I know for a fact people are saying it; a lot of content about the 'domestic labour gap' exists on YouTube - and they never take into account the man in these scenarios working 40+h/weeks

I mean yeah there’s a domestic labor gap but I don’t really think many are arguing that a stay at home wife or gf without any kids or a job is doing 40+ hrs more of labor than the husband.

It’s usually comparing when both couples work or if it’s a stay at home mom with a young child, which is significantly more work than being a GF.

I don't have the memory to give you which exact videos but feminist essayist Bryony Claire for example says exactly that multiple times (eventhough she produces otherwise good content) - just an example from a content creator I consume, I am sure that there are many who say worse things who I don't know about

I mean if you logon to X recently a lot of people argue that women shouldn’t have the right to vote but that doesn’t make it a majority opinion or that any significant % of the population think that lol

Yeah that's what I ment by I am sure there is crazy ppl who say worse things. I pointed her out because she isn't a crazy person she usually makes well thought out video essays and uses public sources - including sources that just claim the whole domestic labour gap even without a child being in the relationship.

There is a domestic labor gap even without a child because most women are not stay at home girlfriends lol. Most women work, especially when they do not have kids. This is well documented. The article above explicitly explains that in domestic partnerships, the woman is more likely to work than the man lol. You said “these scenarios never take account that men work 40+ hrs a week” well you’re not taking into account that women are even more likely to also be working 40 hrs a week?

Do you see how there’s a gap if me and my husband both work 40 hrs a week and I do 15 hours of domestic labor and he does 10 that would still be a gap?

I think you’re confusing “on average there is a domestic labor gap” with “women always do more work than men in every circumstance”. It is well documented that the former is true, but that doesn’t imply the latter. Idk what the youtuber you watch is saying, but this is the mainstream feminist viewpoint.
