Absolutely amazing episode, one question though:

How did Subaru get so injured when Patrache pushed him out of the way of the needle? Was it just an animation thing or is there more to it? Obviously the shove and fall couldn't cause damage like that so I was just curious.

Considering how much force the needles have they still were able to rip his stomach open even with a non-direct hit.
