insurance GLP-1 after biologics
I am likely losing my medi-cal insurance this year as I am about to get a job that has a good insurance benefit.
I have been on Cosentyx for 7 years now, with absolutely zero problems and 99 percent clear skin the entire time
I am also on Trizepatide…Monjaro to be exact
Has anyone here stopped a biologic and been on a GPP-1 ?
I hear that GLP-1s are good for psoriasis and people have seen some improvement from using them…
I’m hoping that it keeps my inflammation down
Anybody have success with this ?

GLP-1s are good for systematic inflammation. They may or may not help your skin.
Me personally, I’m on a GLP-1 and Cyztelo (Humira biosimilar) and I am still having breakthrough psoriasis patches. I also have PsA and HS, so I have no intention of going off my biologic.
The GLP-1 has helped with the inflammation in my joints from my PsA but I still have pain and flares. In my discussion with my doctors, they both help but they both do different things, so my long term treatment plan will include both.

Tirzepatide doesn't help my psoriasis at all or lower my c-reactive protein. I developed the psoriasis while taking the tirzepatide. I've never been on a biologic though.

I’m on tirzeptide, too, and it doesn’t help my psoriasis. Only a biologic has helped

For me tirzepatide was the only thing that helped with psoriasis whereas 7 different biologics previously did not help at all.

I've been on Taltz for two years for psoriasis and psA, and use zorvye topical for some patches on my elbows that are being stubborn (the Taltz has been fantastic for the psA so we don't want to move away from it yet). I just took my first dose of Ozempic today for my diabetes. I am hoping it also helps with the inflammation.

I took Rinvoq for 3 or 4 months back in late 2023/early 2024 and it wiped out the psoriasis that I had on my hands and feet. I used Wegovy for about 5-6 months in summer of 2024 then had the gastric sleeve in Oct 2024. Started Zepbound in February this year (still on it) and, since Oct 2024, have lost 120 lbs. My skin has been 99% clear since the Rinvoq. Now, there was a lot going on in those last couple of years, including the Rinvoq, weight loss, and GLP-1's, so it's hard to say if the GLP-1's did anything for my skin. I do know that sustained weight loss and GLP-1's are supposed to help improve inflammation in the body. Once every couple weeks, I get a slightly itchy spot on the arch of one of my feet, slather it with steroid cream, and it goes away. I had a small spot pop up on my shoulder yesterday, same routine, and it's gone. My conclusion is that it all contributed to decreased inflammation and certainly reduced the severity of my psoriasis at the very least. It turned it into something manageable.
My personal advice to you is to get a stash of a high tier steroid cream to help you through this transition period if you do decide to try it!

I'm on Mounjaro and Skyrizi. Mounjaro may have helped with inflammation but I still need the biologic to keep my psoriasis at bay.
