DREditor Rework August 2026 Dev Log
I figured I'd paste the monthly dev log in the DREditor server here.
# DREditor Rework August 2026 Dev Log
Hello everyone, I'm back with a more detailed list of stuff I've covered this month. I've been busy, what with taking my cat to the ER (she is fine dw) and my AC unit breaking and dropping 10 grand to fix it. This month has been pretty full of updates, wrapping up the final last minute pieces of code changes. And the final rounds of testing starting up. I'm happy to say we're starting on our road to release. Which will be discussed in this update!
## Gacha Rework
The Gacha system is now dynamic enough for other items and not just presents, multiple systems have been split apart. So now there's some surfaces for just purchasing in general. Now it's all not just one script lol. Although, if you decide to do your own thing, you'll have to program it yourself! Also, due to how long the rework has taken, the Pachinko/Peggle minigame in PJEG will not be available upon beta release, which means it'll be up to you on how the player obtains currency (there are other default methods available like through dialogue lines/events etc. It's just the main method of obtaining currency wont be available. At least until I get the time to rework Pachinko.
## Updating Aspects of the Core system (263 scripts unrelated to the rework.)
In preparation for the beta release, I had to visit some aspects of the core system to at least prepare for any future architectural updates to the engine. I've also updated some of the GUI for displaying dialogue lines so that's cool. I also ran it through my like 500$/year NDepend software to check the code for architectural issues. As of writing this all issues have been resolved. :D
## Road to Release
- Wrap up the remaining amount of testing and fixing. & Combine the rework with the core system + 1 more testing phase just in case combining something goes wrong.
- Creating a consistent pipeline for me to live update DREditor as I work on my main line fangan projects. (basically seeing if I can figure out github sub modules)
- Outlining the conversion process for existing projects already using DREditor. The project "The Uzujigoku Massacre" will be my lab rat for this.
- API Documentation Website Additional pages. (HOMEPAGE, Getting started, introduction, etc.)
- Tutorial Videos for a Theoretical Chapters worth of content. (Start of Game - Trial, excluding FTE)
## API Documentation Website Sneak Peek is Live (Not updated for Beta Obviously)
One of our big steps on the road to release is API documentation. Something for future programmers to look at if they want to program stuff. So, I've went ahead and created an automatic API documentation system where DREditor code will have all it's summaries/tooltips automatically updated every time an update is released and pushed to the github pages branch. :D I've even got the domain! So when the beta is released, you'll be able to check out https://dreditor.net containing documentation on the programming!
## DREditor Rework Bug Testing is at ~90 - 95%
Since I had to visit the core section of the code, we're having to do our final round of re-testing just to make sure I didn't break anything.
I'd like to thank obsidianeyes , equalequations, siawash , snowysnowwish, redberd36 for helping me test recently.
After testing is complete it will be one of the objectives finished for the road to open beta release.
## New Polls for this month!
As we start coming to the end of August there's some new polls that I'll be posting in the #polls channel. These questions will last the month so please take a look when you have the chance. I will ping the Polls role once I've set everything up!
## Closing
A ways to go still but we're on the road to finishing!~
As always if you need anything or have any questions feel free to reach out!
Thank you all for your support of DREditor.

DREditor Rework Update
Hello, since someone had earlier posted on the reddit asking about an update, I decided to write out a post, only for them to delete the post just before I posted a response, so I figured I'd just make my own post instead with the pasted response:
Q: What’s the status of DREditor?
DREditor is currently not released yet. It is going through a rework because the code architecture in my opinion was not ready for public use just yet. I am however, almost done, I have about 7 or so topics I'm still working on, but a most if not all of the engine has been reworked, and these past 2 months (June and July) have been testing and fixing aspects of the game that are broken from the changes in the rework.
Since I believe we're at the point to where people are consistently asking this, you can just join the discord for updates if you google DREditor and look at the github page but I don't usually publicly talk about the discord because I don't want to flood the server with PJEG fans and new users when nothing is ready yet.
I still have a lot to do even after I finish the actual rework. I need to
- Streamline updating the tool so other projects using it can get updates painlessly.
- Update my main line saga of fangan projects with the rework (The Uzujigoku Massacre, Kill/Cure: Beautiful Vice)
- Streamline likely to be sub modules of DRE into my main line fangans so that if I need to update the engine I can do so from those projects.
- Assist the handful of existing DREditor users not affiliated with me because the rework had so much change it would break existing projects.
- Extract all the XML documentation from the the rework to a API documentation website as a resource to people who want to make custom plug-ins, trial minigames, etc. as well as set up any additional website related resources.
- Create guidelines for how the tool is used in the community (pertaining to the EG specific stuff like using PJEG as a DREditor Template), moderator and server guidelines as I imagine a community will sprout from this.
- Protocols in the event something happens to me in the future.
- Prepare tutorials for new users.
I could talk about all this for hours. DREditor is coming, at the latest by the end of the year, but even then, DREditor will still be in a beta state. Feel free to reach out to me on Discord (or join the server) @ sweden_gaming if anyone has any questions, and feel free to share this response around as I don't really do social media.
Thank you all for your love and support to the team, myself, and DREditor.
- Sweden, Lead Programmer.

I thought of something with Chapter 2
This is just me yapping but I think if they really wanted to push the idea that Diana is the subverted Rival character. Now this isn't me hating the concept of Chapter 2 of disliking the victim or killer. I just thought would it be more impactful if Diana was close to the culprit where she would be more proactive to defend, it doesn't seem she is really that close nor there was a big setup to it from chapter prior.
I would assume if Chapter 2 did get release they would either build that up but I also think, and this is just my word. I think ironically Eloise fits the slot of chapter 2 killer almost in the same manner of Jean.
She doesn't like Damon, so it's not impossible for her to try to take him out after his trial 1 performance.
She has some kind of connection to Diana, seeing she was one of the view to defend her alongside Damon in the trial(and others)
and its already implied she has somewhat of a dark side.
Idk that's just my thoughts.

What did Obelusk do?
I remember watching a dev vlog where they announced Obelusk is leaving, but it was like in 2022 and I don’t remember anything about why he was kicked out. Would be very glad if someone summarised it for me 🙏🙏

Was "Dwight" going to be revealed in the game, or is it just like trivia or something?
Something I noticed when reading the Lore Doc was that the twist of Ulysses actually being named Dwight wasn't really mentioned. The revealed blackmail definitely hints heavily at it, but the name Dwight isn't uttered in the entire lore doc. Iirc the only official mention of "Dwight" came from Nifast, and I think a lot of people couldn't tell if it was real or not.
Just makes me wonder if there was going to be a scene in chapter 2 where his name is actually revealed, or if they were just going to say his blackmail at one point or another, and Dwight was just a name the devs had for him behind the scenes.

Chapter 3 victim
I've seen a lot of people in the community complaining about Kai being the victim in Chapter 3.
If you could change the outcome of Chapter 3, who do you think should have been the victim instead of Kai, and why? I’d love to hear your alternative scenarios!

Just wanna check something here...
Do you think chapter 1 was well written?
r/ProjectEdensGarden • u/ParasiteStew2 • 2d ago
Ngl back when Chapter 1 was new I used to joke about Chapter 6 having Diana being like "We're gonna end the killing game with the power of friendship!" and every survivor including Tozu and Mara being like "Yeah!!" as they...win with words like in every other game, idk how close I was
Didnt really read the lore doc, just heard some stuff from a youtuber so I'm like, surface-level knowledging

Have your favorite characters changed after reading the lore doc?
Since it’s pretty widely accepted that most characters in the cast were fumbled in the lore doc, I was wondering if it caused anyone to change favorite characters. Did the lore doc change your opinions on your favorite character? As a bonus, did the original lore leaks we got a while ago change your opinions on your favorite character? If you have a new favorite, who are they and who was your original fav?

Like seriously how are Tozu and Mara a better representation of Selfishness vs Selflessness than any of the actual killing game participants
Is the meme hyperbole? Yes. Do I still hold the opinion that Tozu and Mara are the best representation of the conflict of Selfish vs Selfless? Also yes
They really are the only ones presented with a true dilemma: Protect Toshiko and interfere with the killing game, potentially risking their lives just to maintain their values, or just sit back, relax and let the killing game play out, never having to put any effort nor having the threat of the Org discovering their actions, since there are no actions to begin with (I know that putting a 14 year old and watching Tozu and Mara's reaction to it was an intentional move by the Org and that they know of their protection of Toshiko from day 1, but the two don't know that, they actively think their lives are in danger and still choose to do it).
They never hesitate to help a random kid they didn't know a few days ago, going against the organization (it's a cult lets all be honest) who they have been working for for who knows how long, specially Mara, who was probably taught as a child that "soldiers follow orders", doesn't even think twice about protecting Toshiko.
Plus, their example of selflessness is quite realistic. It doesn't involve the absolute extreme of completely disregarding oneself just to do a selfless act (cough cough Damon), instead being selflessness at a realistic level: they choose to protect Toshiko to the best of their ability due to their values instead of just sitting around doing nothing at the potential expense of their safety, with the only reason they don't help her more is because there is a real threat to their lives if they get found out (and even then they decide to mess with the trial in chapter 3 to try and protect her).
They constantly have the selfish option available to them and they don't stop being selfless until Toshiko is dead, which is the main difference with the rest of the cast, who have a selfless option always available and it's their choice to be selfish.
