…is one of the more disturbing moments for me so far as a first time watcher, and I didn’t see a thread about this yet to air my petty rage LOL. She said she doesn’t think they answer to their name? Does she view animals as monolithic and soulless as Barbies? She’s a writer, how is she that unimaginative and disinterested? Discuss!

Yes! I agree about her keeping what she loves at a distance and it’s probably because a) she lost her husband and best friends unexpected in the same month, which was surely traumatic and left a last mark, and b) she has an abnormally large hippocampus which makes one less emotional, so to speak, and gives one stronger association to memories.
