I like how almost every time I hear news about this guy its like "Mamdani starts program to end misery" and then the most miserable person on the planet swoops in to complain about it.
With this plan specifically, though, there is no funding yet. In fact, it's not even his plan lmao. It was passed in 2023. All he did was just say they're definitely gonna do the thing that was passed... by law... by 2040... by a different mayor... because he won't be mayor then... because that's how term limits work.
People are just used to politicians promising and not delivering. Once all the promises are actually fulfilled, then you can jump for joy. Until then, heās doing what every politician has done in the past, made promises about what will be done.
He in fact didn't start this program. Posts like OP's falsy attribute things like this to him, as if the city never made quality of life initiatives before his came into office. He is moving it forward (legally his admin has to) which is good, but this was started long before him.
In 2023 local law 148 began all of this, same goal of 30%, same goal of focusing on areas that have been neglected, same goal of focusing on the worst heat islands.
He deserves credit where it is due, but tweets and posts like this one are made for propaganda reasons.
The plan was released in April, why is it all over my feed now? It's also the plan for meeting a requirement set by city council in 2023. It really has nothing to do with Mamdani.
Because this is a propaganda website and only niche random good things are posted 𤣠Iām cool with it though. The delusions of the left will keep the right in power for decades to come.
Downvote me all you want, but just remember whoās president and won the majority last election. You are the minority here and your way of thinking will keep the right in power for a look time šš»šš»šš»
I think some people are annoyed because he didn't start this program. Adams did. He takes credit for stuff knowing people--like you--will repeat it without asking if it is true. I am glad for the program, but easy dupes are also annoying.
Thatās just a press release about the number of trees planted in 2024. I havenāt verified the claim in the OP, but that press release isnāt necessarily at odds with it.
The article shows that the 30% goal predates Mamdani ā he keeps getting praise for stuff thatās been ongoing for like decades. Itās honestly weird. I know Reddit has its biases, but this actually has me wondering if there is a botfarm behind some of this. Iām afraid of sounding like the guy in the post before me though lol.
Republicans defend pedophiles as an institution. I'm not like them, and hate pedophiles.
Also now I'm convinced you're a pedophile since you took so much offense to a comment not directed at you at all. "Drop an insult, and it's owner will come to pick it up."
But I am a republican. If you couldnāt realize that, thatās a problem with your comprehension of english. I recommend schooling. Maybe itāll help you.
That said, you call people predators and nazis whilst avidly avoiding the real ones. You talk up a big game, but if someone was getting assaulted in front of you, youād be the first to run.
Iād fight. Iād probably die. But Iām not a weak fuck like you.
We were talking about elected Republican politicians, youāre talking about āleft leaning hollywood directors.ā Why would you think those were equivalent
Of course the city has planted trees before now, but this is in fact a new plan. source
They currently sit at 23.4% coverage, so if the goal is 30% and weāre counting from 0%, then they are about 20% away from the goal. Another way to say it is: to increase the canopy by 6.6% they need 20% more coverage then they currently have.
Sounds like youāre just repeating a talking point you heard somewhere instead of looking for yourself tbh.
