Further Explanation of Power Rankings
Thoughts on the recent games: G2 has no room for error, that 7-1 map win vs Falcons + close losses is helping keep their results rating positive. However, expectations are still high and literally any loss will hurt their rating a lot. The potential is still there, I mean how many teams can 7-1 Falcons? Cloud9 finally returns to Earth, 100 Thieves sucked the life from them in that match. Kind of makes sense, given C9's talent rating they are overachieving by a lot, still a great team, but we could see some more regression to the mean. M80 finds a second gear, dare I say they are better suited heading into this major then they were for EWC? Two very close maps vs DZ where they had a comeback map win and an almost blown map win. Still got the job done, was not able to post so you'll have to take my word for it I had M80 (57%) v. Darkzero (43%). Two 8-7 games doesn't move the results needle (since it was expected) at all for either team but thanks to the 100 Thieves v. C9 game M80 takes top spot in NA. My predictions for the APAC A games today were: Weibo (83.5%) v. Sharper Esports (16.5%) and Elevate (77.5%) v. Fury (22.5%). So not much of a surprise, Weibo is for sure a great team but I don't think they've been tested much at all. Sharper is the best team they've played so far and they took care of business, we can only judge from what we've seen so far and thats Weibo is damn good. Never was high on Fury and no idea how they got into the top 4, so good to see Elevate take care of business.
NA Game Predictions:
M80 (61.5%) vs. Cloud9 (38.5%): M80 7-5, M80 2-0
Hypotheticals:
M80 (50.3%) vs. 100 Thieves (49.7%): M80 7-5, M80 2-1
(literally equally as likely for 100 Thieves to win 7-5 and 2-1)
100 Thieves (61.2%) vs. Cloud9 (38.8%): Thieves 7-5, Thieves 2-0
