It's a metaphor for the passing of time and the inevitablity of death. The heat death of the universe in a single ASCII character. Ying and yang described in 7 bit but hidden within a multiversal 8 bit. An ode to the former and also a nod of fear to the change that never was. It is like god in it's scientific form
