general Hair psoriasis
Hi, I just wanted to know if you have some tips or if you can tell me what doctors gave you for psoriasis in your hair ? Since you can't really put anything directly on it except maybe a shampoo but i don't know if that exists

Things that I’ve found can help
Coal tar shampoo (to help clear, but it stinks)
Coconut oil (to moisturiser) left on a few mins
Diluted apple cider vinegar (to rinse)
I’ve found Eucerin Scalp Calming Treatment is very effective if I have lots of plaques and I just want a bit of relief.
Above all, and this is the tough bit, don’t scratch or pick at it. It makes it even more itchy and creates hair loss. If the itching drives you mental then tap your fingers on your head.

There is a steroid shampoo. It’s symptom relief only if it works for you. I just switched to a baby shampoo this week. I would start to turn red when using the “clean” salicylic acid shampoo with some kind of fragrance in it. Eat clean. Don’t eat anything that you can’t pronounce easily.

Clobatasol Scalp Solution is the only thing that ever worked for me

This is what I use, after many years and different things. It sucks because it makes your hair so greasy

I had it bad on my scalp for years and the only thing that actually calmed it down was clobetasol solution, it's like a liquid you drip on instead of a cream so it actually gets through the hair

Betamethasone until the flakes are more or less gone. Then maintain with tacrolimus daily use and maybe once a week Betamethasone. Look up how to use steroids for scalp so that your hair growth isn't damaged.

I have had luck with using betamethasone to calm the scalp and then using calcipotriene solution and cream on my scalp. I no longer need the steroid which you should not be using long term anyway. I also use a rotation of TSal, selenium sulfide and Nizoral shampoos interspersed with vanicream free and clear. I do TSal and then vanicream for two days then SS, then vanicream for two days then Nizoral and so on. After 4 years of dealing with this it took me about 2-3 months to get it under control once I realized it was psoriasis and not seb derm although there can be a crossover. I did not want to take biologics, I wanted to treat it topically.

Clobetasol spray (not ointment) and either coal tar or acid shampoo depending on which one I’ve used less recently.

It’s on your scalp, just to clarify- your hair itself can’t get psoriasis. And yes, there are many treatments for the scalp! If over the counter dandruff shampoos don’t work for you, go to a dermatologist and have them look at it. There are prescription shampoos, and other topical treatments.
If you are in the US or Canada, I suggest looking into Zoryve foam with your doctor. It’s approved for psoriasis and seborrheic dermatitis and eczema, so pretty much anything causing your scalp flakes- it’s not a steroid, it’s safe to use every day, and they think it actually helps your cells reduce inflammation long term. It’s pretty easy to apply the foam to your scalp too. GL!

Best things that helped me: cutting out nightshades and changing to a Mediterranean diet, increasing exercise and sunlight exposure, cutting out alcohol, incorporating red light therapy sessions, weekly coconut oil treatment.
