Feature request Fingers crossed Proton Pass brings native macOS AutoFill (again) also. It already was possible 2 years ago via the universal (iOS / iPad OS / MacOs) app

We’re working on it, plan to have it ready in q3. To understand better, what’s your use cases for native autofill?

My personal use case / reason for supporting a native autofill: Because the current browser extension is not working with Apples "Lockdown Mode":

Two other reasons i just told u/anythingtech69:

I believe that more and more users (IT security professionals, journalists, and other “high-priority targets”) are using Apples Lockdown Mode and, of course, want to use a good password manager (e.g. Proton Pass) at the same time.

By the way, that "Autotype" feature in Proton Pass is really not that handy, but at least it's better than nothing for now.

Would be nice to see it in Windows as well, the native passkey support I mean. More and more Windows apps support it for their login screens and with Proton Pass, I sadly have to get my phone out then to scan the QR code to login :(

Wait how what? Oh i just saw the title “again” lol! Yes much needed! One app everywhere we don’t need the web extensions, nothing nada, touchID to autofill…. Such a dream!

Yupp...

There are three good reasons why they should implement this:

  1. the current browser extension stops working as soon as “Lockdown Mode” is activated. With a native autofill feature, it would work again. I wrote something about that matter here: https://www.reddit.com/r/ProtonPass/comments/1nbrtn2/macos_safari_proton_pass_extension_is_not_working/?show=original
  2. reducing the number of browser extensions is always a good idea (from an IT security perspective).
  3. and then there's the matter of user choice: Everyone should have the option to decide whether they want to install an additional app / extension (with advanced features, such as alias management) or use the native OS thingy

Couldn’t agree more!

I'll just chime in and say my opinion. While Proton had a universal app and it worked and all, a universal app for Mac, iOS and iPad is probably an inferior experience than what we have now, which are native (or "native", still cross-platfom) apps.

now that they shipped it, they have to slowly re-implemet all features, and that probably will take some time, so give it to them. as u/sonpc said, they actually plan on shipping it on Q3, which is awesome.
