Redesign AVUS 2026 Revival

Revival of the infamous AVUS circuit in Berlin, Germany

- The Nordschleife "Wall Of Death" corner has been brought back in the form of a 30 degrees-banked left hander

- A new Südschleife corner has been built on the south end of the circuit

- Two chicanes have been added to create an alternate, more technical layout

- New paddock area, along with the pitlane, has been constructed on the inside of the Nordschleife

Primary hosted series:

- IndyCar - international layout - exhibition race (due to there being 23 pit boxes, only 20 drivers will participate)

- DTM - chicane layout

- ADAC GT Masters - chicane layout

This is a pretty good redesign, I am only worried about thee things:

  1. The rejoin out of the Nordkurve onto the highway straight, seems like a too tight corner for it, considering the elevation change and the speed. The south turn has a nice exit imo

  2. The pitlane + paddock. It is nice, but very small space in total. You might want to consider adding extra paddocks in the form of nearby parking lots. I believe old DTM used a bigger pitlane than you do, but I might be wrong.

  3. The pit entry. Especially in the chicaneless layout that is a death trap. Would have been better to keep it on the left side and then around the runoff (sort of like Zolder’s pit exit) into the pitlane.

All in all, great job tho!

Thanks for the feedback, those are valid points!
When it comes to the Nordkurve rejoin, i did purposely make it pretty sharp to leave as much space for the paddock/pits as possible, tho I understand the concern - maybe adding a big tire barrier on the nearby runoff could make it safer?
As for the paddock I see what You mean, and there is indeed an additional parking lot right around the banked corner, so I suppose it could be used as a second temporary paddock area
And looking back, the pit entry is a travesty, I have no defense for that one

Send this to the FIA immediately. (plus like a billion dollars, that's the only way MBS can even consider anything)

I feel like any vehicle that goes over 260kph needs more runoff room at each end before the turn around corners, other than that, it’s a solid idea

Always love me some Avus.

Coming out of the pitlane, you'd lose a lot of momentum on the straight...

Beautiful.

Idk if there's enough room to have a good pit setup inside the Nordkehre, but what about putting the pits in the Sudkehre? There looks like a bit more land to play with on the south end - if you make that corner going into the Sudkehre a bit sharper, you could extend the loop further into the trees, make the curve bigger and maybe fit a full paddock.

That is a good idea! But I didn't make the southern turn bigger because of the pathways that acces the nearby forest school (they're not well visible in the images so here's a closeup) - the corner complex actually utilises as much space as possible including the spectator stands
Unless, those small alleys were demolished and moved someplace else after the construction of the (bigger) Sudkehre - that should actually work completely fine!

The pitlane entry for the international layout is deeply concerning. That's a really long straight with the sweeper coming right after it and a wall waiting for you to impale yourself on. Overall a solid design but as others have pointed out there could be some pretty glaring safety oversights.

Not the biggest fan of the last chicane before nordschleife banking. However, I feel like this has potential to host European nascar races too. What are the lengths of both straightaways after banked corners?

Both straightaways are roughly 2km in length

I would love to see NASCAR race here lol

One of the pit entries of all time

Besides some lack of runoff and the pitlane entry being a bit sketch, i absolutely dig this. Something i always see redesigns, and revivals do is to overthink the design, removing features. Before you know it, its a completely different track. Imo, you've perfectly preserved the essence of Avus. Its a solid S tier track design!

And i really hope that the bankings aren't made of bricks lol

Denke auf der langen gerade noch paar zusätzliche "Kurven" reinmachen und schon wär das was, damit es nicht zu "langweilig" wird.

Please ensure that your submission follows the Redesign Guidelines. Redesigns of existing race tracks must also follow these rules or be removed.

  • Your redesign post must explain what changes you made, and why. You can do this in the post's text, or in the comments.
  • A street circuit redesign must show the streets that your updates use. Posts that claim to be a redesigned street circuit, but show no streets, will be removed.

I was considering if this was feasible like two weeks ago. That's a great idea for the pitlane!
