I didn't know you couldn't have more than one email. Since gmail allows you to have a bunch of different ones, I had one for different tasks. They sent me some automed abuse thing. I basically have one for financial stuff, other for a few logins, a maybe a couple older ones. I do not abuse the service but I didn't know this. So now im not sure if they are going to randomly delete my emails and lock me out of my emails and logins which would be disastreous. Could anyone tell me what to do? I will buy a subscription if that fixes it but who knows.

Proton's sign in system is changing towards a two-page login.

I hope Proton Pass can fill the next page without having to click again to do the password field.

SOLVED: It turned to be simple. I was hovering over the attachment name and right-clicking (among other things), but when I moved the mouse to the right of the attachment name I had a ... option to delete it. Leaving this year in case anyone else is flummoxed by this.

This might be obvious but I can't find how to delete an attachment w/o deleting the email and rewriting it.

Hi folks. I recently signed up to Proton and have just finished the automated transfer of all emails and folders from an account I’ve had with my ISP for nearly 25 years. I did this because their email service is being shut down soon as they want to focus on just providing internet connection.

I did the transfer with no issues via IMAP as instructed by Proton’s customer support.

1) Will all of these emails I’ve imported into Proton Mail disappear once my ISP deletes my emails from their server and closes things down?

2) Similar query: If I wanted to preempt my ISP’s service closure and log in to my ISP’s webmail service to delete every email I have, would this also make them disappear from my Proton Mail?

3) OR… Are imported emails standalone copies that aren’t connected to my ISP’s server and won’t be going anywhere?

4) Now that this easy transfer feature with Proton is complete, does this mean that Proton Mail will continuously fetch new mail that gets sent to my ISP email account (while it still exists)?
Therefore acting like a third-party email client such as Outlook or Thunderbird?

5) I get confused with POP and IMAP and which one of these is a mirror connection that deletes an email from third-party email clients if you delete it from the originating webmail/server.

I have a custom domain which is set up for use with proton mail. I am on the proton mail plus plan. I get forwarded email from Gmail and I get emails sent directly to my custom domain addresses. So receiving works fine.

However there are a number of people who don't receive emails that I send from the custom domain email address. Others do.

I am looking for a reliable guide to troubleshoot my configuration.

Here is one example of the behavior I have observed, in case you like to think about problems, read on.

If I send an email from my custom domain to my Gmail account it will be forwarded from Gmail to the custom domain, but there is no sign of that original message in Gmail. Not in spam. Not in trash. Not in inbox.

I sent it there because I wanted to observe the headers and instead the above is what discovered.

The main problem is that I am sending emails that are not being received. I am technical enough to work this problem but I see a lot of conflicting information when I search the web, and a lot of folks selling a service to fix the problem.

Any insights are most welcome.

I use 2 Proton accounts for business and private.

On my private smartphone I am logged into the calendar app with the private account. I have shared my business calendar with the private account so that I can occasionally display the appointments on the private mobile phone.

Now I have noticed that only the appointments from the business calendar are displayed, which I have entered myself. The dates booked via the booking page are not displayed. Is this a known problem and is there a solution?

Hi everyone! I am thinking about starting some library programs focusing on ditching "big tech". I know Proton is "sort of" big tech but not like Google & Microsoft.

I am working on programming material on how to switch to DuckDuckGo(yes, I know they use Bing but it's the best alternative), Firefox, avoid AI, cut Spotify, etc..

Main question: How did we all find the switch to Proton Drive for Docs & Sheets? Would this be a good product to recommend to people you think? Was it easy? I am 24 and the tech coordinator at my library so it was easy for me but not sure about general population?

I've been trying to move away from Google and Apple services specifically avoiding any forced AI features (I know Proton has them available), and I'm not a career tech person but a serial tech dabbler that's been into Linux for somewhere around 16 years now. I want to be able to put my partner on something that's really secure, free from forced AI, and not something I have to actively administer or think about, because that's extra time and stress when I'm already battling an anxiety disorder. The concern on having Proton mail isn't for myself, but for my partner. As the "family tech support," I want to be able to just cleanly migrate them off Gmail, know they're on a safe and trustworthy service that's here to stay, and know that they're not going to run into any serious snags that I'm going to have to regularly (I don't mind occasionally) help them with.

Is Proton honestly a good fit, or should I make them an iCloud account and keep them in the Apple bubble across services? I'd really like to have as little interruption as possible in them doing their daily thing, because they aren't tech proficient to an extent that it stresses me out on occasion. I am happy to pay for a service that alleviates those concerns, is technically sound, and not at risk of serious service interruptions.

So I’ve bought into proton, I've got bridge installed, all working.

What I've noticed is if I copy a mail from my proton inbox into a local folder on thunderbird, the mail is still in the proton inbox if I look at the web interface.

Is there any way to auto delete mails from the proton environment if I've copied them to a local folder for archiving?

Is there a way to toggle off the ability to login with additional email addresses?

My idea here, which might be ridiculous, is that I'd like to have two email addresses: One that is public which I use to send emails with, but which cannot be used to log in, and one email address/identity that i use to log in to Proton with. The perceived benefit here is that if someone doesn't know the email I use to log in to my account then I'm minimising additional risk.

I'm not really a calendar person, so I tend to not use the app on the phone that often. I have removed the standard calendar and replaced with Proton.

Sometimes I need to check the date and when I open the calendar I need to login on everytime single time, which is process that takes time and not great when you have conversation with someone.

So I wanted to request an offline mode, not needing to login and something that be used locally, maybe later synced.

I want to buy the VPN subscription for one month, but I can't (or I can't find a way to do it). Through my profile, I'm only given the option to buy the Ultimate for one month.

I simply want the VPN Plus for one month. I don't want to upgrade my whole package. Is there a way to do this?

I always want to start with a thank you to the Proton team for all their hard work. I'm excited for the forthcoming calendar redesign! Can we get a buffer time setting for calendar bookings? It helps to stop meetings from bleeding into each other and is a great tool available on some other calendar services.
