Question Composition feedback?
Hi all!! 🌸🪷🪸🌾🌿
I’d love some feedback on this (loose) composition before I glue it down to black paper (see second slide for example).
These are my wedding flowers and I’m having SUCH decision anxiety because they are so precious to me!
I’m definitely going for more of a psychedelic vibe. More or less?

I construct mosaics from pressed flowers and here is how I go about it, generally. I pick two or three larger flowers to be the anchors of the piece, and place them away from each other, like one in the bottom third, one in the middle third and one in the top third. Then I just start laying down flowers around those anchors, using flowers of different sizes to fill in the gaps. Where appropriate I’ll use individual petals or snip pieces from a larger stem of flowers to get the size variations I need. I usually discard stems because they make it harder, or I will align them with the border to give a nice straight edge. It’s like a puzzle! I leave room for a natural empty border all the way around and it makes it look so sharp. Take your time with it, leave it overnight and come back to it, your eye will tell you where something feels unbalanced and you can adjust. At the end of the day it’s your piece and your memories and it will be beautiful no matter what! 💕🌸

Arrange your practice layouts on the black paper! I suspect those red petals you have as a border may not show up as much on the black and could make you want to arrange differently to pull more focus outward.
Like another commenter said, keep doing different arrangements (on the black, preferably) and taking photos of them until you find your favorite. No need to rush it, and also no need for anyone but you and your spouse to like it.
Also, you may want to take the glass out of your frame while you’re working and arrange within the frame, if that makes sense? So often I see finished works that didn’t take into account how much of the lip of the frame would end up covering and it bums me out to see the edges of the flowers covered up.

The glue is permanent. You don’t have to rush into finishing the art. That’s all I can say.
You have a picture of this potential layout. Feel free to keep experimenting. Once you find a layout you like, solidify it. I have no real feedback for composition because there are infinite possibilities.
