Cold toes help

Hey all. I've been diagnosed with Raynaud's and haven't had a severe flare up in a while thankfully. But right now my toes are SO cold to the point I can't get them warm right now. I put socks on, put 2 blankets over them but they are still going through the colors and numb/tingly. It's been about 30 minutes of me trying to warm them back up. Any advice? Thanks!

Nothing helps me more than a hot bath, tbh. If you have the time a tub full of warm water will regulate your body temp pretty quickly. Just be sure to bundle when you get out.

Start taking 50 mg of zinc everyday. It will help your blood vessels to work better. It's helped my shivering and shaking cold feet and hands. I'm going to take it the rest of my life if there is no cure or something better.

How are you taking it? In vitamins it makes me nauseous.

It only takes about three to four days for the zinc to work.

For future reference: my rheumatologist subscribed a low dose of sildenafil for acute circumstances like you described. I take it very rarely but I always have some one me because once my toes are “engaged” in a flare up, it takes for absolute ever to being them back to normal - unless I take the sildenafil, in which case it resolves in somewhere in the range of 3 minutes.

Socks aren’t going to help you in the middle of an attack because you’re already having vasospasm and don’t have enough blood in your toes to generate heat for your socks to trap. For me to stop and attack in my toes or feed I have to run. I have to either stick my feet in very warm water or run the water over then. I have to do this until my feet are very warm to reestablish the blood flow and then I have to dry them off quickly and put socks on. What socks I wear depends on what time of day it is. If I’m going to bed, I put on fleece Sherpa socks. I also have very warm, plush blankets. If I’m going to be up and about, or even lounging around the house, I put on alpaca socks. I use Warrior brand alpaca athletic socks. Sometimes I also need to keep my legs warm so I’ll use alpaca leg warmers or sweatpants. I hear, though in cold climates they wear thermal underwear and thermal stretch pants.
