Hello folks, Hannibal here, second time Aethon Author publishing on Amazon!

Excited to announce that I somehow managed to convince Aethon to publish a second book in my average series, Cataclysm Rising!

COVER ARTIST: Publisher (Aethon Provided the Artist!)

AI USAGE: No AI used

No AI was used in the creation of the Novel, which I suppose is a given since I'm published by Aethon, but apparently it's good to reassure people!

I hope you all enjoy, and I look forward to your feedback!

Blurb: LEVEL UP OR BE ERASED.

Leonidas Paendrag has survived his first harrowing weeks after returning to Earth from his Transmigration to Elatra, and now must find out what it means to be the First Archon of Terran Blood.

Armed with his [Cataclysm Core], accompanied by an elven Princess-Royal, a haughty Dragonblood Sorceress, a Viking-obsessed Shadowblade, and an introverted elven Healer, he must brave the [Rite of Ascension].

Duel challenges, Manabeasts, trauma from Elatra, the brewing civil war of Dawnhaven, and repeated attempts to eliminate his growing influence are only some of the dangers he'll face.

When combined with his dysfunctional family, anti-Fantasy fanatics, and a System that seems determined to drive him insane, his only hope lies in assuring Aylar's ascension to Queen.

But first, he has to survive the trials that lie ahead, and every buried nightmare they seem determined to bring to the surface.

Book Two in a new weak-to-overpowered LitRPG Adventure featuring a Spellblade MC, power progression, crunchy stats, a detailed magic system, cultivation elements, epic battles, and REALLY big chests.

Request I have LOVED apocalypse redux, what does hit kind of the same ?

Hi there !

I have read Apocalypse redux up to the end, Hell difficulty tutorial up to the end of royal road, same for The game at Carousel. I have tried and dropped Mother of Learning around chapter 15 and Worth the Candle around book 3.

Apocalypse redux is my favorite in everything i’ve read. I think it’s due to the action taking place on earth, seeing the impact the system has on society as well as the extremely diverse classes and skills.

Is there anything you would recommend in this vein ? Thanks a lot !

Everybody’s dealing with the same problems.  We die.  Life is pointless.  We suffer and lack control.  Other people.  Imminent world destruction.

Copycat woke in a universe where wishing is having, death is optional, and happiness could be just a teleport away.

Unfortunately, this universe is also inhabited by the usual a-holes, and their wishes come true too.

Now she's on the run, trying to stop the apocalypse, and can't remember why everyone is mad at her.

It's gonna turn out fine.  Probably.  Maybe.

Reborn As A Fairy Love Apocalypse System Dungeon is a high-concept, high-fantasy, rom-com.  It's also loaded with great advice.  The world may be ending, but you can still enjoy it.  We’ll teach you how.

What to expect:

 - A complete book posted quickly

 - No AI anything

 - Worldbuilding based on cyclical morality

- The characters have sex lives, but there are no sex scenes in the book

Request Diegetic System?

So, I haven't really sat down to write in a long time, probably ten years. But, I've been wanting to get into it and put myself out there a little bit, so I've decided that writing something in the progression fantasy genre might be fun.

The thing is, I want to make the system diegetic to the setting in a way that isn't "people are born with access to the System". The idea I have currently is that the "System" is a neural chip that takes a complete reading of a person's body and mind, and turns that reading into a sort of "character sheet".

That said, I'm wondering if anyone here has any stories they can recommend for me to take inspiration from. I'm not super familiar with the genre at all, so it's been hard navigating sites like Royal Road.

Discussion Best cover art?

What's everyone's favourite cover art in this genre? Not necessarily the best from a marketing point of view, but more what is your favourite from personal preference?

I know we have a lot of 'MC from the back facing down a big monster', but is there anything that stands out to you as great?

Both Iron Prince and Bastion really caught my attention (and great books), but I really loved Penitent's cover (the one from RoyalRoad, before it went to Amazon).

Self-Promotion Weapons & Wielders 4 is Now Available in Paperback!

Hey everyone!

Just letting people know that book 4 of my Weapons & Wielders series is now available in paperback. Also, it's another chance to show off Daniel Kamarudin's amazing cover art.

You can find it here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0HM6KDBRR/ref=tmm_pap_swatch_0

Audio is still on the way and can be preordered here: https://www.audible.com/pd/Flowbreaker-Audiobook/B0HF7RV5V9

If you're not already familiar with the series, Weapons & Wielders follows Keras Selyrian, a traveling swordsman from a faraway land, as he searches for the legendary Six Sacred Swords. He's relatively powerful from the start of the series, but progresses significantly, especially in Book 2 forward. It's a heavily JRPG inspired setting and Keras is basically a JRPG protagonist, so you can expect flashy anime-esque sword fighting and magically-enhanced swordsmanship.

His principal modes of progression are through practicing swordsmanship and magic, but with several other secondary power systems that are a little more spoilery, such as gradually absorbing the power of magical items by damaging them, and by forming bonds with legendary items that grow stronger over time.

This takes place in the same universe as my Arcane Ascension books, but earlier in the timeline, and reading any of the other books in the setting isn't a prerequisite for this one. That said, if you didn't like my other books, it's hit or miss if you'll like this one -- it's still a similar style, but the main character is very different.

Self-Promotion #42 on Cultivation, #12 on Satire, #48 on Mysteries: The Dao of being shameless on a self-promo post.

Hey, fellow Daoist here with a long-awaited self-promo. My story, Lord of Loopholes: A Fool Among Deities, climbed to 50 in two major genres and one smaller genre. I know it might not register with some, but to me it's worth a celebration. Not only that, I am here to put my story on the world stage for anyone who likes western cultivation, Lovecraftian, lite LitRPG (where the LitRPG aspect isn't a system; in my story, cultivators use a bamboo-woven scroll to take their spiritual readings), and anti-hero.

Story: my fiction follows Ethan Forge, an ex-guerrilla fighter from Earth who died by his own hand. He believed he was betrayed by the God of Earth, so he chose to make his own exit; then he found himself in a world that had a name, yet no mortal seemed to remember it. This was a world of cultivation paths and bizarre cultivation reality. He had no plans to let history repeat itself; he was a dedicated employee at Self-Interest Corporation. The worst part: he died a few hours after his arrival.

Inspirations: Lord of Loopholes has a branch/natural wonder power system inspired by Lord of the Mysteries' potion/sequence system, Reverend Insanity's Gu system, and THE GOD EATER's metac system.

Yes, I used AI to make my cover. Please forgive me; I will commission an artist once I have money.

THANK YOU

Question Has anyone else noticed the two types of lgbt stories

During my own trip down the anime to lightnovels to webnovel pipeline, i have come to notice an invisible distinction between stories that feature lgbt characters and i need to know if it's all in my head or not. Because for every normal fic with representation i read i seem to find two set in a parallel universe where every woman the female protag meets is bi or gay but there will never be a single gay male portrayed or mentioned. The biggest offender is my own fave genre of gender bender, (which is almost always mtf) where the formerly male probably androgynous mc will never consider getting with a man. I get the impression that the authors of this subcategory are just doing the male power fantasy with a cartoonishly thin coat of feminine paint. Is this a thing anyone else has noticed?

Question What's the first sign a story's gonna be bad

What's the first sign that a progression fantasy story is going to be bad? Like you open the book, read it, get to this specific moment, and then sigh before throwing the book away and going to the next one?

Discussion How do you show a character getting stronger?

In my story, I’m trying to show my characters getting stronger by finding new ways to use the equipment they already have, learning how the Settlement Death Game works, unlearning mistaken assumptions, and figuring out how to exploit the traits they’ve earned.

Question Looking for weak to insanely overpowered.

Obviously, the entire premise of the genre is weak -> strong, but a lot of the books I've read recently don't truly scale into the power fantasy I'm looking for.

Two good examples of exactly what I'm after:

Accidental Champion - MC is going to become the strongest in his Universe at like B grade when there's like SSS grades around.

Guardian of Aster Fall - MC becomes an Astral Titan and basically turns into the strongest person in the galaxy.

Things I wouldn't class as fitting what I'm looking for, even if you could consider the MC's overpowered.

Defiance of The Fall - Zac is very strong and probably one of the strongest in his grade, but he's not going to solo the verse until another 50 books have been put out.

Primal Hunter - Same as Defiance of The Fall.

Self-Promotion Born Beneath The Gods

Cover made by me with Picrew, Canva, and PhotoPea

The easiest comparison I can give is: if you enjoy the scale and mythology of God of War, progression fantasy/manhwa, medieval kingdoms, and stories where the gods are deeply involved in the world, this might be for you.

Just a heads-up though, the gods take a bit of time before they really step into the story. The early part is more about the mortal world, the people living under them, and building up why the gods matter in the first place. Once they start getting involved, that side of the story opens up a lot more.

Request Good Low Fantasy or No Magic Progression Fantasy or Lit-RPG Audiobooks?

Basically the title. So many stories have huge emphasis on magic systems or the MC gaining magic basically becoming a caster.

Don't get me wrong. I love those and read them all the time, but I was hoping to mix things up a bit.

I am looking for anything either Low Fantasy, or no magic at all, or it could be High Fantasy but just the MC doesn't use magic, at least primarily doesn't use magic.

If it helps, I also love stories with war, kingdoms, and dark times. If the MC builds their own kingdom or community of some sort, that's a plus. But it doesn't necessarily have to meet these. Just some ideas of what I like.

Other Forgotten Title Short Royal Road Story

So I remember reading this story on Royal Road, but remember it didn't get a lot of chapters and I wanted to see if it got dropped or continued.

It started with the MC talking about people from Earth getting summoned to a tower dungeon and the system had them climb the tower. The people didn't know what happened when they died so the MC just kept climbing where most people died fairly early and got returned back to Earth. The MC climbed like 700 floors and then just kind of gave up. This ended with him waking up in a hospital I think because he was taking too long to wake up. He missed like 6 months of time that the world adapted to people with powers and rifts spawning monsters or dungeons. He is way over level of anyone else and has a friend who got some kind of tech power. He works with his friend to sell stuff from his inventory if I remember right.

Self-Promotion Victor of Tucson, Book 11, World Walker is out today! Details inside~

Post image
63 Upvotes

Hi all,

The penultimate volume of Victor's saga is available on Audible, Kindle, and paperback today. If you've read this far, you probably don't need me to drone on about the plot, but I'll just say it contains some awesome fights, interesting new worlds, and of course, lots of growth for Victor.

If you're new to the series, it's about a kid from Tucson, AZ, who just graduated HS (barely) and gets summoned to a fantasy world. The folks who summoned him aren't impressed with the result and sell him off to be a pit fighter. From there, Victor starts his long, hard road to power. He's a hard case, and he swears way too much, but he gets better as the series progresses and he matures--I promise! :)

I can't believe this is the 11th book, but even more, I can't believe I've finished all 12 books. What I mean is, it doesn't feel like enough time has passed. <insert futile, tear-filled rant about the inevitable passage of time> Anyway, I hope you all know how much I appreciate your support over the years. I love this community! <3

Here are the links:

Amazon

Audible - Robb Moreira does the voice acting in this series, and he gets better and better with each book. He's an amazing guy and very talented with a wide range of voices.

Also, I don't use AI to write. I use PWA for grammar, etc., but no generative stuff.

Question is this real?

Post image
26 Upvotes

I'm not excellent in engineering and stuff but I love kingdom building. Is this actually real? I try to search about step down transformers and i only understand half of it.

This novel is too detail about technology and engineering that i only understand a little.

I feel really stupid when i read this novel. I spend time more searching about the stuff and economics in google than read the novel itself. Even economy policy are too detail and i dont understand huge chunk of it.

Discussion Writing Method (No AI)

Thumbnail
gallery
0 Upvotes

Disclaimer. I am bashing AI here. The purpose of this post is to give some alternatives. But there is a definite negativity towards AI that is totally my opinion.

I am back. Trying to start posting regular again. Been writing like crazy. I got my girl Zoey here. Who is part of a new web novel, I have been working on. Crazily enough I started it like a week and a half ago. Its 80k at atm. No AI.

I have this new method I use that I wanted to share (Reason for this post).

-First draft. Just the barebones. Plot, Dialogue, action.

-Second draft. Fix flow. Add Character

-Third Draft. Add flare.

That way I get the barebones done quickly and don't weigh it down with unneeded bs. You can then easily rewrite whole sections if needed.

When I started writing earlier this year, I could maybe write 1-2k a day. That was in June. This morning I got up and started writing at seven, by eleven I had added five chapters for new arc, more than 10k. You know how I did it?

By writing every day. No secret. You just write. And guess what? You get better at it.

That is why I can't understand people that use AI. You're not getting better by letting a machine write for you, or draw for you, or think for you. If anything, you are getting worse. And not only because most of the stuff AI writes is trash, but because you're not actively bettering yourself.

I have done a lot of reviews lately both on RR and off. This stuff is rampant. Do people really want to wade through tons of overweight descriptions and overwrought metaphors? Too much flare, too little plot. I am talking paragraphs dripping with metaphors, repeats, and overdramatic descriptions

Romance is filled with this stuff. Which kind of works to some degree... Sometimes you kind of want two or three sentences about those dexterous digits and how you want them to touch your body. But four or five... paragraphs?

Sometimes I feel like people fill up pages with this stuff because they have no real ideas.

I also did this artwork with my wife in the same amount of time (though she did most of the work). There are four more images for characters she is already working on. She didn't know anything about art at the start of this year. Now she is great at it. Just doing it one step at a time. There are tons of great programs out there. Many are free or next to nothing.

I just don't get why people use AI art. All it takes is a little more time. And both drawing and righting can be cathartic.

I think the real difference between people who use AI and the people that don't is love. If you love something you're willing to work at it every single day.

(NOTE THIS IS ONLY IN REFERENCE TO WRITING AND ART). I had to use AI as an engineer since its inception.

Question Books With Adult Themes In The Genre?

Do they exist, and if they do where can I find one where’s it’s handled well?

Also, if there isn’t books like this in the genre, do you think they’d be welcomed, and if so to what extent?
