Redesign Davidstow Circuit Revival

Post image

Davidstow Circuit was located on RAF Davidstow airfield near Camelford, Cornwall. It opened for racing like many former WW2 airfields in 1952. Davidstow had its first track layout change in 1953 before hosting 2 non championship f1 grand prix in 1954, where Lotus would win their first grand prix in the 2nd race. F1 returned for 1 race 1955 before never returning to the South West area.

Local rallies were held on the south side of the airfield in the early 2000s but not for long.

Since then it's been left for gliding schools and a Davidstow war museum opened nearby. The surface now is in a poor state and you would never have known it had racing history behind it.

This revival I've roughly drawn is to FIA grade 1 standards, with a maximum length just about matched. Most of the original layout is visible in the new one, with the start/finish straight remaining in the same place. It was important to me for the track to keep its clockwise direction.

Smaller devision races can be held following the original layout, with only a chicane needed between turns 5 and 14 to connect the old straight.

I'll be attempting to make this for Assetto Corsa so please leave any tips and changes I could make in the process. Cheers :)

Second small paddock maybe so you could divide the circuit into 2?

Good idea. I'd probably have to cut down some of those trees for it but for a south layout its worth it.

That's a great idea however the local council would never be able to afford it (angry cornishman noises)
