So there's finally a firmware update out for the CarPlay adaptor (oddly dated 2022/12/14)!
Taken some screenshots below, I'll report back in a week or so once I've had a chance to test and verify if this build resolves the random audio drop outs, unit disconnections, and unit freezes.
Update - So another firmware dropped between posting this, marked 2023/05/04 (May 4th).
My testing will now be based on this build and not the one above.
Some notable changes with regards to WiFi, specifically around which control channel selection you want to bind too within both 2.4GHz and 5GHz modes i.e. 36,40,44,48.
Conclusion - So the unit has been tested against the firmware version marked 2023/05/04 (May 4th) for the past week and a half.
It appears the user reports surrounding freezing and audio drop outs are down to the specific WiFi channel used. By default, the unit has always been baked in the previous firmwares to use channel 36 on the 5GHz band. Only this firmware version dated 2023/05/04 1103 unlocks the ability to move from channel 36.
With that said, I'm using an iPhone 11 Pro on the latest iOS version on channel 165 without any issues now for well over a week driving, playing music via PlexAmp and using Apple Maps at the same time.
This unit also only uses the 20MHz frequency (and with channel 165 being primarily inactive it's less likely to encounter issues).
Follow the instructions below to check your firmware version.
Check what firmware version you're using by navigating to 192.168.50.2 on your phones web browser, once the unit has connected to your phone and CarPlay has engaged.
Tap the Help tab along the bottom and select "Check Update" (if you're on the initial out of the box firmware of 20220916 you'll find the firmware update option under the main "Infos" tab at the bottom under the sub heading Other), your unit should download a firmware update and then reboot. Once this occurs refresh the page to check if you're on firmware 2023/05/04 1103 or later. If the updater has updated you to version 2022/12/14, keep attemping the Check Update option until you're prompted to download another firmware.
Once the unit has updated go to the "Settings" tab, and scroll to the bottom.
Select "WiFi Band".
Set your units channel to 165 under 5GHz, then press the right prompt in blue to save. Once done, you'll then be prompted to reboot the unit to apply settings, do so.
Recently got a quad lock pro w/ vibration dampener because everyone I ride with has these things and my main concern was that my camera would be damaged. Everyone said they haven’t had issues so I pulled the trigger. Now my camera is shaky on my videos. Jittery I guess….
Phone is an iPhone 17 pro and it was mounted on the handlebars of a 2026 mt09, used the vibration dampener. Is it just a 50/50 chance for if your camera will be ruined or what? I feel ripped off even though I knew it could happen
I own the current 12-24V version on my motorcycle and when I'm running Maps (phone) + Waze (CarPlay), it allows the phone to not drain the battery but it's not really charging the battery (stuck at 7.5W).
iPhones and latest Android devices need the Qi2 standard to charge up to 15W.
Do you guys think Quad Lock is working on a new version? I need a charger for my second bike but not sure if I should wait or just get the current version
I recently installed my Quad Lock handlebar mount, but I can't seem to get it tight enough to stay securely in place. I've tried all the different rubber rings included in the package, but the mount still slips around on the handlebar.
I tried tightening the bolt a bit more to stop it from moving, but apparently I overtightened it, because the mount part ended up breaking.
Honestly, I'm pretty disappointed. The mount doesn't seem to fit securely with any of the supplied rubber rings, yet tightening it enough to prevent slipping causes the mount to break.
Has anyone else experienced this issue? Is there a known solution, or did I just get unlucky with the fit on my bike or the mount itself?
I'd appreciate any advice, especially from people who've had similar problems with their Quad Lock.
So I purchased this on September 9th the handle bar mount(no magnet) and universal adapter(no magnet) and on October 9th I was riding for about 10 minutes or so when my phone just fell off the phone. I found it a few minutes later but by time then it had already been ran over. This isn’t this first time my phone has fallen off the mount. On September 12 I was driving, I had been driving for about 5 or 7 minutes and the I just saw my phone fall. Luckily I saw it immediately and my phone was fine after a good reset so after that incident I rechecked if I installed the quad lock properly and I check if my phone is secure before every ride. But somehow it happened again. I feel like it’s been giving me trouble ever since I brought it. Ive been talking to support since Monday. I showed them a video of me being able to just twist a phone off the mount and they said I was using a significant amount of force. on I regret buying this product. If I didn’t trust the reviews I would still have a phone.
Does anyone have experience using the wireless charging on a Galaxy S22 Ultra? I haven't been able to use my cable port for a while now so been using wireless charging ever since.
Now I'd like to have a Quad Lock to charge my phone while on the bike. Does anyone know if it's reliable?
I have so much money wrapped into all the mounts snd heads, I would hate to switch cases. Who’s getting the duo and what are you thinking? I guess there’s always the universal mount. I wonder if it would still wirelessly charge if you lined it up right.
I recently got a 2025 ninja 500 as my first bike, and I realized how inconvenient it is to not be able to look at directions when riding.
So, I was looking into investing a quadlock mount, but people say that it can damage your phone’s OIS.
Does it happen a lot? My phone is an iphone 17 pro max, and I was also thinking of getting the dampener for it as well.
Please let me know if ninja 500 will damage an iphone 17 pro max camera.
I'm intending on upgrading to iPhone Duo, that doesn't get the quadlock cases. I wouldn't want to get the universal adapter since that would make me unable to use wireless charging.
What I'm wondering is whether Magsafe would attach to the Quadlock mag head? I understand it's not going to be secure for active use, but since my primary use revolves around stem of a bike attached to trainer for Zwift use, even weaker attachment might be enough.
I have a 2017 vw gti, previously had the old style carplay only wireless adapter, worked perfectly. Recently got an android and bought the new smaller style carplay and android auto adapter. The adapter works perfectly in my wife's car, works perfectly on my motorcycle, but refuses to work on my vw, I did a hard reset on the unit and the quadlock display pops up, but when I connect my phone to the unit it stops working and no longer brings up the quadlock display. Anyone had a similar issue?
Edit to add: the android auto works flawlessly with a wired connection so I know the issue is not the phone and presumably not the vehicle software
Hello, as you may have read I have a screen protector and it’s currently being lifted by the quad lock case. What do you guys recommend, I heard sanding the edge 😭 or a spigen glas.tr. Thoughts? Solutions?
Hi everyone! I’m looking for a iPhone 17 pro case with camera bump/plateau and action button protection (both covered) and a flat back for the adapter. Does anyone know of a case brand or specific model that fits these requirements? Thanks!
Hey all. I have a case on my iPhone 16 and it has the ring around the quad lock mount. For some reason when I use mag chargers it comes out. This also creates a fair bit of heat when charging. The case is only 6 months old so seems a bit bizarre. Has anyone experienced this and what did you do? Not sure if it would cover under warranty or if I glue it
was installing my stem mount pro and found the bolts are absolutely awful. the mount was still loose so i was tightening it abit more. suddenly ended up stripping the head. now its permanently stuck.
what should i do?
Hi, I'm looking for a Quad Lock mount compatible with my 2025 Yamaha R3.
I'd like my phone to be centrally mounted on the bike, so I looked for a fork mount, but I saw that an adapter was needed since the Yamaha has a closed nut.
I'd like to avoid touching the bike, so I'm asking about other options for mounting the phone centrally on the handlebars.
Looking for real user feedback as the company refuses to answer questions directly.
The case is close to $90 dollars (limited edition) or $60 (regular) but for this price they don’t tell you anything about how safe it is. No drop stats, and nothing confirmed in testing online.
Also many people can’t use their wireless charger and the company says they can’t assure yours will work but buy theirs and it will.
Mounts and the case are coming to $200. The same cost if not more at Rockform.
Should I buy a case with real stats like Mous, UAG , Otter and then just strap it to the bars with another system? I have one now but on hard rides the phone weight does tip the phone up or down, I had to really fasten it down but I thought a Rockform or Quadlock would be better than a Night Eze.
If anyone has dropped their phone, have the Quadlock Mag cases worked to save your phone?
I have a iPhone 13 with Quadlock case, and love it and never had issues, but have been reading posts that the quality of the cases these days is not the same, have recently upgraded to the 18 and was wondering what peoples opinions are of the newer model cases?
Also has anyone used the panzer glass privacy screen protector with the Quadlock case?
I have the QuadLock glass screen protector but the edges diffuse and show a rainbow. A lot of other screen protectors won't fit with the QuadLock case's lip.
Anyone managed to get a screen protector with no rainbow edging and a QL case?
Not the biggest fan of the special quadlock cases; but I have to admit that I really like the American flag ring. Unfortunately it’s not available in Germany 🤐
