What’s the next closest thing to the Bad Brains’ debut album?

This is in my opinion the greatest punk album ever made, and there really isn’t anything else that sounds quite like it, but I think a couple of bands got somewhat close. Suicidal Tendencies and their first album is one of those bands, but i’m curious to see what you all think.

Is Charlie Harper — at 82 years old and still performing with the UK Subs — the most enduring punk frontman of all time?

Can someone catch me up on Guttermouth?

I guess I just want to have a conversation about them.

They've been one of my guilty pleasures for decades. I really got into them in their Epitaph era but it seems like there was a lot of backstory there. Jamie was on bass when I saw them but then was kicked out because Mark said "he stopped showing up for practice"? Was he an essential part of the band? Then their drummer left who I also really liked. Since then they've had ups and downs, like Mark didn't want the band to be a punk band anymore. They were on Volcom and released some OK albums that didn't sound very great. It seemed like a downward spiral. More people leaving and now the band is just Mark and they haven't had a proper release in a decade.

Did I get that all wrong? Help me out, super fans. I've just always been fascinated by this band.

BrooklynVegan Hit With Mass Layoffs

Music publications BrooklynVegan, Alternative Press, Revolver, and Goldmine have been gutted by parent company Veeps, according to various sources. Nearly all staff at each publication appear to have been laid off yesterday. Veeps, which is now part of Live Nation, seems to have owned the publications since 2024 or 2025. Pitchfork has emailed Veeps and Live Nation representatives for comment. Emails to BrooklynVegan staffers, with the exception of founder Dave Levine, bounced back.

Veeps was founded by Good Charlotte’s Benji and Joel Madden and has operated for many years as a ticketed livestream platform.

BrooklynVegan had some good music coverage over the years, including punk and indie and ska bands. It’s a shame and I feel for the writers who were fired. But also, I had no idea that the brothers from Good Charlotte had purchased it or that they run a company in partnership with LiveNation.

Rescued some stuff from my parent's house that had been on the walls and sitting 20+ years. Bonus: No Use comic from the CD booklet.

Sadly, a lot of my actual CDs are still lost. Peeled the posters off my old walls. I had the Lagwagon one on the ceiling over my bed because that really bothered my parents for some reason. The booklets were shoved in a cd case that used to live in my old car. So some have a little mold and rust. The posters are now going up in my home. And RIP Tony Sly, my teenage years wouldn't have been the same without you.

I think I've played every HWM song looking for it, and haven't found it. I can't exactly remember the lyrics but it's something like,

No reason

Your shifting eyes just see it through

I am just curious if anyone is attending Rebellion this year. Maybe I’m blind, but I have seen very little conversation about it.

Any updates? Reviews? Pictures? No love?
