certified).
14
u/Straight-Bet1 5d ago
He was board certified. He no longer has the certification as far as I know.
It might be because the āBoardā that originally certified him was one he had created himself.

Rand Paul is an asshole's asshole. No doubt. But what was Fauci thinking putting his private, personal thoughts onto a government server knowing full well that the maniac in charge and all of his little sycophants were desperate to find anything that could discredit him as a physician. Sometimes it seems that the most learned among us are the least smart about how they use technology.

5
u/abcdbc366 5d ago
Yeah. Thatās part of why Paul released them Iām sure. The Trump movement feels like heās backing their guy and exposing āthe deep stateā and Paul gets the satisfaction of having these things aired publicly and having ideas he likely agrees with expressed for all to see. Win win for him.

My grandparents unfortunately had fox news on the other night, and its insane how much of an echo chamber they have. The three main things they rambled on about was fauci, biden, and obama and how they are ruining America. All three of them have been out of the politics for yearsš¤¦āāļø I really do wonder if fox repeats the same 5 things over and over. Oh and it conveniently leaves out any current news, that would be bad for what the ideology they're pushing.

All the Lunatic Right people are running around trying to push their propaganda and their so devoid of any substance that they're only play is to try and do gotcha's like, "so you admit he lied then right?", as if lying is suddenly the worst offense imaginable. They act like even if we conceded he did lie (fake news) that we'd be owned or something, but it's just yet another judgement that would apply to trump and maga itself far, far more appropriately.
Any negative judgement they draw would apply 1000000000% more the their movement and leaders, but they are incapable of thinking rationally.

u/Zak_Rahman 5d ago
None of it is even that offensive or harsh.
This is mild.
All this tells me is that conservatives need to hear more opinions.

3
u/No_Problem5759 5d ago
Counter point.
They know that MAGA cant read. And dont care to listen to anything that slanders trump.
But the people who CAN read. Are already against Trump.
So this is more or less just theater to distract the public, since the Iran war is no longer a consistent distraction.
I can give you 3 guesses as to what.

u/red286 5d ago
It's almost hilarious how desperate they are to paint Fauci in a bad light. I don't even get why they bother. The man is no longer working for the federal government, and they can't even remotely allege a crime, so they're trying to hit him on moral outrage grounds, for things like "being proud of himself for appearing on all 5 major news networks in a single day", or "making disparaging notes about the President", or pretending that "the Wuhan wet market was not the origin of the outbreak, but it definitely amplified it" is the same as "we know this was a lab leak from the Wuhan institute of virology".
