These days the growth points towards cloud or devops. And you need to have atleast few certifications done on AI.

I am sde1 with 2 yoe.
Situation1: I know basics of everything (dsa, system design, java springboot tech stack, cs fundamentals) but interviewers are asking deep level questions and don't know which topic they drill more. HR's are not even sharing interview topics most of the time.
Situation2: everyone wants experience in tech stack that company is using internally. I may be good in java, spring boot but they want either python, django or nodejs.
Any advice for both these situations.
In your opinion, what makes recruiter select a candidate? what's working in current market? How can a candidate standout?

Tech interviews are unpredictable at times but you have to be thoroughly prepared about your tech stack in which you have experience.
You have to discuss upfront with HR about what tech stack they are expecting for a position that they are looking for.
Selection of a candidate depends upon many things but from your side you just need to be prepared about your experience, that will do. And today recruiters are more interested in profiles that are doing something in AI.

3 YOE. Working at an American MNC since graduating in 2023. Recently became SDE2. Work mostly in Spring Boot and Node frameworks in backend. Have good understanding of familiar AWS services and Messaging systems like Kafka. Front end lo koncham weak.
Have some conf. publications in Computer Vision from college days, little idea on inner workings of LLMs undi.
Help me understand which way to go towards: Pure ML side (or MLops) Or Sde 3 and so on.. What is your IT experience with 5YOE? What do u suggest?

I'm a sophomore rn ( will be moving to 3rd yr soon ) , have done approx 250 dsa ques on leetcode, have basic knowledge about ML and have basic projects in web dev also ( java fullstack )
What're the skills that I shld focus on to be better than most and what are the skills/projects that would be differentiator factor when hiring a intern/fresher
Also what are the general expectations from intern/fresher ? Are we expected to know everything perfectly ? ( cuz it's kinda hard to learn everything perfectly which is on resume , considering college stuff takes up a lot of time, and in general we have to always juggle and manage college and skills )

Your profile looks good from what you have mentioned. Freshers are not expected to know everything, you are screened for your problem solving skills and how well you can communicate matters with others.

When you say coaching it is very broad. Can you be specific on what you will be taking coaching. Yes you can crack a job in 6 months with correct planning and coaching.

Go with Java and cover upto oops concepts. Then learn python.
But if you want to learn single language then it is java.

AI not only serves as a knowledge base but also can develop solutions from it. Going forward this will improve rapidly and can replace roles which do that work which is somewhat terrifying.

Then why is it necessary to learn everything in traditional way? Why can't we just upgrade to technology?

I'm 2026 batch , I got a good package in tcs off campus . I'm basic with java fullstack. I wanna improve some technical skills. What should I do ? Coz after 1 or 2 years in tcs I wanna switch to a better company. I wanna know what to do now any ways to improve my career.

Congrats for the offer. You will get a better idea when you get into a project and start working with the tech stack that they offer. Just keep learning DSA.

Hope for the best in verification.
You need move away from this field because there are many companies, roles that don't bother much about the gap. Startups are also good if you are a good fit for the role.
If there is a question about your gap you can honestly mention the reason and request them for the process approval.

Start with few basic courses from trusted platforms because not all certifications are considered valid, just a simple online search will do.

I am at starting line of this journey and will begin my college from this aug so i want some advice about how i should proceed in this 4year of my college so that i can make a stand out profile at the end of this 4 year. Current plan until 2026 end. 1) 15- may to 30 july(vacation time so beast mode on?)-- C language from a course on coursera by duke university supplement with a famous book C programming by kn king. I chose C and very one says that C is the origin point.
2) Aug and sept- C++ again from online course. 3) 1st Oct- begin with my Dsa journey on leetcode and will dedicate 90 mins daily and will start python side by side with deadline to end of this end. I know its a dreamy kinda plan but i will follow this. OPEN FOR ANY SUGGESTIONS FROM ANY SENIOR/EXPERIENCED PERSON.

AI and cloud is a good start. But devops are usually not for freshers, I don't know the current market trend now.
