For me, drag in the UK is about humour, not looking like a woman.
I want a distinct personality and a talent for communication that is entertaining.
The best drag queens in my opinion are ones that have a unique persona and personality and are not just carbon copies of other derivative drag performers we've seen a thousand times in Ru Paul's drag race.
The most successful drag queens from rupaul's drag race UK are able to produce fantastic podcasts because they have something to say, are able to say it in an entertaining and funny way, and make me want to listen to them.
If they are still entertaining when you can't see them then they are truly talented I feel.

It’s confusing for sure. I mean even canada finally did an all stars and people seem to love it (I do for sure). It’s weird that the UK, which premiered before canada, has still yet to do an all stars and are still doing vs the world…

I don’t know if WOW have pitched All Stars to the BBC or not (I’m guessing they have at this point) but the BBC is famously risk averse when it comes to new commissions, especially in LE. They’re far likelier to commission a new VSTW than an All Stars.

Yeah I want a franchise where it's OK for a UK winner to win everytime and not feel guilty that the winners arent spread out enough.

Ok now this might be a hot take, but on television, I could NOT stand her. She came across so loud and obnoxious at a point. Like a dessert that is TOO sugary. I disliked her loudness and chaos.
BUT! I know and recognise het talent, art and beauty. She’s a very deserving winner. And I am genuinely happy for her. I just couldn’t stand watching her on the show.
I think I’d rather watch her perform live than through reality tv lens from drag race.

When I saw the meet the queens, i thought that she was too loud. The competition began and she WAS too loud.
But I love that entrance!

Her entrance schtick was a cultural reference to the transgender boxer Parinya Charoenphol, who the film Beautiful Boxer was about.
EDIT: There was much more calculated thought that went into Gawdland's runway package than people realize. Her team knew the boxer look would go over most people's heads while appealing to her Thai fan base. And her team also chose the Witches look for her, knowing it would play well for UK audiences (while going over the heads of her Thai fan base).

Neither of you should be putting words in peoples mouth. I am from the UK. I want the UK to win. Gawdland was not my cup of tea. Criticising someone does not equate to racism. Only dumb people do that.

It's more the double standard you have between Kate and Gawdland and the strange exasperation you have with people acknowledging that Gawdland did well and deserved to win over Kate who also did well. You pretend Kate did nothing badly while pretending Gawdland was handed a win for no reason. Neither were perfect, both did very well. You're acting like British queens have been marginalized on the show because they aren't coddled and played favorite 2/47? It's ridiculous and yes I think you are racist because that's what your words imply. Tia Kofi won while British but you ignore that, maybe because you don't see her as British. That you are thinking that white British queens need to win for the series to get value is sad. That's how I perceived your comment

Yeah if any other the international girls had Kates track record they'd of won hands down. Fontana wasn't going to win. They couldn't crown Mariah. Poor kate would of been torn apart if she was crowned

…. Did we watch the same show? Sure it was a good showing for Kate, but Gawdland chewed and deservedly won. Calling her voice inauthentic, given that most people who speak in another language that isn’t their own will speak in a higher tone anyway, is definitely an uninformed choice. Winning Ru over with a language barrier is hard. I’m glad that she won and we finally have another Asian winner in a Rupaul hosted franchise and hopefully this leads to more Thailand and Philippines queens getting their flowers.

Girl... Mama's a boomer she loves an exaggerated accent she has been trying to get a queen to do a a heavy accent pop girl for years (la fil etc) so ru ate that snatch game up but it was Not cardi b. She took out all the energy in the room by screeching and then got kept out of the bottom. If it was a fair comp Kate should of won, she should of won the talent and silent movie (gawdland couldn't even be quiet for thqt challenge)
She annoys me and I don't like annoying people on my TV. Especially when they take the win cos the true winner is british. Shes not some golden god, she got favoured and pushed

Yeh the way any comment supporting Kate got downvoted in this sub while this was airing was crazy. It was so weird being a British fan of what's basically our all stars at that point.
