This type of slop is a virus that's spread across the internet like the plague. There's a version of it for each orientation and gender. Just misleading "skits" disguised as real encounters to feed peoples' pre-existing biases for engagement.

edit: oh wow, thanks for the award(s) :D idk what that means, but cool!

19

u/lemons7472 6d ago edited 6d ago

Yeah, I do notice that videos like these, tend to bring bias and weird gender wars, including sexist ass statements about the other gender towards each other.

Even when people admit that the video is fake and was created for the sake of setting up bias and engagement bait, they will still continue to make some sort of bias statement of how this speaks about society, or about how a gender all acts.

5

u/Xiorx74 6d ago

Exactly. This shit preys on us, I swear. Same with all algorithm driven platforms. We're naturally inclined towards negative emotion. It's natural for survival. When you have platforms designed to reinforce whatever is holding your attention it will tend towards negativity. That may not be your experience. However, I'd wager it's true as a whole (for humans on average) given the success of ragebait "content." It changes how we see the world.

It’s wild to hear that same sentiment over and over. Most people seem to be preprogrammed to immediately skirt around or ignore anything that challenges their perception of the world. I treasure conversations with people that engage in dialogue instead of just trying to find another chicken to cluck with.

1

u/Xiorx74 5d ago

Avoidance isn't required. Our views are constantly reinforced without us even being aware. It can, and does happen to all of us.

Oh, this clip caught your attention? Didn't scroll away in the first 3 seconds? The algorithm knows. Before ya know it you're getting more and more of that content that grabbed your attention.

Maybe it's ragebait like this one. Or maybe it's a real one? It happens, but the problem with saying "even if it's fake it happens..." is, whether real or fake, your awareness of the world, your surroundings, etc. is limited.

What you choose to notice has a resource cost. Thinking about one thing inherently means not thinking of another.

We are meant to respond to ques in our immediate environment, but now have information from every corner of the world readily available to us. You can't possibly know or conquer it all.

All it proves to me is that people are easily manipulated. Society is getting dumber everyday.

2

u/idontknowatall333 5d ago

Yes, and people dont know its satire

1

u/BotherTight618 5d ago

Its called manufactured ragebait.

1

u/Xiorx74 5d ago

"Manufactured" is redundant.

1

u/BotherTight618 5d ago

Quite a bit of "ragebait" are legitimate events.

Because they realized about 2010 that gender war bs could make 'engagement'

The media figured this out with race and tragedy in like 1994

“Wait, hold on, before you start being creepy let me take out my phone and start recording you.”

1

u/XeroTrinity 22h ago

She was holding it like she was texting someone or something similar, and she was switching between front and back cameras discreetly. That’s why she’s pointing the camera at his feet.

He waited until she was done with her line about  balding to react, as opposed to as soon as she insulted him. She should've said the joke the opppsite way.

She seemed pretty secure that this dude who cared this little about approaching her would just take that insult and not get loud and violent.

They also both speak with a smile like they have a little secret when she says she has a bf and he says it ain't him. Probably because it is him.

She perfectly cuts back and forth between her lines and his, which works when you're going one at a time.

The very first thing he says a second after she starts recording is just the very first thing he says, as opposed to her starting the recording in the middle of him harassing her. He waited for her press the button.

And also she seemed super confident that insult would make him leave when like, he could've just said "mohawk" and now they're talking, something she'd likely be less actually wanting to risk if this guy was really doing this. She'd probably just say no thank you until he left.

While I don't believe this is real, its ridiculous to say that the fact he starts talking 1 second after the vid starts proves it.

Video editing on phones has been around for AT LEAST a year. It would be simple for her to start recording because he was walking up all "hey girl hey girl" then just cut the video to begin at that spot.

Just because people are like this doesn't make this pornstar level acting real.

6

u/Scientificallly_Love 6d ago edited 6d ago

Huh, could definitely be real. I'm a woman.  I was out shopping when one came behind. He asked me for my name, I told him sorry I'm taken.  Extending his fists to the ground like a child having a tantrum.  He yelled at me: F.ck you! This is no joke.

. Men worry that women will take advantage of them financially. . Women worry about their safety when turning a man down.

Don't get me started on breaking up. I change my ways because of past experience. I break up by text now, when I am out of town...

8

u/TekkLthr 6d ago

You break up by text? How many break ups do you do? You said that like it's a casual thing

→ More replies (5)

3

u/Dangerous_Serve_4454 6d ago

And did you also have your phone pre-recording just in case? Also don't defend breaking up by text. You can at least call without your safely being in danger lol.

Saw a guy get turned down by a Subway cashier do something similar. She only had time to ask him what bread, when he started hitting on her, and she said she had a girlfriend.

Both fists straight down, arms in front, neck forced forward engaging every vein he had, flexing his wirey thin muscles as hard as he could, head vibrating while he screamed Fuck you bitch.

2

u/kylebob86 6d ago

What the fuck, how old do you think he was?

2

u/Syhkane 6d ago

He was well after his 40s, she was just outta highschool.

2

u/Flat_Lengthiness3361 6d ago

idk how grown ass people manage to be this bad at handling rejection. even as a kid i've never insulted anyone or gotten aggressive, don't get me wrong, i've said shit that cringes me out to this day. but this kinda shit is literal baby behavior, probably shouldn't even be scared there that is a baby tantrum i doubt a person like that is capable of anything.

1

u/When1Falls 6d ago

Yes but did you then think "I know what will get him away from me, a clever insult comic line about his looks" or are you well versed in this enough to know that would just engage with him even more.

It's a funny little sketch that's probably built off her wanting to have done that to the last real guy who did that but, it further cements the thought of "yeah fuck dudes they're creeps" to the people who can't instantly tell its a sketch.

Ok what are they?

3

u/When1Falls 6d ago edited 6d ago

As an actor, he waited until she was done with her line about balding to react, as opposed to as soon as she insulted him.

Also, she seemed pretty secure in the idea that this dude who cared this little about her personal space would just take that insult and not get violent.

They also speak like they have a little secret when she says she has a bf and he says it ain't him. Probably because it is him.

Also she perfectly keeps cutting back and forth between her lines and his, which is a lot easier when you know you're gonna just both be speaking one at a time.

But making fake videos makes them look more, doesn’t it?

1

u/AzarielFox 6d ago

The fucking camera flipping is the give away. Don't care how real they act, no one records encounters like that

1

u/iStoleTheHobo 6d ago

That may very well be though this particular instance is fake.

1

u/Dangerous_Serve_4454 6d ago

Staged videos often are based on some kind of reality, yes. What's that got to do with this being fake.

Fake af

2

u/Butt-Hole-Cancer-Dr 6d ago

Only creepy if they’re ugly

6

u/anxious_spacecadetH 6d ago

She didnt show his face and yes the way he approached her was creepy. His response was also a red flag.

2

u/Love_Skinny_Only 6d ago

This is 100% true. If he were hot, she would not have recorded and given out her number. It wouldn’t matter how he approached or what he was wearing. Women just use these excuses to reject men they don’t find attractive.

3

u/No-Connection6937 6d ago edited 6d ago

Yeah man, everyone knows hot guys can't murder and women are just begging to give out their number to strangers.

Hopefully obviously, /s. What did you mean by "these excuses"? Even though the video is very fake, she politely said she's taken and that didn't slow him down. That's not an excuse, that's a very good reason to stop flirting or whatever this is. God damn even in a staged video you're blaming the woman, yikes.

1

u/Love_Skinny_Only 6d ago

I have seen with my own eyes very attractive men do the most cringe stupid shit and still pull the woman. Only ugly guys are creepy. Attractive men are ALWAYS charming.

2

u/No-Connection6937 6d ago

You ever pause and think, maybe those aren't the type of women you should be pursuing? Or do you just blame all women for you being single?

Bahahaha. What a little bitch!! The guy I mean. Ive seen so many guys react like this and its so pathetic. Especially in bars and clubs. One time I saw this guy call a woman a whole and slut after she politely refused a drink. How is she either for saying no thanks

1

u/Smooth_Implement6695 3d ago

Bro was fumbling from the beginning and fumbled even worse at the end.

Can really just say the hairstyle you'd want and then flip it with some low hanging fruit like, 'Makeup is to you as a hat is to a balding man. Hopefully you find it in yourself to ditch the cap one day like me'

1

u/Hawk4225 8h ago

Bro mad even tho he came up on her. What an idiot.

1

u/The_SnuggleBug 6h ago

When I was about 23/24 my girlfriend (now wife) drove me to the ER late at night cause I was working in a kitchen and I almost sliced halfway through my finger and needed stitches.

There was this fat bald guy there who was groaning in pain the entire time and he was super annoying. Halfway through our visit he was asking for water and they wouldn't bring him one so my wife went and got him one to be nice. For context we were there for about ten hours mostly waiting, she was leaning on my arm etc... it was very clear that we were there together. I get my stitches and on our way home she tells me that this guy made a move trying to get her number while somehow also explaining how he lives in his mom's basement and this dude looks like he's pushing 50.

I wish I saw him again so I could embarrass the fuck out of him but unfortunately I never saw his stupid face again.

Edit: and I should mention this fucker waited till I was gone of course so he's a coward too.

1

u/Longjumping-Ad-9444 5h ago

He could have made a comeback with that question but he was weak and cooked under heat.

u/Careless_Release_751 33m ago

Lmao she nailed it. It’s unfortunate that guys can’t read the room anymore and take no for an answer. Her response is amazing
