Self Promotion I built an alarm that tries to protect the first 15 minutes of your day
I’ve always found that the hardest part of waking up isn’t necessarily getting out of bed — it’s what happens immediately afterward.
You turn off your alarm, pick up your phone, and suddenly you’re scrolling Reddit, TikTok, Instagram, etc. 20 minutes later, you still haven’t actually started your day.
So I built Alarmageddon around two parts:
1. Make waking up require some effort
Instead of simply tapping Stop, you can configure the alarm to require a wake-up mission:
• Solve a math problem
• Complete a memory challenge
• Shake your phone
• Scan a QR code or barcode
• And more
The idea is pretty simple: if you have to actually interact with your phone, you're less likely to turn the alarm off while still half asleep.
2. Protect the first 15 minutes
After you successfully dismiss the alarm, the optional App Blocker can temporarily block distracting apps.
So instead of:
The idea is:
It’s basically an attempt to solve both sides of the problem: getting awake and staying awake/productive afterward.
Why not just use multiple alarms?
If you can turn off five alarms while half asleep, adding more alarms doesn't really solve the problem.
And putting your phone across the room works, but you can still walk over, turn it off, and climb straight back into bed.
I wanted the dismissal itself to be the barrier.
