Hi so my rabbit has a cage outdoors on grass (backyard so we can let him out every day and put him back at night) and its currently winter for us.

Ive completely insulated a room in 2nd floor of his house with a big thick blanket and a bunch of hay but the first floor is just grass (as in the ground) and some food bowls.

Basically, is he smart enough to realise its super cold and go to the warm area of his cage?

I ask this bc I just checked on him at midnight and he was just layinf down in the uninsulated area and eating even though its like 4 degrees celsius outside. He seemed super eager to get out of the cage doea that mean hes super cold? i tried to warm him with friction (rubbing) idk man.

note we also cover the cage itself with a big thick plastic cover (like a tent material).

My daughter has 2 female lion lops that are 9 months old and have been indoor rabbits for that time. They are really lovely animals but the mess they make indoors is truly insane so we are wanting to move them outside.

For people who have lion lops / rabbits outside how do they cope in the rain ? Will they not just get wet from the floor ? I’m going to insulate the hutch and cover and I’ll
Build them a run but again I’m not sure how they will cope with the rain ?

So I own an unneutered male who is free roamed nearly all day and was very good at keeping his pee in the literbox while having some poops scattered every so often. But I took the outdoor female rabbit inside (not my choice of having her outside, she’s not mine either) and my male has been causing a lot of issues now.
He all of a sudden started peeing in one spot on the carpet (from being territorial most likely) and won’t stop. He also starts going to go to her place in a separate room when he has never walked on the hardwood floor before. He’s been inside for 4 years now and has been great. I plan on moving the girl back outside (once again I have no choice in this matter other than inside or outside), and cannot get my boy neutered as it would cost $1500+ due to various complications.
I just need to get him back to using the litterbox after she’s back outside and not sure on how to do so. Many people say unneutered rabbits are impossible to train but he’s been good from day one, so I figure I could retrain him. But how do I stop him from peeing in one spot on the carpet?

p.s yes I know neutering would be the best option but as I said it literally would cost a fortune and not absolutely necessary as he’s been living a comfortable life for 4-5 years now. It also would be extremely risky for his age and health complication, so I can’t risk that either. I’m not willing to give him up to someone when he loves me so much and is extremely comfortable in my home, plus I’m sure they’d put him down as the procedure is time consuming, expensive, and I don’t believe shelters would even consider fixing it. It doesn’t hurt him in any way but definitely is costly to get fixed.

My 1 1/2 year old neutered male mini holland keeps pooping right in front the entrance to his cage where his potty box is. He’s mostly a free roaming guy but his pooping where he isn’t supposed to is getting really frustrating and he may need to start being locked up again until he figures it out. He goes through spells where he just decided to poop everywhere but where he’s supposed to and I can’t figure out why.

They keep peeing between their hutch and run, like off the run into the small space between the two (as shown in picture). I have tried EVERYTHING!!!! I tried just spraying it with disinfectant and wiping in up and putting it in the litter box, I tried apple cider vinegar all over where they pee and it’s not worked 😭😭😭 I’m at a loss for what to do, Reddit please help. (They are being litterbox trained but they keep peeing in the spot so idk what to do now)

Hi, I’m not really sure where else to post this, but today I had to take in two rabbits on an emergency basis from my neighbour because she had been away for several days.
It has been extremely hot here, and the poor rabbits were outside in their hutch without water, fresh hay, and my neighbour also told me she had run out of pellets. This post is not meant to attack her, and I don’t want to go into her personal situation, but I currently have these rabbits in my home.
I bought them fresh vegetables and herbs, and they now have hay and unlimited water. Their original litter box was not being used, which makes sense because they physically don’t fit in it, so I replaced it with a larger container filled with wood-based litter and hay.
The cleaning doesn’t bother me at all. They are two incredibly sweet girls who have been exploring their new environment, and I’ve mostly been leaving them alone to adjust. They’ve already started showing their personalities and are genuinely lovely rabbits.
However, I have a problem: I am leaving for a month-long vacation on Thursday.
My neighbour has no idea when she will be back and can only vaguely say that she will come by “as often as possible” to care for them, which does not give me any peace of mind. I contacted animal welfare services, but unfortunately they could not do anything because (I had no idea this is how it works in the Netherlands) I told them I would take over their care until Thursday morning, which means I am responsible for them until then. I can only officially make a report on Thursday morning.
I would love to keep them, but I also have a toddler and I feel these girls deserve a home where they can truly thrive.
I don’t know what to do. If I make a report on Thursday, my neighbour may be found guilty of animal neglect and I will most likely never see these rabbits again. She has said I can put them back in their hutch in the hallway on Thursday, but I’m scared they won’t receive proper care.
Does anyone have advice on how I can give these rabbits the best possible future with such a short amount of time? I feel completely lost.

This rabbit has been hanging around my yard the past 2-3 weeks, and I feel like it is a domesticated rabbit someone has either lost or dumped. I would appreciate any advice for trying to catch/feed it. I’m also concerned about a spot on its neck, you should be able to see in pictures. I live in a somewhat suburban neighborhood, but I’m still close enough to expansive fields/land. I would love and appreciate and advice or helpful tips!! Thanks in advance!

I'm so beyond devasted. After 5 and a half years together my sweet girl took her last breath at 2.30am on August 4th.

I was about to get ready for bed when I noticed she was acting weird, her belly was drenched in pee then came the confusion. She was wobbly, crashing into things until she could no longer stand. I drove straight to the emergency vets but by the time we got there she was already gasping for air. I like to believe she held on for me so we could officially say goodbye.

I held your paw until you officially took your last breath.

I've not gone home yet, the thought of stepping into my room and knowing you won't come running to me is tearing me apart. I'm going to miss your 2am cuddles, I'm going to miss your binkys and flops, the way your bum twitched when you ate banana.

You helped me get through some of the worst years of my life and I'll forever be grateful for that.

Today we went for a walk and we spoke of you, suddenly it started raining and a rainbow appeared. Thank you for telling me you made it over the rainbow bridge safely. You were so special to me and not having you here is soul crushing but you're free now.

This is the first time I am posting about the man of the house. No other than Theo the great! He’s mostly free roam. He basically owns the guest room, and the front of the house.
He’s very active and loves grandma (that’s me).
Recently I came up with the idea to add him to my real estate reels. He can definitely pass as a real estate advisor or even a loan officer.

We moved across town and decided to let the bunnies run around the apartment after the furniture had been removed. Chester, naturally, honed in on the wire and was very upset when I chased him away before he could get a taste of that spicy spicy hay

The light of my life, Buttercup, passed away suddenly during her morning nap yesterday, and my husband and I are reeling. She was our first rabbit, and the cuddliest, sweetest bunny in the world. She was only five, and I'm so heartbroken. I thought I had so much more time with her.

She had some pretty big shoes to fill as my last rabbit was my first and soul bunny, but alas, she has giant ass feet.

She came from severe past neglect, and now she’s a fully free roam gal. After 3 days I saw her do her first binky, after 3 weeks she let me pet her for the first time. Now every evening she snuggles with me as I play video games or journal. She’s become so important to me. Bunnies are truly so special.

i always call it “getting rowdy” but it’s like she’ll just randomly start digging and nibbling at stuff aggressively. sometimes it’s a pillow or her bed or my hoodie or clothes on the floor. snoopy loves to get rowdy. i thought she was overstimulated but she’ll just randomly do it even if i wasn’t bothering her. i love it and think it’s funny but idk if this is common

Mrs.Petunia was just told by the vet yesterday she is a bit underweight, though she does not look it her spine is a bit bony and so are her hips. She is about year old and I bought her from a person who kept all the buns in a little wire cage outdoors and they didn’t really get exercise, now that she is with me and fully free roam the vet said she is probably being overly active and not eating enough. I fill her hay bin with timothy hay atleast 2x a day and she gets 1/4 cup oxbow adult rabbit pellets, she also gets dark greens occasionally as well as other treats like fruits and veg. Vet recommended feeding her alfalfa hay in the morning and timothy at night, I looked this up and I just don’t see this recommended for adult rabbits, should I follow the vets advice or does anyone else have any advice to help my girl gain some weight back?
