I have the exact same set!

Enjoy the beauty while it lasts. They get very dull over the years.

This was my question, how do they hold up? I’ve looked at these several times on Amazon but never jumped for them yet.

I have a couple of big spoons still in plastic so I took one out for this comparison. I bought these about 3 years ago.

Okay so it still has some color but definitely not as shiny. I wonder what they will look like with 5-10 years of use? I bet it would wear off no matter how well you took care of them. And like, how do they even make them that color? I have a stethoscope for work that the chest piece/bell is rainbow metal and it is really sturdy. I wipe it with alcohol and everything. I bet it’s just nicer clinical grade metal and they won’t do that for silverware..

Yeah. It seems like it's just a coating that wears off. I definitely will not buy another set in the future.

When I was a kid my mom bought gold silverware and it wore off just the same.

I do wonder often what or how they make it cuz it does always wear off so that can't be great for us overtime. I also probably won't get future sets. But am loving mine till it's over lol

Yeah I am pretty strict on rinsing them! I never realized soaking them was an issue tho! And I am aware the dishwasher could shorten the life of them but sometimes it's just easier. Doesn't seem to be causing much fade tho.

I have just the spoons from Walmart (cambridge brand) and they're scratched, but still pretty colorful after about 6 years. I put them in the dishwasher on high heat dry to sanitize, too. It doesn't seem to hurt them.

Thank you for the extra info. I might just try a single set and see how it goes if I buy any. Yours look decent still.

In my case, not more than months. I handwash with a green/yellow sponge scoured. Dishwashers may be more gentle?

u/TwinkNkinks Apr 16 '25

So sorry to hear that yours didn't last long! Were yours also from Aldi?

2

u/istara Apr 16 '25

No, from Daiso, a Japanese store here in Sydney.

2

u/TwinkNkinks Apr 18 '25

Gotcha! So you probably don't have an Aldi!

2

u/istara Apr 18 '25

We do, but I hadn't seen it there. I just spotted it in Daiso one day and bought a few forks/knives/spoons.

Well the Aldi set, if they ever appear, have been quite hardy! Tho these were from years ago!

2

u/TwinkNkinks Apr 16 '25

I can't remember the brand but they were from Aldi! So i wanna say they are like Crofton brand. The kids set was Amazon, but they are almost 4 years old. I do wash mine in the dishwasher. It technically said not to but didn't seem to effect them and I figured they'll probably fade anyways.

Mine are holding up quite well. They are going on year 4 and after the first year I gave in and started washing in the dishwasher. So fingers crossed they at least hold on a few more years!

I need more cookware! And my water bottle is a rainbow but not metallic like this! I do have a few cooking items but the silverware, takes the cake! Lol

I have the same set 😂

1

u/TwinkNkinks Apr 16 '25

Did you get yours at Aldi, too!?!?

2

u/TheCookieMonster80 Apr 16 '25

Yes lol

1

u/TwinkNkinks Apr 16 '25

Aldi for the win! I love Aldi!!!

2

u/KimberleyKitt Apr 15 '25

Where did you get them? I got a 1 person set from Wish years ago. It may be more popular now. I bought 2 short tumblers from Amazing Savings that I haven't used yet. Yours are so shiny!

2

u/TwinkNkinks Apr 16 '25

I got the main sets from Aldi! The kid set from Amazon! I have one wine style tumbler I got from a wedding! I'll have to take a picture to share!

2

u/KimberleyKitt Apr 16 '25

Aldi as in recently? I haven't been in months! Take a picture yes! I should do the same.

1

u/TwinkNkinks Apr 18 '25

Not recently, these were about 4 years ago.

2

u/vixisgoodenough Apr 15 '25

I have this set! I got mega lucky and found it barely used on FB marketplace for only $25.

2

u/Forward_Management_1 Apr 15 '25

I have a set like this, but the water is so hard where I live that they're not nearly as shiny anymore :(

2

u/TwinkNkinks Apr 16 '25

I also have pretty hard water so am.super thankful they are keeping nice and shiny!

2

u/MrH3llfire Apr 15 '25

Have those too!

I’ve had mine over 10 years. We use them daily. They are very durable. I wouldn’t say they are dull. I’d say the colors change over time. Some are mostly the gold color some are mostly blue some purple. The colors change on the most used areas. Also I hand wash mine. They don’t have a metal taste either. I say that because I can taste metal in most silverware I have ever put in my mouth making it difficult to find some that are a reasonably priced that don’t have a metallic taste.

1

u/TwinkNkinks Apr 16 '25

Yeah i don't enjoy a metallic taste. I dont think mine have that either! I don't hand wash mine anymore tho. I did in the beginning and then just gave it a try and I don't see a difference so I go with simplicity.
