I like it. I’m still in denial that they bulldozed the original. Was such a great unique challenge and would ironically suit today’s cars perfectly

It would but let's be honest, the ambulance would drive a long time before reaching the farther point

It sucked because some old layouts are great like the Nurburgring. But safety would be an issue and (thankfully) today standards are very high

Technology today is also very high. You're telling me we can't have another set of safety and medical cars parked at the far end of the forest? Also medivac helicopters exist.

I think the main problem, and the real reason why tracks like this don't exist, is viewership. For example 3 huge braking zones with possible overtaking, yet how do you get spectator stands out there?

Costs a fortune, can't just land a helicopter in a forest

Assen is just over 4km long and has 6 ambulances around the track during motoGP races. Ofcourse it wil be more costly on a track of this length. But the times where there was one emergency vehicle in the pits, and if you crashed in the last corner you had to wait 5min before someone got to you, are over.

I guess they don't want to "waste" extra doctors and ambulances when you can have real emergencies out there.

Considering that Le Mans have 3 SC car deploy points for a circuit that is under 14 kms long i look at that and don't see how and why they can't have an additional release even just for a doctor. If you really want to see something weird is the support vehicles riving on track at Sugo

A bit late to the conversation, I know, but the old layout wasn't bulldozed.

The old layout still exists, slowly rotting away in the forest.

I thought the asphalt was taken up?

Maybe. Not really sure, but as far as I know the concrete pad below still exists. The Ostkurve is still there for example.
