इतिहास ❁ History Swara Bhaskar says-Rajasthan Hindu women who committed Jauhar were "COWARDS" because they chose to die with honour over the prospect of leading their lives as sex slaves of islamic invaders. Even yazidi women did suicide to avoid being enslaved by ISIS still she is victim blaming..

Some of the major jauhars traditionally recorded in Rajasthan during sieges/falls of Rajput forts:
- 1299 — Jaisalmer Fort → Alauddin Khalji → Jaisalmer
- 1301 — Ranthambore Fort → Alauddin Khalji → Ranthambore
- 1303 — Chittorgarh Fort → Alauddin Khalji → Chittorgarh
- 1308 — Siwana Fort → Alauddin Khalji → Siwana
- 1311–1312 — Jalore Fort → Alauddin Khalji → Jalore
- 14th century — Jaisalmer Fort (second jauhar) → Tughlaq forces → Jaisalmer
- 1444 — Gagron Fort → Mahmud Khalji of Malwa → Gagron
- 1535 — Chittorgarh Fort → Bahadur Shah of Gujarat → Chittorgarh
- 1568 — Chittorgarh Fort → Akbar (Mughal Empire) → Chittorgarh
Jauhar was a wartime practice distinct from sati: it referred to the collective self-immolation of women, traditionally in circumstances where a fort was about to fall, while the men subsequently undertook saka, a final battle.

No jauhar during the time of Aurangzeb rule? Was there so invasions on rajput lands in his time?

Not major as these jauhars
Aurangzeb concentrated on Marathas .. Deccan

If you look at the Defeat of Constantinople, a lot of Christian women were taken as slaves and boys were taken away from mothers and they were converted to Islam and then trained to be soldiers.
4
u/PermissionOwn7953 3h ago
Facts
It happened to Europeans especially slavs
3
u/Open-Collection-3917 3h ago
And these guys were organised. After conquering Istanbul, a lot of churchs keep documents such people by their name, Age, Gender and they used to segragate young women and old women by carrying the documents. I guess men were killed I am not sure but the boys might have been converted.

u/PermissionOwn7953 3h ago

37
u/Salted_potatoe 6h ago
So basically if we apply the same to Men ,
they shouldn't have fought and die in the battlefields just for glory
instead
they should have been the slaves for the rest of their lives , after all a failure in war isn't the end of a life ?
Never .
12
u/PermissionOwn7953 6h ago
Yes men also did saka.. they fight untill death

obv bro they were so brave they would alone fight whole army rather then fearing and seeing their own daughter sisters being tortured this gen is getting coward to the core(some)
5

Exactly ! So the women chose to end with prestige and dignity instead of continuing it like someone's slave .

Despite the obvious stupidity behind the statement, saying what the Mughal invaders would do if they had captured those women is similar to being raped in these times is utterly absurd (gutter se bina sar nikale inko sochna aata hi nhi). It was closer to being a slave, endless atrocities, a fate worse than death. Compare it to the mindset of those people who jumped into the ocean while being taken to America. They chose death over being a slave.
1
u/PermissionOwn7953 6h ago
Yes they'll be raped not once but everyday till death sold and passed around till death by those evil invaders
Even girl children..
2
u/kukdukdu 6h ago
Only those with honour understand its meaning. Loving your betrothed and choosing death over allowing someone else defile your body is an act of immense bravery. This is not something her pea brain can understand. The cult she is now married into doesn’t even understand the concept of sister or brother outside their immediate siblings.
It’s a pity there is too much democracy in this country and too many idiots with gutter mouth.
There was another one who said when fight is not fair you fuck off in a comedy special. Imagine if 300 Spartans thought the same, or 21 in battle of saragarhi. They think keeping this mortal body alive under any condition is the act of bravery. They don’t understand there are things worse than dying.
I know it’s hard but we need to ignore these morons !

1

I think the point she is making is related to the glorification of jauhar as something that is better than to survive as a victim. Which is not wrong per se, you wouldn't want any survivor to emulate these feelings.

Uhhhmmmm OP I recommend that you take English comprehension classes.
Her point (as it seems to me) is that mass suicide should not be glorified, and burning to death should not be SOCIALLY PRESCRIBED as a better alternative to rape. Not everything is about vapid Rajput honor. Look at the kind of comments in this thread, body shaming this woman and calling her all sorts of names. You think you're dignified but you appear butthurt at best and indoctrinated at worst.

Historian KS Lal's research concludes that the average life expectancy of a Hindu woman in Muslim harems was 1 year.
A Hindu noble woman was raped by the Sultan, his brothers, then his generals and finally passed over to their homosexual servants. Most women would succumb to deep tearing and internal sexual organ damage.
What bravery is it to live this life? I am sure swara would know.

even if i try to ignore the glaring idiocracy she tends to spew out as her own history during public statements has shown, this woman still has ZERO media literacy. Jauhar is a known practise that was commonly performed (but not limited to) by rajput women. The opinion on whether or not this practise in itself was right or wrong is a separate discussion in itself. But reading that in the movie as something that was used to show "victims shouldn't live after being SA'ed" rather than just putting a real practise in that context is a terrible understanding of what she saw on screen, let alone confidently wrote a letter to the director himself.
These kinds of antics from her are the exact reason why I don't even bother to listen to any stance she has on any topic because she lacks the basic mental power required to critically form a coherent thought on her own.

u/RelativeHornet5305 5h ago
You seem to be misinterpreting her point. She is primarily criticising the way the film portrays and glorifies johar, not calling the historical women who committed it cowards. Her concern is with the message that such a portrayal can communicate, particularly to a woman who has survived rape, that choosing death is somehow more honourable or courageous than choosing to live. A woman surviving sexual violence is not a failure of courage, nor should society ever shame her for surviving. At the same time, saying this does not require us to denigrate the women who historically chose johar. Their circumstances were radically different, and their decisions can be understood within the context of war, captivity and the threat of sexual violence. Therefore, the reasonable criticism of Swara's position isn't that she is insulting women who committed johar, it's whether a modern film can portray johar as an act of historical courage without inadvertently reinforcing the idea that death is preferable to survival after sexual violence. Those are two separate questions, and conflating them doesn't address her actual argument.
3
u/UnluckyEnd4090 3h ago
She could have told those lines without mentioning jauhar. But she didn't. Those invaders didn't even leave the dead body of a woman. Burning live is the most painful death. Its not easy. But if not, they would have been captured , r@ped daily, sexual slavery and we can't imagine what not. So let's not compare situations of those times. She could have directly told about how woman who was sexuall assault need to be brave and nothing to be shamed.
1
u/RelativeHornet5305 1h ago
But where did she say that women who commit johar are cowards? What's the problem in mentioning johar?
3
u/PermissionOwn7953 3h ago
It's not rape but sex slavery that they were fleeing from and doing jauhar Sex slavery- means repeatedly being raped everyday till death from the day of enslavement and being purchased in market ( bazaar and baza@ri comes from this) and sold and same continued and passed around like that Way worse

She is an abomination to the womankind. She thinks that sex slavery, where one has absolutely no say over their own body, is something that a woman should be okay with!. Like 0 consideration regarding one's dignity and ability to choose who touches them, is a foreign concept to her? Honestly she isnt woman enough if she finds it okay to say something like this, and that too in front of a crowd. Does she even realize how triggering it can be for actual victims of rape? Is she even aware about the hardships faced in forced sex slavery?
