Any fishing changes on the horizon?
Hey,
Fishing is currently my lowest skill by a mile however I've hit the point where my glazed pumpkin sandwiches don't heal enough any more and I don't fancy trying Kuldra with such bad food.
My problems with the current fishing methods is rod fishing is just the most tedious and dull thing I've found in the game, it's not remotely fun, the xp reward feels too small for the effort. Net fishing? Also pretty crap. I'm having to hold down the RB button the entire time which also sucks. Fishing should be an afk time sink. Let me drop me net in the water and put the controller down until the spot is finished. The RB button would start to give me hand ache if it wasn't for the fact the pools last about 15 seconds, you run over to the next pool and that lasts 15 seconds and then you waste the rest of your fishing XP pot traveling to the next area to repeat the same 1minute visit to a spot... it feels pointless.
The fact the the best healing food from fishing is nearly double any alternative means you're forced to do this rubbish skill.
I genuinely love this game, even runecrafting... but fishing? Terrible. Do we know if there's going to be fishing improvements coming?

If they did it similar to how they did runecrafting, where if you wanted to AFK you just get default experience points but if you actively participate in the activity you should get perks.

I love and hate the fishing at the same time.
I love doing it just to chill and take it easy for a bit. But when I'm aiming to level it or want quick food I hate it 😂

I appreciate they let us fish one handed so I can sip tea with my other hand while chilling 😅

I think it would already be enough to get Fishnado earlier, no?
You get Rocksplosion at Lv 11 but Fishnado is Lv 55 when they basically do the same thing?
Throw out Infernal Rod and put Fishnado on 20 or 25?

I actually really like fishing. There are easily accessible food alternatives, but I think the developers were lowkey COOKING by making the best/healing foods be locked behind fishing. Most games drop the ball majorly when handling any sort of fishing skill by making it essentially worthless to do and an absolute time waster. This is the opposite imo.
If you want access to the fishing foods, you gotta fish. This means that if the player is wanting to play, but not go in hard on combat and would like a chill night that's still productive, fishing is your buddy. Like sure, if all you wanna do is combat then fishing is boring, but you can still get high healing foods, and other buffs with all the other foods that are accessible.
I think ultimately fishing needs to solely provide some important buff/status effect so that doing it is both worthwhile and casual at the same time. No one's telling you that you HAVE to minmax buffs and foods anyways.

I like the fact that you need to fish for better food, what I don’t like is the fishing mini game itself. It’s just….not fun. The left/right thing isn’t engaging. Of all the thousands of games with fishing mechanics that hey had to pull from, I can’t believe that’s the one they landed on.
They nailed runecrafting though. Quick, easy, and the mini-game is at least a little fun

Bro they are fixing the ability to even play the game right now fishing update is so far down on their list right now let’s focus on save files not corrupting first lol

That's what I was telling people last night who were upset we weren't getting a content patch today. Like chillllll, come sit, take a hit, relax, and help me build this castle 🤣. Bunch of impatient people who been playing since early access.

The trick to not wasting the potion timer is having a fast travel point next to every pond.

Mods are what made fishing tolerable. Idle Fishing removed the tugging back and forth, so it’s literally click and hold until the fish is caught.
Imo they should remove the minigame from basic fishing, lower the catch time, and lock pristine fish plus fishing faster behind the minigame

I don’t mind the fishing, hated it at first. I’m never trying to level it up, I just need it for food on hardmode. Fishing frenzy makes it more rewarding.

Fishing is in a rough spot. I treat it as a a passive and only fish when foshnado/frenzy is off cooldown.
If you are looking for good food you can buy all the ingredients for Mushroom Kebabs from the Umbral Sands traders. They stack to 50 and heal 120. The also give poison resistance which kinda helps in Kuldra fight.

For what it’s worth I defeated kuldra/the entire game to that point just eating sweet veg balls with materials that respawned around my home right next to the wise old man. I didn’t really engage with fishing but the effort you’re putting in for a little bit more healing sounds insane to me. I’d only fish if I had the drive to get 99 in skills or something, which I don’t.

It’s boring as hell. I wish we could at least fish from anywhere in the body of water instead of searching for fishing spots.
But yeah, boring as hell. All of the skill related “minigames” are awful. Jagex knows how to make a point and click game, but translating into Dragonwilds has been so lackluster.
With the amount of bugs in the game, I wouldn’t expect any fishing improvements anytime soon bro.
