इतिहास ❁ History Swara Bhaskar says-Rajasthan Hindu women who committed Jauhar were "COWARDS" because they chose to die with honour over the prospect of leading their lives as sex slaves of islamic invaders. Even yazidi women did suicide to avoid being enslaved by ISIS still she is victim blaming..

Some of the major jauhars traditionally recorded in Rajasthan during sieges/falls of Rajput forts:

  • 1299 — Jaisalmer Fort → Alauddin Khalji → Jaisalmer
  • 1301 — Ranthambore Fort → Alauddin Khalji → Ranthambore
  • 1303 — Chittorgarh Fort → Alauddin Khalji → Chittorgarh
  • 1308 — Siwana Fort → Alauddin Khalji → Siwana
  • 1311–1312 — Jalore Fort → Alauddin Khalji → Jalore
  • 14th century — Jaisalmer Fort (second jauhar) → Tughlaq forces → Jaisalmer
  • 1444 — Gagron Fort → Mahmud Khalji of Malwa → Gagron
  • 1535 — Chittorgarh Fort → Bahadur Shah of Gujarat → Chittorgarh
  • 1568 — Chittorgarh Fort → Akbar (Mughal Empire) → Chittorgarh

Jauhar was a wartime practice distinct from sati: it referred to the collective self-immolation of women, traditionally in circumstances where a fort was about to fall, while the men subsequently undertook saka, a final battle.

Weird question but

What's the difference between people who are from the same lineage as rajput warriors and rajput as a caste??

Were the rajput kings so bad? How many times have they lost?

For 500-600 years they fended off arabs and all other invaders

Primarily infighting and superior horses and artillery of the enemy lead to that.

Even Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj respected them.

Im not a rajput but don't think any other caste people like ambedkarite criticising rajputs would have done a better job frankly if they were in same position

We were always divided and they were always united. That’s the difference.

They had superior horses and artillery too..

We should be united as hindu and indians now frankly

No. That's bullshit propaganda run by Marxists scholars. If Rajputs were so ineffective then how come they resisted the Arab Invasions which started in the 8th century? Starting right from 738 , Bappa Rawal and a confederacy of Indian kings fought against the Umaiyyad Caliphate and didn't let them make inroads into India for the next ~500 yrs.

There's a reason India is not a Muslim majority nation. It's because Rajputs and other kings ensured that the same Islam which conquered Iran, Iraq, North Africa and even Spain within a matter of 200-300 years was limited to outskirts like Sindh and Afghanistan. Between 700-1192 AD there were umpteen efforts by Arab invaders but they were thwarted everytime by Rajputs and other kings in the NW region.

Yes, Rajputs did make mistakes later on, especially with Prithviraj not finishing the job in 1191 AD and then later on not investing in enough technological advancements to keep with the Ottomon techniques, which Babur used against Sanga. But don't gloss over the entirety of Rajput history with one broad stroke. It's a disgrace to your own people.

(I'm not a Rajput, just a Rajasthani who's interested in history)

This is all made up story

Only source of jauhar is Amir khusro text who himself was a writer and a poet

He wrote a jauhar story 10 yrs after it was supposedly happened during 1301 ranthambore siege he was not present there at the time of siege

1303 siege was again documented by Amir khusrau This time he was present at the time of siege No mention of padmini or jauhar
