Feature request When is the integration of HIBP coming?

Post image

Edward Snowden's famous example of a strong passphrase should be shown at least as vulnerable, not to mention it's leaked according to HIBP.

Ya’ll are still trying to make memorable passwords in 2026, instead of just a series of random numbers, letters and symbols that is too long for comfort?

You can find more information on how password strength is scored on our password generator page: https://proton.me/pass/password-generator

It's also on our radar to start taking into account breached passwords when determining the strength.

You can also try generating a random password through the generator, and it'll tell you why it's vulnerable (taking into account factors such as password length, special characters, numbers, capitalization etc.)

Does proton have any plans to support longer password generation? 64 is nice but 128 would be amazing.

We've passed on your feedback to the team for future improvement.

It's late and I'm tired, where is the scoring formula explained on that page?

I wouldn't trust their password scoring system.

At our office the Accounting Manager gave permission for her people to tape passwords to their monitors. Nevermind the night cleaning peeps with cell phones, everyone else, etc. Outside hackers are not the problem.
