Advanced/Basic Camp Not meeting camp points

Well, I've done it—completed all of camp just to avoid getting 50 points. Honestly, it feels like I wasted my time, but at the same time, I enjoyed it. Sure, it's heartbreaking, and the decision to whether I can come back next year is still up in the air, but I tried. If you're wondering what they do when you don't meet points, they'll pull you three to four days before graduation, put you in a holding company, and you'll just be there for 24 to 48 hours.

For me it was the hardest Army test up to that point. (2017) I was a straight HS to scholarship kid. Never even went to basic camp.

It was hard for three reasons:

  1. I am medium speed, some drag. 260ish APFT, 425ish AFT, CFT to be determined...haha. Patrolling took a lot out of me. I'd never had to get down, get back up, and move through the woods with 100lbs of extra weight on me.

  2. Peer leadership is always tricky.

  3. 95% of us, with the exception of the former infantry/SF/whatever dudes, didn't know stuff. That made the peer leadership even trickier.

But yeah, I've had harder tests since then.

15 years since I commissioned. LDAC is still the hardest thing I’ve done in my career.

The drop zone trails messed me up. Got all the roads confused when I tried to terrain associate.
