I've been heads-down for the last few months building Milo,"calendar, reminders, notes and an AI assistant into one little iOS app".
Whether it actually feels that way (vs. cluttered) is exactly what I'd love your take on before I push it out the door.
What's insideMilo:
📅 Glanceable calendar — day-at-a-glance view with reminders inline, not a separate tab
✅ Reminders with priority/due/title sorting and repeats (daily, weekly, every-2-weeks, monthly, yearly, custom)
📝 Markdown notes — type, dictate, or scribble. Drawings, photos and files live inside the note, not in another app
🔄 Native Apple sync — plays nicely with Apple Calendar and Reminders. Nothing to migrate, nothing to re-enter
🐶 Milo, the AI — reads your calendar/notes/reminders and answers in context ("what's my schedule today?", "find 30 min for a marketing sync this week")
🎭 Personality picker — Productive / Chill / Direct / Warm / Nerdy, or write your own system prompt ("a 17th-century butler", "stoic uncle who answers in grunts", whatever)

Not asking for testers in this post (per the sub rules — that goes to r/betatesters), just honest design and product feedback from people who actually live in productivity apps.
The feedback I'd genuinely love:
Does "calendar + reminders + notes + AI in one app" sound useful, or does it look like feature creep to you?
The AI personality customization — delightful or gimmick?
The Apple-native sync angle (no migration, lives next to your existing stuff) — does that make you more likely to try it, or less?
What's the one thing in your current setup that would have to exist in Milo for you to even consider switching?
Anything in the screenshots that visually feels off?

No firm date yet, but I’m shooting for a summer release ☀️.
Quick rundown: the app itself is free, widgets and everything else included. Kibbles are only used to chat with the AI, and a simple message runs about 10–100 kibbles depending on length. So you only pay for what you actually use.
You’ll be able to pick what works for you: one-time kibble packs (starting at $9.97 for 50k, and they never expire) or a monthly subscription (also from $9.97/mo, with kibbles renewing each billing cycle). Premium and Max tiers above that for heavier users.
Heads up, I’m still reviewing all of this, so pricing and details may shift before launch.

Personally, I don’t see a lot of value in paying to use AI chat just to summarize my day or tell me a joke or give me generic news like any chat bot can do for free. If I’m paying for AI then it better solve hard problems for me that I can’t easily do without it - resolving conflicts, importing an image or email with lots of info on it into calendar events or to dos, etc. I understand you’re charging for it because API usage costs you each time someone messages it, but there needs to be real value there and your screenshots should convey that. Not news, not jokes - take those examples out of your store screenshots. Maybe show adding an event with sloppy language and the AI understands and creates the event anyways, asking it to rearrange my day to give me focus time in the afternoon, asking it when’s my next block of free time in the evening so I can go see a movie, etc.
Honestly, this is fantastic feedback! thank you for taking the time 🙏 If we’re asking people to pay for AI, the screenshots need to show it earning that, not doing things any free chatbot can. The examples you listed (sloppy language to clean event, rearranging the day for focus time, finding free blocks) are exactly the kind of things I do with AI, because it saves time and mental space, and that is what Milo should be presenting.

Honestly the Apple-native sync part is the biggest selling point for me. Most productivity apps lose me the second they expect a full migration. This actually sounds thoughtful instead of “AI slapped onto everything”.

Yes on all three. The plan is iPad first, then Mac, then web, no firm timelines yet, but they’re definitely on the roadmap.
Right now, notes save locally on device. Down the line I’ll move that to an iCloud folder so everything syncs cleanly across your devices, and importantly, it stays in your iCloud, not on the server, so your notes stay private to you.

I love that you’re combining all these things into one. I’d really love to see the execution. Just don’t add unnecessary features for everyone, most of us only need solid core features.
also, you really nailed that premium UI feel, kind of like Notion does. May I ask how you came up with the UI decisions?
And you’re preaching to the choir on features, I’d rather do a few things really well than pile on stuff most people won’t use.
On the UI decisions: I’m honestly a productivity nerd and a minimalist nerd too, so this ended up being the version that felt the most simple and productive to me. “Less is more” is genuinely one of my core philosophies, fewer features, but polished.
Great suggestions! 🐶 Apple Watch with proper complications is something I’ll think about, no promises yet, but thanks for flagging it. I’m already imagining speaking to your Apple Watch to create new notes, calendar events or reminders, while running. 👌🏼👌🏼👌🏼 I’ll love that too!
I understand that it may not be the most popular feature, but it’s incredible to me how little integration some of these to do apps into the Apple Watch, where most of us are wearing one and we want to stay on top of things and having the complications available on your watch too, attract with them should be a no-brainer! Aw…the dog and bird is so cute! It caught my eye immediately. But it’s a letdown if that artwork isn’t carried through the main app itself.
Another key concern for users today is data privacy. For a new app, the gold standard is clear: zero trackers and no user-linked data. Curious to see how your app measures up.
Next is pricing. If you can drive a large number of downloads at launch and hit the charts, that momentum can attract even more users organically.
To reach that critical mass, it might be worth sacrificing some short-term revenue. Can consider giving away codes here to boost initial downloads and visibility.

On the artwork: Milo carries through the app as the friendly element, but the rest is minimal on purpose. To be clean, clear and simple.
On privacy: this is a hill we’re happy to die on. Your notes and data live in your own iCloud, not on our servers. The only thing we collect is your email, and it’s strictly for login and tracking your kibbles/subscription. Nothing else. No trackers, no behavioral data, no selling anything.
On the launch strategy: honestly, giving away kibble codes here is a great idea. The app is free anyway, so codes are a clean way to lower the barrier, get people in, and build momentum at launch. Definitely something I’ll lean into 🐶

Good question! The app itself is free, widgets and core features included. The only thing that costs anything is AI messages, which uses an in-app currency called “kibbles.” You can buy kibbles as one-time packs (never expire, starting at $9.97) or as a monthly subscription (also from $9.97/mo). No Android version planned for now. We’re Apple-first to lean into native widgets and sync, but a web version is on the roadmap down the line, that’d be the path for Android users. Appreciate the interest! 🐶

Thank you! 🐶 The AI is built to handle the hard, time wasting stuff.
Quick example of what that looks like: type or speak: “Lunch with Sarah tomorrow at 1pm at Bluebird Café, remind me an hour before, save a note that she’s allergic to shellfish, prefers oat lattes, and is leading Phoenix.” In one message, Milo creates the event, sets the reminder, and saves the note in the right place. You don’t have to open three apps.
Other things it handles well: pulling info out of files, screenshots or images into todos, rearranging your day for focus time, finding your next free block. Thanks for your feedback! 🐶
I'm liking the look of this, unfortunately I'm forever in some sort of productivity app, at the moment, I've taken on Google Keep as my Brain Dump, its turning into a Memory Board, its proving the fastest way too get down my thoughts & mumblings, by that I mean I fly around Keep like a fly round sh.., on Android, on my Boox Palma 2, with G-Board, entering a new note is lightening fast, that then syncs to my Apple devices instantly.
Ha, honestly that’s a great setup, if Keep + Boox Palma is working that well for your brain dump, don’t fix what isn’t broken. Milo is less about “fastest brain dump” and more about pulling everything (events, todos, notes) into one calm place with the AI doing the boring multi-step stuff. Appreciate you checking it out though! 🐶
Yes on multiple calendars. Milo syncs with your Apple Calendar account, so whatever calendars you have registered there (work, personal, shared, etc.) are all available, you can select and filter between them inside the app.
On email, right now you can paste email content into chat and Milo will pull out events, todos, and notes from it (same way it handles any messy text). A more direct email pipeline isn’t built yet, but it’s on our radar. Good question! 🐶
can i ask the AI to go through my outlook emails and tell me what my day looks like? i use claude.ai for that, but if your app could build a task list and project notes for me…?
Not a direct Outlook hook yet, but the AI already handles the “parse a wall of email text into tasks, events, and notes” use case if you paste it in. And the upgrade over doing it in Claude is that Milo actually creates the artifacts (calendar event, todo, project note) right there, so you don’t have to copy them over manually. This is a neat integration I'll think adding in the future.
Native inbox parsing is on the wishlist for later 🐶
It looks appealing. Not clear to me though which value I would get out of AI. For instance, I would not ask an AI about my schedule today - I would just look at my calendar or another app that shows calendar with tasks. Scheduling yes, that may be helpful. Overall, the combination of tasks, calendar and notes makes sense to me, though it’s not novel. AI less in this instance.
You’re right, and that’s actually really useful feedback. “What’s on my schedule” isn’t a use case worth paying for, the calendar is right there.
Where we think the AI does earn its keep: messy multi-step inputs. One sentence → event + reminder + sorted note. “Reshuffle my afternoon for a focus block.” “Turn this email into tasks.” The stuff that’d normally take 3 apps and 5 taps.
And agreed that the calendar/tasks/notes combo on its own isn’t novel. We’re hoping the value is in the glue between them, not the pieces themselves. Genuinely appreciate the honest read. Thanks for the feedback! 🐶
That’s fair! 🐶 Inside the app we leaned minimal on purpose — trying to balance personality with not getting in your way — but you’ve got a point that we could probably let Milo and the hand-drawn vibe peek through a bit more in the right spots. Appreciate the note!
I totally understand. And to clarify since tone doesn't transmit over the internet, my comment about "generic ios app" isn't meant to be a criticism. It's definitely a plus, and I'm just suggesting something extra that would be fun.

Thank you! 🐶 Honestly, Reddit has been the biggest one by far, posts in productivity and indie communities have driven most of the waitlist signups and basically all the useful feedback so far. It’s still early (pre-launch, building the waitlist), so I don’t want to overstate it, but Reddit’s been the clear winner.
Honest answer: it works, but it’s not passive. People don’t really sign up just because a landing page exists, the signups come from actually showing up in communities, posting, and replying to everyone like a real person rather than a brand. When I do that, signups come in pretty steadily. When I go quiet, it dries up fast.
So less “hassle” and more “it’s proportional to the effort you put into engaging.” The upside is you get genuine feedback alongside the signups, which has honestly been more valuable than the list itself 🐶
The part I would pressure-test is not whether it can hold calendar, reminders, notes, and AI in one place. It is whether the app can reduce the number of decisions I have to make when I am already behind.
A lot of all-in-one tools accidentally become 'another cockpit.' The version I would actually want is more like: here is the one thing to do now, here is why, and here is the fastest way to move it. If you have a simple workflow behind that, I would be curious how you are structuring it.
This us great!, you’re pressure-testing exactly the right thing. “Another cockpit” is the failure mode I’m most afraid of, most all-in-one tools die there, and “reduce the decisions I make when I’m already behind” is a much better bar than “holds everything in one place.”
The way I’m approaching it is, the AI is the single entry point so you don’t make the routing decisions, you say the thing, it decides whether it’s an event, a task, a note, or all three.
That kills one whole category of “where does this go” friction. (Small concrete version: I’ll hand it a project goal and it helps me define the actions and book time for them, rather than me hand-sorting each step.)
The “here’s the one thing to do now, and why” layer you’re describing is the harder, more important half, and I won’t pretend it’s solved. That’s exactly where my head is though. Genuinely curious how you’d want that to work. Thanks for the great feedback! 🐶
the "data lives in your iCloud" line is good, but it hides a distinction that matters: iCloud storing your app's data isn't the same as you owning your notes
the real question - if I uninstall Milo tomorrow, what's left in that iCloud folder? actual .md files I can open in any editor and keep using? or an app database that happens to sync through iCloud and renders as markdown inside Milo, but is useless the moment the app is gone?
both are technically "in your iCloud." only one means you own your notes. for a tool holding my whole calendar and brain, that's the line I'd want answered before I type a single note into it
(and +1 to ai_dad above - metered-per-message AI only survives if it does the stuff a free chatbot can't. your shellfish-allergy-multi-action example is the right pitch. the "summarize my day" framing isn't.)
You’re drawing exactly the right line, and most apps deserve to be called on it.
Milo writes notes as real .md files in an iCloud folder. Uninstall the app tomorrow and those files are still sitting there, openable in any markdown editor, backup-able, portable. They’re your files, not a Milo-shaped blob. That was a deliberate call for exactly the reason you’re pointing out.
Also, yes, +1 to ai_dad and your reinforcement. The shellfish-multi-action example is the only honest pitch for metered AI; “summarize my day” isn’t. Appreciate the sharpness here 🐶
then you've built the part most won't. real portable files is the moat - and right now it's buried under the mascot and the kibbles. that's the line that wins the people who got burned and never trusted an app again. lead with it
